@TamayoMeri Slight over exaggeration there, Ame-Chan never says "ah-mi-chayan". However if you're referring to General Error, that is on purpose, he says "Carry-Owe-kay" instead of "Kara-oh-ke", he doesn't like anime/manga fans, but isn't that obvious?

@MakenaiTeam Mmm, you're right, I did over exaggerate a bit there, but her voice is kind of bland sounding and her pronunciation is a little awkward (since she makes certain syllables higher pitched and stressed such as the 'wa' from the sentence "Anime Fans are sacred!" ). I can see that you explained Ame-chan's voice out in a different comment on here, but I hadn't seen it before, so I apologize for needlessly pointing it out again. :'\

It was in sync fine for the first year it was online, then one day we loaded it and it was out of sync. I don't know what YouTube did or changed, but nothing we can do about it without taking it down and re-uploading it.

No sure why there is so much negativity around this, but fair enough. Ame-Chan was voiced by Hel, based on Japanese written and coached to her by me - now it needed to be:

a) high pitched - like most bishoujo characters

b) acted well/atleast how we wanted and

c) recorded in high quality.

I actually pitch shifted Ame's voice higher as again, Hel isn't Japanese and her voice just doesn't reach that high. If you've watched any mahou shoujo series then you'll understand why I did this.

Fair enough you're entitled to your opinion, but what lilyfluffs said is true. I (Scott) can probably pull off the best accent between the two of us, I tried to guide Hel through it, but she hasn't taken as many Japanese classes as I have so it's understandable. Besides, non-Japanese can't completely pull off the accent anyway.

The Japanese chap that reviewed the animation seemed to like it, he pointed out that Hel wasn't Japanese, but he said she was good, guess that's all that matters.

Hi it took about 4 month, but that only after work hours (ie we went to our 9-5's came home and spend 2-5 hours on this most evenings - longer on weekends.

Tip: Just plan ahead, start with a text outline - script it, create storyboards, make them into an animatic then assess any shortfalls like being too adventurous or issues, then just dig in. Life drawing classes help and watching animated stuff. Ultimately just keep at it.

Well thats what happens when nobody will help you with a project like this, you're left to do it all on your own with just the animators (obv. not voice actors) doing the main voices and just have to 'make do' with what voices they can pull off. Neither of them are japanese so of course they don't have the accent.

Hopefully for future projects, people with the right accents will be more willing to help out, but sadly nobody is interested these days unless there's a cash payment invovled :(

If you're talking about the Gimps, they're wearing masks, so you can't see their mouthes. Well the plot only makes sense if your a regular congoer and you go to AmeCon. It's basically one big gag about convention Otaku and glomping. It's an opening animation so there isn't an amazing plot. We mike go epic with the plot at some point, but for now it's just a giggle.
