I just got this same stock for my SGL21 today. Was the thumb button you press to unlock and fold it really stiff when you first got it? It is super stiff on mine and was actually stuck locked, I had to take a piece of wood and hammer to it initially. I am hoping it loosens up over time.
@mrwangchung yeah, mine was really tight too. I worked it many times first, and then shot some lube in it after it got a bit better, and now it's fine - still a bit stiff, but better tight than loose as they say...
@xSnuffedx the folder is not heavy at all. It may be a little bit heavier than a wooden stock overall, but I doubt by much, especially if you had a cleaning kit in the wooden stock. The balance of the rifle stays almost the same - so much so that I've never really thought about it.
@TacticalGunGuy Well I did the math, and putting this stock on my MAK90 will only make it 0.4cm longer than an AKS-74 (muzzle brake included) in overall length. Any other comments about this stock? I plan on getting it soon.
@N2thedrink well, I talked to the Oakland County Sheriff Department personally and confirmed what I did was the correct thing, and they have had my pistol registration for it since right before my video posted, so I I'm confident I'm good. Try to purchase a Galil carbine in Michigan and you'll see the same - they want it registered as a pistol.
@N2thedrink The MI law says any rifle (16" barrel minimum) that has an overall length no less than 26" and no greater than 30" is a pistol and has to be registered as such after you modify it to be less than 26" - and after that point it has to stay that way. It's not illegal to put a butt stock on it because the barrel is still 16". Stupid law, yes, but the upshot is, according to people I've talked to, you can carry it concealed with a CPL / CCW license if you were so inclined.
I've looked a this stock but i'm wondering if it would be good for my milled polish ak, since I know milled and stamped are almost 2 different thing for some dumb reason.
Also hows the weight of the stock because I know folding stock typically decrease weight.
@TheSolitaryTraveller I don't think this particular stock will fit a milled AK without modifications anyway, due to the thickness differences in the receivers. Normally, yes, this stock would be a bit lighter than wood as mounted on a Krinkov, but with the extra adapter block to allow it to work with a standard trunnion the weight is basically equivalent to a wood stock set up. The compactness of the rifle is why I did it though - big difference.
Hey how do you like the J-Tac. I am the putting the same on my SA-85. The finish on these guns is almost too nice for an AK. (smile) I went with the Mako folder.
that crack is why alot of aks use plywood or laminate instead of solid wood. you never see a laminate stock do that. just fyi. its a real shame it broke you did such amazing job on the finish.
I own a BFS and found it to be very helpful when shooting. The extra 2inch gives the rifle a much more comfortable feel to it. Not so scrunched up when shouldering the rifle. So you can suck on that.
@rollthelosingdice You're just jealous that my BFS is more tacticool for CQB beotch! Seriously though, it's down to personal shooting style and body size. I'm 5ft 11in and about 0.5in longer than Warsaw is perfect for me under almost all circumstances.
Dang dude that sucks that your stock cracked. Atleast they sent you a new one free of charge. I like that triangle folder that you have now. Michigin requires you to register your rifle as a pistol simply because of a folding stock. That is messed up. That's Liberals for you. The state I live in doesn't care and doesn't have firearms registeration. As long as you comply with the Feds. You can do what you want to your firearms.
@saved03 Michigan requires registration as a pictol if teh folded length is between the federal limit of 26" OAL, and 30". The rule is an interpetation from some Attorney General some years back about what constitutes a pistol, but yes, I agree, Michigan gun laws suck. No SBR, SBS, AOW or supressors, but we can have pre-1986 machine guns now...if only I had $20K to by one :)
@TacticalGunGuy The Attorney General of a state shouldn't have a final say on how the state law is to be interpreted. That's up to the judges and State's Supreme Court. Well anyways another state I can't figure out is Conn.. You cannot own an AK in 7.62X39. You can own one in 5.56X45 and here's the kicker, you can own a VZ-58 in 7.62X39. I'm like really guys. What's the point?! Have you ever thought of moving or is there something keeping you in Michigan?
@saved03 I completely agree about the correct role of an Atty General - their goofy remarks (which are used as official interpretations of the law) are usually so out of context as to confuse even the lawyers who practice firearms law in the state. Can you own an AK in 5.45 X 39 in Conn, or just NATO caliber 5.56?
@TacticalGunGuy From what I looked up. You can own an AK in the 5.45X39 round. You can own an AK 74 just not an AK 47. If it was about caliber banning. They would need to ban SKS, VZ-58 and any other "assault rifle" that fires that round. So it is purly based upon cosmetics and nothing more. Canada has the same law as Connetticut has for the AK 47 ban. You can own an SKS or VZ-58 in Canada. Kind of goofy isn't it? I'm glad I'm not under those infringments.
@TacticalGunGuy Well I think that Ann Coulter hit the nail on the head with her latest book titled Demonic. I forget the sub title. What it basicly is, is a history of liberalism. Liberalism is demonic. What get's me mad the most is had bad the BATFE messed up Operation Fast and Furious. Some have said that it was a conspiracy of the Obama admin. to somehow promote more gun control. I haven't seen any evidence of that but it would not suprise me if it were true.
I found a FEG HUngarian SA-85. But the Model was made by Arsenal USA. It said Model SSR-85C: I read these guns are not always real Hungarian guns but they could be Bulgarian or Polish parts. I know your gun is right. Have you any info on the Model Arsenal USA SSR-85c. I dont want to get scammed. Please help quickly, WFWebster
I just picked up a second SA-85 for the primary purpose of turning it into a side folder. Thanks for the info I will likely go with the K-var. Did you consider any other folders?
Not too bad, i just got me the same folding stock, i do not like that 1 inch extension, but its still no too bad. i like your wood handles. they are nice. i want to buy same ones. and i also just ordered me a wood magazine. it was freaking expensive.
@edgybob1 Thanks - yeah, that sucked about the stock, but I think I like the folder better anyway. It's a very solid setup, and I know it wont crack or splinter!

@xSnuffedx Does the MAK90 have a longer than standard (eastern block) length? Vs a standard commie stock, this stock will add 1.25" (IIRC)
TacticalGunGuy 3 weeks ago
@TacticalGunGuy Nope, it's a standard thumbhole stock, 35.1 inches total rifle, approx 10in, give or take a little.

@Owmyballsdude The J-TAC is great. I compared it to the genuine German AK-74 brake in the earlier video and it's as effective, and smaller to boot.
