  • Bravo très belle musique.

  • I want to learn this piece for my Grade 8 exam. You make it look so easy! I'm sure it's not, though... I'm only 12, so not sure I can...

    Very delicately played,

Well done and thank you for uploading!

  • This is a superb interpretation! I'd say that if Sor or Giuliani were to hear you play, they would congratulate you and admiring the colour you project playing with nails.

  • His pulse is rock solid and clear, as are all of Shearer's students. This is a good thing. It allows the music to come across properly. The same people who say this is boring are the same people who probably find Barrueco boring ;) The thing is, these guys get out of the way of the music, which i really like. This is precise, fluid, clear, and nuanced.

  • wonderful, was the word! thanks for posting!

  • Genial.

  • Wow! David Starobin is a crack! I used to listen him in modern repertory... is one of the great players of contemporary music for guitar. However, their interpretation of music from the nineteen century is beautiful, excelent. This guitar have a nice brilliance for this music. Thanks for posted it!

  • Some found a lack of dynamics, I don't agree. Can we compare modern piano dynamics with a piano forte ? same with modern guitar and a romantic one, less powerful and dynamic. With this instrument the playing is really nice and sensible. Bravo ! encore !

  • I agree with you, I found his playing very dynamic and expressive.

  • Oh great!

  • I love this piece, well played too!

  • It isn't enough to play pleasantly along.the gestures

"rhetorically speaking"are muddled and tepid,in total

contrast to the sonority, which is very clear.

When one listens to the 19th century virtuosi who

recorded over 100 years ago, nobody was this mundane

    and inexpressive.

  • Il est vraiment super! J'aime cette pièce aussi.

Hi GuitarTj, there are numerous Tecla editions of Sor. Try that!

  • Je n'avais jamais ecoute Starobin. Merveilleux!

  • Lovely; five stars for this amazing performance. Can you inform me where I might get my hands on the sheet music for this beautiful peace? A high favorite of mine, many thanks!

  • 5 stars from germany; very beautifully played; I can imagin in a church is a good acoustic; best wishes to you in bosnia- herzegovina

  • Hello, Betel, this is David Starobin,. The piece is a Rondeau, in D major, a delicate piece, very seldomly played, nevertheless. Yes, you're right, Sor did not cultivate nails, and many people at his time followed him (think only of the great virtuoses of their time, Giuliani and Napoleon Coste, a Frenchman like me).

  • I believed to know all music by Sor, but no...

Of course saved to Favorites, thanks!

Sor is said to have played like lutenists, i.e. not with nails. Not easy to see from the video. Can you comment on this, and perhaps on your fantastic guitar?
