  • wonderful post!

  • The Clapping threw Kitty and the stars right off.LOL

  • Aww,sis kitty she was rough,and tough,but was a beautiful person.

  • im not racist but the white crowd cant clap on beat lol

  • @stack4321 Those white brother and sister are trying. LOL, give them a chance :)

  • the audience messed up the song when they started clappin..if u gonna clap, clap on beat lol

  • @stack4321

Then The Strars can't either, cuz 90% is clappin with them.

  • @taddyd1 lol

  • so lovely video , great song

  • A small correction to the comment below. The name of the lady between Kitty Parham and Frances Steadman is not Esther Ford but Mattie Williams, who had joined the group instead of Ms. Ford. So from left to right: Marion Williams, Henrietta Waddy, Kitty Parham, Mattie Williams and Frances Steadman.

  • i was in sort of a dark mood yesterday and suddenly in my heart i could hear the sound of Kitty Parham's cheerful voice ringing out "Looking to Jesus!" Amazing how a performance can reverberate half a century later... Just had to come back and say thank you again!

  • @cefinow: happy that this video cheered you up!

  • This is some great stuff here. Ms. Parham lived around the corner from me. She was one of the first "stars" I ever met as a child. I met her and was speechless. I bought a record from her, and I believe that she autographed it. It is still at my mother's house. I am going to have to dig it up.

  • I LIKE THAT SPIN AND BACKWARD SPINA ALL THE WAY BACK UP TO THE GROUP, SHE 'S A GOOD PERFORMER AND SINGER. I LIKE HER.

  • I am always drawn to this video. I absolutely love it. Taddy is right . Something else we neglect to realize is the economy that fed segregation. Where poverty reigns so does ignorance. 3/4 of America in 1962 was too busy just "getting by" to realize that their practices were poison. Business as usual. It never ceases to amaze me how music and the arts inspire people to new levels.

  • wow! she has a lot of energy! who ever is on that piano is killing it! sounds like james cleveland......lol!

  • who is the girl - the 4th girl? Marion comes first, Kitty is 3rd :) PLEASE HELP WHO KNOWS?

  • @dimomoda7 From left to right.... Marion William, Henrieta Warddy, Kitty Parham, Ester Ford and Francis Steadman...... I hope this had help you.

  • When did Mattie Harper die

  • I noticed Kitty skipping backwards, but the Wards never did that after she left. I think she brought a lot of energy and fame to the Ward Singers.....

  • that's gospel, they sang til the power of the Lord came down. Whoever was working out on that piano.

  • Walk that floor Kitty! Man.. those non clappin people are killing me lol

  • @mikogirl99 I was thrown COMPLETELY off!!! And I think the piano player was THROUGHLY confused... LOL

  • @Atldarknight also the distance and reverbration can cause some delay in sound. i can get confused when playing the piano in a big hall far from the congregation, because it takes a split second longer for the sound to reach me, than in the usual small meeting room. another clip from this concert, you will see the pianist and choir get out of sync all by themselves with no help from the audience ;-)

  • does any body notice she was shouting or skipping backwards thats that ward singer in her l.o.l

  • kitty parham is one of my favorite person to sing good songs like that.i wish she was still alive so i can see her in person.channel 860 should put her on there.that will surely suprise me.A LOT!!!!!!!!

  • I really love this video.but kitty parham sings loud and she's really tall.taller than my aunt.

  • lawd i enjoyed seeing kitty go down that aile and dance but marion williams i love even more cuz she is so rowdey with that clappin like i like! 3:23

  • them people don't know what to do lol

  • Dag,Even then they couldn't clap on beat. But you go ahead kitty yall got it!

  • aint that the truth, lol

  • OMG! I had to stop watching for a min... They threw me off!!!

  • That's lie, unless you are blind and deaf, then it's just a mistake.

  • The audience looks VERY comfortable to me.

The Stars weren't able to play to white crowds like this in 3/4 the States in the the US in 1962, Fool.

  • any body notice shes shouthin or skipping backwards thats that ward singer in her,

  • Kitty Parham and Marion Williams are two of my favorite gospel singers/evangelists.

I had a huge crush on Kitty Parham for a long time. Well...praise the Lord.

  • she looks like cindy herron...well vice versa. even more beautiful due to the God in her!

  • GO head yall marion was feelin it so was kitty hey glory!!!!!!

  • marion was FEELIN it so was kitty

  • marion was getiin down on that stage i felt it to GLORY TO GOD!!!! IMDOING A LIL FOOT SERVICE MYSELF

  • You KNOW Marion wanted to go right down that aisle with Kitty....

  • they was not ready for that, lol

  • Yea it would have been too much for them. lol

  • Yea she wanted to cut loose.

  • her mahalia knew how to walk aroud the church, they would have mic cords eveywhere

  • I'm about to shout !!!!!!

  • When I received this footage about 3 years ago, this was one of my favorite portions of the concert! If you look at 1:55, you'll see where a guy puts his arm up to keep Kitty from falling! It seems like she always put her ALL into this song, as well as anything else she sang. Thanks for posting!

  • Yes, Lord Yes, Lord they went str8 to church on this song

  • She was the best performer.....that Kitty Parham sure could belt out a song!!

  • Now, I love this. a little slower, than the other.

  • yes this hit the spot

  • I can hear my girl Mattie Harper really good, her and frances steadman.

  • God bless you for posting this group.I have posted another group from the golden era. (The Jewell Gospel Trio, with Candi Staton)check it out.

  • I love the Stars of Faith, but I'm sorry, I would've had to stop the music and given those folks in the audience an impromptu clapping lesson, lol.

  • LOL! Yes sir, that would've been a major distraction for me!I most definately would've stopped also.

  • Great Post! Nobody was like Kitty lol!

  • Thank you, so awesome!
