flon5flon, these deer aren't hunted as sika deer as seen in the video are considered a national treasure in japan. they are not hunted for food or sport like the north american virginia deer (whitetail) or mule deer. also in north america hunting is used for population control and meat harvesting which are both valid reasons for the sport.

not to mention most national parks in america and canada are funded almost entirely my hunters. as well as fishermen to a lesser extent.

and i'll point out even though these sika deer are smaller than north american white tails they can still seriously harm a person. the bottom line is these deer are wild animals not pets and due caution should be taken when around them.

i personally have not hunted deer nor other large game. but i have done extreme pest control on the richardson ground squirrel.
