  • coulda done more with that sample...

  • anybody know what keyboard that is?

  • @austyfrosty29 it's called an open labs meko...they run about 4 grand.

  • wow this was boring..

  • @thedjesa Well maybe it's not boring to people who make music

  • All that nice equipment and a tiny shitty monitor. What??????????

  • ski is a good freestyler :)

  • I experimented with Ableton a few years ago and its a great program plus the stock sounds are incredible by themselves - I will always be an FL dude though thats the program I started on and it don't matter what piece of equipment i got or get - Everything revolves around FL in my studio! - But if your looking into another program try Ableton you won't be disappointed

  • @ShottyGunzBeatz , Word!

  • quantize is for pussies...

  • Never messed w/ live, more of a Cubase guy but that warp feature looks crazy!

  • what the track on 32s

  • But the warp feature is dope! I neeeeeed to get my warp game up lol

  • FL Studio's Edison Master will forever be the easiest tool to sample with IMO. Just highlight and grab. I'm making the transition over to ableton but I think I may still chop samples in FL. I'm too lazy to learn a new style lol

  • Some producers are skilled and i give them props for learning how to use ableton, but these tempo and time signatures are so limited and pedantic.

They just can't get the true originality of a musician.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 what tempo and time signatures are not?

  • @TSyoutubin no, iv'e seen some bands that change the measure between every bar, at every high tempos.

Producers don't really dwelve into that sort of thing, and if they do, they are probably not even producers.

  • seems chill this one

  • rear projection yall!

    :D

  • what is that sample

  • Gato Barbieri being Scliced !

  • love this dude

  • I like how ppl are like "he lives in a small apartment" in Manhattan... Dunno if anyone noticed, but those arent $20 walmart special monitor speakers. At 300-500 for a pair, I dont think he's hurting for money (and thats not taking into account the thousands of dollars of other equip he has. Who even knows? This might just be his studio, his real crib is probably in the Hamptons.

  • @djravery krk's arent that nice but i agree who the fuck cares where his studio is

  • What beat is that @ :11? Is it a beat thats out or maybe just him messin around?

  • hes nice

  • a question, as you can configure a MIDI controller, Akai MPK-MINI ??? (:

  • Seriously guys, nobody understands my point? Compare this guy's home to the artists he is producing for, that's all I'm saying.

  • @DecemberInJuly I do but maybe he don't mind about the size of his apartment. He's got a fantastic view out his window and I guess if I lived there that would be where my focus and inspiration comes from.

I think a lot of people are trying to say that you can take what you have and if you're creative enough you can make magic happen from the most basic sources. The creativity is within you, not in the equipment you use or your surroundings.

  • @DecemberInJuly yeah he has a normal size apartment in a nice tall building, but he probably drives a mclaren.

  • What kind of Kicks/Toms/Percussion is he laying 2 6:00 what is the Name of that type of "hit"

  • @TheeAldeen like is it an 808, a tr, 707, 6-369!, b-oY47!! , HAHAHA, j/p BUT someone let me know!

  • Thats dope how he Double Warps it - Resampling the original chop, very innovative

  • what a Brilliant mind & yet still such a modest producer - does it all with nothing : : don't get more realer than that : :

  • Beautiful View : : Great Studio Space : :

  • It's kind of surprising to see a professional artist allowing his mix levels to clip like hell...

  • Still rocking Windows XP.

  • To all you out there wit the HATE in your heart.....Those who hate can't DO....PERIOD...Ski Beats made music when you were still in pampers....REALLY

  • @okashasunami Are you serious right now?? Like for real?? You dumb. Period.

  • lil' murphy??? ha

  • @okashasunami stealing? its called sampling and is a technique that is not looked down upon. "rip shop"??? "drip drop"??? "shit slop"??? you are going to diss a genre of music with jibber jabber so shut the fuck up. "blip blop" to you, and you can suck my "big cock"

  • @Irwin197 totally agree with you on the art of sampling but "pause".

  • @JOSERULZ69 haha he wants to say some stupid shit about music with some not funny retarded phrase...idek dude, fuck okashasunami

  • i would love to have a "how to be a sick producer" lesson with Ski!

  • @okashasunami Am I to understand that you aren't a fan of hip hop/rap or not a fan of black people? Just want to be sure so your message isn't misinterpreted.

  • dudes a genius and he's doing something. What are you doing...

  • this program is fucking wack at first glance.. but trust me its legit. i had to mess with it for a few weeks before i got the hang of it.. live shits on everything else

  • this program loooks so difficult , im just goin back to fl studio

  • @TheRealMaaqee LOL fl studio is lame ableton is way too easier just watch tutorials use both fl and ableton works great

  • @dankaiba fl studio is amazing buddy , do you know who 9th wonder is ... smh

  • @TheRealMaaqee fl studio is lame compared to ableton mate sorry thats the reason why a lot of producers and djs jump to ableton

  • @dankaiba none are lame, there all useful tools and they all have a specific purpose, perfect in daws don't exist.

  • WOW my home town...Whats good SKIBEATZ...

  • this is dope.. and inspiring to make music..

  • the thing is ski doesnt need to spend his money on pointless bullshit like an enormous house that he wont need to fill up.

  • @ahlvinf Amen to that

  • Can anyone tell me which swing template he is using?! I see MPC 16 Swing - ?0

Im not sure if its a 60 or a 50 or what :P

  • stop talking about money, talk about ableton -.-

  • He raps better than Wayne ;D

  • yeah!

  • when we get on tour, we're gonna get girls galore

i'm just playin, i'm married, for suure

    haha love Ski

  • ski's a humble dude, would love to see how he mash up maschine with ableton.. for sure

  • +5 for crappy little dell monitor. Now I don't feel so ridiculous. XD

  • thanks ski!

  • reason 5 reason5!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's got stuff like 'classic beat breaks' 'dilla drums' 'groovy kit'....etc

how come i havnt got them? where do you get them??

  • DAMN,,turn that fucking metronome off. FUCKING DOIN MY HEAD IN

  • basic apartement ???? are you serious you how it cost to live in manhattan ????

  • @sambaata Good point, plus this is his studio; NOT even where he lives. Producers for big artists make lots of money; they just don't get as much publicity.

  • wow thats a nice set up with a nice view. Imagine makin a beat a night with the city lights in the back

  • good stuff but with no reason i really dislike software! like to see u on mpc more :]

  • I love the amount of time you idiots put into arguing the pros and cons of

A: A midi controller sending messages to an audio processor.

B: A midi controller sending messages to an audio processor.

    Kill yourself.

  • "I hate seeing these guys living in basic apartments." Damn right, without producers its just poetry, Jay Z is the 500 million man how many poets are worth 500 million, fuck that how many poets have 1 million, the production is the heart and sole of any hip hop track, they should get more than the rappers.

  • Shut up and take my money, Ableton Inc.!

  • aeileon.com

  • @Rajonty The way I do it is, see how at 6:30 he opens the grooves, go to quantize in the groove pool, select how you want it quantized and then hit commit.

  • 50 TYSON

  • I hate seeing these guys living in basic apartments. Producers are the foundation of all music.

  • @DecemberInJuly without them its just vocals

  • Comment removed

  • @DecemberInJuly haha i wouldnt call that a basic apartment, that view from his window is epic! sure to bring some inspiration. i wouldnt care if i was a big producer and got payed little, as long as im getting payed to make music, i would be very happy.

  • @DecemberInJuly maybe he just likes his apartment. He can obviously afford some pretty nice gear.

    Maybe he is just humble

  • @DecemberInJuly Basic apartment? Check out the VIEW! You watch too much TUBE dude.

  • @luciverse Oh, and Peace, SKI :-D

  • @luciverse His home doesn't compare to the houses of the artists he's producing for, that was my point.

  • @DecemberInJuly thats not even true.. you think dre and pharell live in "basic apartments"? some producers are just too busy putting in work to care for a big mansion..

  • @DecemberInJuly The working classes of the music industry. Every industry has 'em.

  • @DecemberInJuly ski is a smart dude , hes deffenatly payed

  • @DecemberInJuly lol thats funny but yea apartments aint cheap in manhattan

  • @DecemberInJuly DUDE your burnt - you don't need a million dollars of gear and a HUGE space to make Magic : : fag : :

  • yo question for anyone, if you have the two monitor speakers to the left and right like ski has in this video is there any need to get a subwoofer

  • @dontfeedthatwalrus the monitors should alwayse point at ur ears. wether u need a sub depends on the speakers u got but if it was me, yeah i would get a sub

  • @CatesbyDubs yerp, thanks man, and i got the krk rokit 6, i think i will get a sub just as soon as i get some money

  • Which song is on 00:32 ? Thanks for answers )))

  • you dont know , how or when i had an mpc ... so stop making assumptions bitch boy .. dont hate .. cuhz you cant get one .. stick to this weak sauce software soft azz ni99az

  • I am a skinny white boy who loves rare groove breaks and Linn Drums and you have made my day. God Bless. talent / Tech / Soul / Skill ... Song : )

  • whats so good/diffierent about his preset?

  • holy shit, this dude knows his shit.

  • That's such a sick shirt,

  • that lil preset is going to help me a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gowno! najgorsze...

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THOSE DRUM KITS

  • @DigitalDevilXL software is what makes all our hardware useful. everything is digital these days, which means software is in control EVERY TIME. hardware isn't better than software, and you couldn't use one without the other. it seems like you really don't understand modern tools.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you and ski is trash . he will never come close to a pete rock

  • @DigitalDevilXL Well thankful for Ski, he uses a Maschine & Ableton. I'll agree though that Machine's & Abletone are trash

  • @DigitalDevilXL to me it sounds a bit more like you happened to get an MPC for your birthday and now think that's the only thing you can use for music. There's about a billion ways to make music, and you know what? As long as someone considers it to be music, that's what it is.

  • slap yourself .. the mpc is analog .. the mpc 60 60'2 and the 3000 .. you dumb shiit ... go slap your mom and put that bitch on the track ... ski beats .. is a lame for jumping to ableton and to mashine ..weeeak ...

  • @DigitalDevilXL your weak for denying the evolution of techniques

  • i played with the mashine , its just a marketing act of paying ski beats to use it , everyone goes back to the mpc 3000 .. you cannot compare the sound comming out the 3000 to a mashine lol... the mashine is a midi controller with a software that triggers it thats all . lol.... thier no analog converters , everything is all numbers lol. thiers ZERO ANALOG lol.. MPC 3000 MPC 60 and SP1200 .. always will be better then software . its a given

  • @DigitalDevilXL the mpc isn't analog either. in the end, the mpc is also only a controller triggering a small computer inside.

  • thats a dope ass beat ski!

  • dont need to contribute to shiit ... and thats funny commin from a fag with a wu logo . who knows nuthing about hip hop excepts goes with the sorry hype ... ni is garbage ... thier is no comparison to a mashine to a mpc 3000 ... the 3k will always get respected the mashine is just boo boo plastic lol..

  • @DigitalDevilXL unless you've used the maschine, you don't know what you're talking about. Coming from an mpc, a maschine is a completely different beast. the workflow is crazy. I don't even use my mpc anymore.

  • @OnlyOmari I've had an MPC 2000xl and a Maschine. They're different. I liked some features of both, but ultimately decided to go w/the MPC 4000 and Komplete 6 and cubase and going to grab Ableton Suite 8.Not to mention my other hardware and software synths, comps, mic pres etc. It's all preference because even the openlabs Neko (Skibeats is using one in this video) can't do everything, yes I had one of those too, lol. No one program/or hardware machine can do it all. Use whatever works for you..

  • @OnlyOmari did not mean to direct that comment at you. You said what I said. They're different...

  • kids to feed bills to pay ?? might as well sell your azz then hahaha . fagget

  • shet the fuck up ... software is for pussys .. and hardware is for talent ... what we see as a display here for lame azz ski beats is a sucker that is willing to sell his ass for a check . fagget ..lol

  • after watching these videos i feel i need to take producing to the next level with ableton

  • what is the song called starts at 0:32 ?

  • @csabika im wondering the same thing

  • jokes not on me :) . i come from a wealthy family , but got love for hip hop . and ableton paid him , to do shiit on their daw ... so get off my dick .. and kill yo self . broke ass lame get urself an mpc ... and start talkin broke azz producers

  • MAN...VERY INSPIRING. LOVE HOW HE CLOSES HIS EYES WHEN GETTING INTO THE GROOVE!

  • what a fuckin sell out .... soo lame

  • @DigitalDevilXL I find its better to make a living doing what you love, making music than being a dead broke, born to soon kind of an artist.. jokes on you.

  • @DigitalDevilXL "i come from a wealthy family" stop sucking on ya dads dick son, your one of dem niggas that dont do shit but complain too. petty ass mo fugga.

  • @DigitalDevilXL

lol nigga, he got kids to feed, bills to pay. what have you contributed? nothing, so eat shit bitchfuck

  • if i don't have an external controller, is there a way for the keyboard to double as a controller/keyboard like in garageband?

  • @blacktrendpen homey hands down get an akai controller like the mpk49 or mpk61 plus the apc40.it makes ableton sooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier 2 control

  • @blacktrendpen jus make sure the little keyboard icon in the top rite corner is lit yellow and u good

  • I've gained so much respect for ski beatz today...

  • that computer looks more ghetto than him hahaha oh Im horrible.

  • @Gamespflow talk about the TV lol hehe

  • his brain is producing Cannabinoids instead of ideas

  • Oh! mpc 16 SWING!

  • I really like the rap session they do. Good feelin' ...

  • can someone tell me what he means by 'warping'

  • Nice marketing guys.

  • He needs a better monitor

  • @PearLDrummeR1871

forreal. i think he's talented. if he got some good monitors... who knows what he'd do.

  • Thanks for the explanation it works real good

  • 0:11 sample Shuggie Otis - Oxford Gray

  • 6:58 Whats this beat called?? DOPENESS

  • damn, he's so good at placing warp markers and warping at the exact spots so fast. It takes me forever to place the markers in. And even then, when I slice the sample, I still have to adjust it cause I was so off. :/

  • damn, his drums are epic

  • Sample: I Want You - Gato Barbieri

  • If you like doper beats than TakTix made in Ableton Live, check my beats!!! Just kidden Tax. Much love to all my fellow musicians...

  • dude

  • If u like dope hip-hop beats made with Ableton Live check out my youtube beat video ... peace..... taktix247

  • Hey AbletonInc, i'm thinking about going to college to be a music producer(beat maker) at the art institute, but i dont know how to make a beat. Is Ableton live a good software to start off as a beginner?

  • not only a awesome producer but Pittsburgh penguins fan too, that makes him even cooler

  • one question how would you compare this to FL Studio 10? advantages and disadvantages? i currently produce music, but i see ableton as something (dont get me wrong) that doesnt meet the requirements for rap tracks. correct me if i am wrong

  • @Icee011 Your totally doesn't matter the daw you use to produce ! But ableton is really dope and easy as hell. It let you focus on what is important beside the techhy side ! (but yu can go further)

  • @Icee011 My girlfriend and I just had this conversation. I use Fruity as of right now. I am switching to Ableton live because I feel as if with Fruity i'm always PREPARING to make music when I could be actually making music with Ableton. If you actually like to use your midi controller instead of trying to think of ways to link it to things in fruity. If you actually want a functional explorer. Get. Ableton.

  • @Icee011 Thanks for the comment, ill try Ableton

  • This video actually helped me out a lot, I've been sort of stumped about warping lately.

  • how do i install his preset?

  • this looks mad kool but it kills it for me because i wanna just jump in and create and learning the software bores me and makes me lose interest :(

  • can ski beats actually ski?

  • I have these krk rokits on my set up.... only I have sixes instead of eights...not too expencive though......

  • I honestly belive Ableton is the best software out there. After using it for about a year, i can't imagine how other software complaies can compete with it. Nice vid @AbletonInc & @SkiBeatz!

  • @bo7mod2009 hey kid, people that are actually professionals or serious musicians actually buy their software. If u were one of these people u would know the benefits of buying the software as opposed to stealing it. But u r not so I am not even gonna waste my time on telling u. I hope u get a virus from your torrent shit on your crap ass PC. Oh yeh and ableton is easy as fuck to run. Learn to read.

  • @dmoates420 mmm ok but it costs like 1000 $ ...

  • Can somebody please tell me what studio monitors he is using?

  • @cptnswelly14 krk rokit

  • this software is too hard for me im 17 i think my brain will blow off

reason 4 is the best but it has no vst i use mixcraft for vst plug ins like auto tune and sound effects

ableton live is so great but its hard to handle cubase is better
