  • well peta aint said nothing about sea world soooo SHUT FUCK UP TREEHUGGIN BASTARDS

  • just an FYI the video at the end with the two orcas, isnt the trainers actual death....

  • Gente quero o video de sea world california 1989 agosto da morte de KANDU alguem me fale ?

  • to keep such an animal in captivity is a crime against nature and god - i am glad the whale got a little bit of revenge <3 poor guy =)

  • The only way they use to train orcas, is by starvation.

  • i think the trainer could have mistreated the animal and had been doing so for some time . The whale was tired and decided that day in front of all those people he was going to get her that day it was sad but you are dealing with animals who think like humans. If somebody hurts you you are going to find a way to get them back and that is exactly what the whale did to the trainer it was a tragedy but you cant hurt these animals and get away with it either. I think they forget how smart they are

  • Poor Kandu V, and Orkid. Its sick that the trainers just stood there and watched while she bled to death! If that was a trainer, they wouldn't be standing there, relaxing while they died! I like SeaWorld, but sometimes they just make me sick!

  • What do you expect? When you put a huge, poweful, and predatory animal in a tank instead of the wild where they belong

  • i wish i could freeze tinme, steal all captive cetaceans make them able to go bak to the wild and unfreeze time to see the evil aquarium peoples reactions!!! take that bitches!

  • leave animals alone in their own world please people dont be killers ... we are the student of cambridge school and we r begging you people please leave wild animals alone............:'(

  • @rakofiify92 er... they has been a ban on taking orcas from the wild for years the majoirty of the orcas in captivity now are born and are unequipt to live in the wild so your message on this page is pretty pointless...

  • que pena que me da kandu V

  • It's heartbreaking to see footage of this orca spouting straight blood. Imagine the suffering.

  • @FighterForPaula1 it was her own fault though...her domiance is what killed her. the same thing could have happend to her in the wild she would just hit her head of a boat or rock other random objects in the ocean :/ but yes it is sad but she didnt suffer to long don't worry she's in a better place now :)

  • @sazmullium Well dominance of course happens in the wild, but the thing is she could avoid the confrontation, as she would not have been born in the same pod as Corky anyway. I think Sea World pays more attention today at how certain whales fit in with others. Today the pods seem to get along fine.

  • Que soisa mais triste ah mais também essas pessoas tiram o animal do abitat dele claro que ele va se rebelar se alquém fizesse isso comigo eu também me rebelaria

  • thankyou :)

  • english please?

  • @katiedarlin123 (doing my best to translate, note: I'm quoting."That was the 20 year old biologist killed in Canada's Sealand, she apparently slipped and fell in and 2 females and one male drowned her, not known whether it was play or intent to kill, they also talk about a 45 minute fight between Kandu and Corky which had Kandu bleed to death in 1989. Seaworld gave up whales a year after that girl's death and sold them to Seaworld."

Seaworld did not allow trainers in water with whales."

  • @coyote3000999 Sorry at the end I meant to say : "Sealand gave up whales and sold them to Seaworld"

  • didnt you know that God put His words through the lips of paul and other prophets and most of all Jesus.

  • jblong, yes I know that - which is why I corrected you. What do you think St. Paul meant? Obviously many sins have nothing whatsoever to do with money....

  • the love of money is the root of all evil.

  • You're simply repeating yourself now. How does the love of money play into a rapist's crime? Or gluttony? Or road rage?

  • No, most evil deeds are done in the name of power. Money is but one form of power in our society, not the only one that people can seek (for example, the sense of personal power over a victim that rapists enjoy). Others are done in the name of some god, by self-righteous fools not unlike yourself, who are so confident in their perception of right and wrong that they feel justified in enforcing it on others -- often violently. Crusaders and suicide bombers come to mind.

  • It's a simple question... but it seems to be too much for you, dear parrot.

  • i think they should free the orcas, when I read the details and watch how the trainer died. i think the orca is giving us a lesson on how does it feel if we are being played by them also, since we are doing it to them. i think they are miserable, they can be freed they will survive the wild because God made them that way. men are liars and making alibi that they cant survive in the wild coz they love the money it brings to them, God said that money is the root of all evil. repent!!!!!

  • Agreed with EVERYTHING you said BUT the GOD part! :)

  • well its okay. i dont need anyones approval sir. God said that money is the root of all evil. and it clearly shows that the whole world pays big money to go to see the killer whales in the tank, they even eat in front of the whales with tables and chairs. men are so spoiled nowadays

  • Not money, it's the *love* of money that St. Paul declared the root of all evil. Of course, there are other evils that have nothing to do with money....

  • Keltie Byrne - Alexis Martinez - Dawn Brancheau - RIP

  • I think another we need to consider here is Tilly is a transient killer whale i.e. mammal eating, more aggressive than the other types of whale. If so, and he has bre 17 calves in his lifetime, think of how his aggressive genes have been passed onto his offspring in all the Seaworld parks, this puts every trainer at risk really. Also he's being fed tiny bits of fish everyday. Look at him, he's 12000 lbs, these animals live off sea lions, whales, sharks and squids in the wild and they feed fish?

  • Where does it say Tilly is a transient? He's from Iceland, and the Icelandic orcas generally eat fish. Nor has he ever demonstrated aggression before. He didn't kill the girl at Sealand; he was simply in the same tank. He didn't kill the stupid hypothermic dude at Sea World either. He's usually described as lazy and laid-back, like a lot of bull orcas. He's not passing on any aggressive genes that I know of. Seriously, back it up.

  • @ianam

You don't know that he didn't kill the other two. He was at the scene both times. And he was considered dangerous enough so that only the most experienced trainers were allowed in the tank with him. In any event he was caught red-flippered this time.

  • Given the odds, considering there were two females known for aggressive behavior and mental problems in the tank the first time, I'd say he had little or nothing to do with it. Trainers mostly didn't do waterwork with him because of his size. That's true of grown bulls in general nowadays. They don't with Uly either, and he doesn't even have a record. As for the naked dude, autopsy proved that Tillikum didn't kill him. Hypothermia did.

  • Killer whales with mental issues? What a world. Well, I'd probably go nuts in there too.

Tilikum's been on the scene of three deaths now. Keltie Byrne had her clothes all ripped off. And swimming around wearing a dead, naked, hypothermic guy on his back was strange. Now Dawn Brancheau has died. I think it's obvious: we're dealing with a killer whale... and a pervert.

  • They're intelligent. Of course they can have mental illnesses. Freya's a psycho too, and Nami's aggressive... sometimes it's environmental, but a lot of it's just personality. Tilly, like most grown bulls, is usually laid-back and lazy. (Also worth noting: on the scene does not equal guilt. Also, the hypothermic dude stripped himself naked.)

  • The bulls are "laid-back and lazy" and the females have mental issues? Hmmmm,,,,.

  • Some females, not all. Katina's pretty laid-back and lazy herself, Kayla's a sweetheart, and Unna's a gentle girl from what I hear. But keep in mind that in the wild, orcas live in female-dominated pods, even though the males are bigger. So you should expect to see more dominant behavior in females.

(Also, both females at Sealand were pregnant when Keltie was killed. I'm sure that affected their behavior. They were beating up on Tilly a lot, too.)

  • You appear to be knowledgable on this matter. what do you see happening with Tilikum now?

My bet is that after a discrete amount of time has passed he'll be quietly sold off - maybe to a water park in Mexico - and renamed.

  • Nothing. He's too valuable to sell or destroy, ill-equipped to survive in the wild, and technically not guilty of anything except being a large predator, which isn't exactly his fault. Sea World won't do anything to him. This will fade with time. It would fade faster if the media would stop spreading this serial-killer bullshit around.

Unfortunately, Sea World has reduced contact with the orcas, which is confusing the animals. I hope they go back to normal soon.

  • The Only Transient Killerwahles in Captivity were Gudrun oder Kanduke, I don't know who of them, there are a lot of reports that Taima was a half transient. I think it was Gudrun

  • @LaFloful No, Kanduke. And also Knootka, though she never reproduced. Taima gets her transient genes from Kanduke. She passed them on to her sons Sumar and Tekoa, and her daughter Malia.

  • @ianam1983 I know, later I googled that :D I wasn't shure. But thx. But the fact is still that tilikum is not transient =)

  • @LaFloful Tilikum is a transient, as well as Gudrun. I'm pretty sure Kanduke was a resident. I'm also pretty sure Taima is half transient hald resident because I think Tilikum fathered her. I'm not 100% sure on any of that except for Tilikum being a transient but I'm pretty sure...

  • Q DIOS??

  • Rest in peace Dawn Brancheau.Free killer whale Tillikum.

  • What happened between Corky and Kandu wasn't caused by captivity. Kandu and Corky hadn't ever gotten along and Corky was in the same tank as Orkid. Kandu saw red and decided she was going to teach Corky a lesson. It resulted in her death, but what could the trainers have done? Kandu wouldn't let them near her or Orkid. So you know, there's not much a trainer can do when it could be even more dangerous for the animal to get in there and help.

  • Kandu tried to rake Corky (when a whale scrapes their teeth on another to show dominance), she missed, and slammed into a wall. The crowd was reported hearing the slam, and Kandu died from hemmoraging. She swam with her calf Orkid for the remaining 45 minutes before her death.

@elfwhitewave, an Orca couldn't necessarily kill a human in the wild unless they were swimming in arctic waters now could they? Don't be so ignorant to say there is no record, considering the two never meet in the wild.

  • considering that orcas arent limited to the artic waters, yeah it's possible to be killed by an orca in almost any body of water. and speaking of ignorant, it's kind of igorant to say that the two NEVER meet in the wild, considering that they do meet quite frequently in the wild.

it's better to say that in the wild, humans aren't a part of the whales diet. just like humans aren't a part of shark's diets.

  • They're not part of their diet in captivity either. A few -- a very few -- humans have been killed by captive orcas. None have been eaten, however. They weren't killed for food.

  • @ianam1983 Killed out of frustration and anger at being made to act in a silly way I would imagine.

  • I highly doubt it. You're thinking like a human. Though Sealand was terrible with their orcas, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were frustrated -- not by the "silly" acts, but by underfeeding and minimal space requirements.

  • the very few pics I have seen of their tanks, its no wonder they acted like they did

  • damn i used to love killer whales.. free willy to be exact... but not anymore.. i never thought it could killed human..

  • Comment removed

  • @elfwhitewave

they don't kill people in freedom because if they see orcas they go out of the water..

and sorry, but it's stupid to hate this animals, because one orca made a mistake...

  • @UlyssesFan

sorry, but i never wrote that - i dont know if thats a you tube mistake or what the hell it is. i would never say that, i dont know where the hell that came from.????????

  • @elfwhitewave

    really? o.Ô a hacker?

  • @UlyssesFan

    oh i worked it out.

the top half was a message that i was replying too. -(about the free willy, ...i used to love whales now i dont stuff.) that was not me. that was what i was replying too.

what i said was the stuff about whales in captivity attack but wild whales dont... that was me

somehow they got jumbled up,,, dont know how.....either way i deleated it.

  • @denjames88 why do you think there called KILLER whales?

  • because they're known to hunt other whales.

  • I can understand this, I#m from Germany... they are talking about that Tillikum, Haida 2 and another Orca attacked and killed Keltie Byrns.

  • That was the first part of it. The second part (where you see the trainers and the blood int he pool in the back) I believe is when Kandu or Corky (I don't know which one) attacked the other over domination issues or something like that.

  • Tillikum, Haida 2 and Nootka 4. But I'm guessing the females did most of it. They'd both shown aggressive behavior before, whereas Tillikum has never demonstrated any with his trainers at Sea World.

  • they even bullied tilli and chased him in the tank, I blame the females entirely for that attack, Nookta and Haida were bad ass whales with severe behavioral problems

  • I know. And now Tilly's gone and killed all on his own, and no one knows why. He's the last whale I'd have expected it from. Lazy, gentle, and though involved in two previous deaths he wasn't directly responsible for either. I know animals are unpredictable, but they never attack without cause, even if the cause isn't immediately obvious to us...

I just wish I knew the cause behind the latest tragedy.

  • It was Dawn's mistake. The head trainer at Seaworld said this morning on Good Morning America that she was not supposed to be down at face level with Tilly. The trainers, if they are on that platform, should be standing, and not in their faces. It's sad - but it wasn't Tilly's fault, it was hers.

  • @lindasheffield I'm sorry but even if that is true she hardly did anything to prove the whale. And besides, she had worked with this animal for 12 years and they both knew each other so well, and I'm sure she had been on that platform before right next to Tilly but nothing bad happened in the past hundred plus shows that she performed. The pony tail theory behind her attack is also unbelievable as she has always had a pony tail when being in the water with Tilly. Something else caused this.

  • @SailorSexyDork I'll call you on this, Dork. Where where you in 1988?

  • FREE WILLY!!!!

  • I couldn't understand the language, but its tragic looking whatever happened.

  • Apparently the whales were being tortured and food deprived. With that in mind ,cant say witnesses to this didnt get what they deserved.

  • Tortured my ass. Food deprived, same again.

  • buuuuuuuu

  • RIP Keltie Byrne- Aquariums, particularly marine mammal circus acts, are bound to disappear as the public is educated and revolts against it.
-Jean-Michel Cousteau- The display of Marine Mammals was banned out right here after Keltie's torturous, prolonged death.

  • i like sushi

  • what?

  • also die ganzen RTL sender haben ja sollch probleme, scheiße erzählen tun die ja acuh nur -.- als ob kandu aus sealnd stammt -.- ey, die sollten mal besser nachforschen -.-

  • The Sealand Victoria incident happened in 1991, the orcas involved were Tillikum, Nootka 4, and Haida 2, but many believe that it was more so nootka and haida's doing. Byrne fell into the water, and the orcas having never previously been in the water with trainers, latched onto her and started roughousing with her, resulting in her drowning, sealand closed down a few months later.

Second one is footage of Kandu 5, who in 1989, attempted to ram Corky 2 the orca, missed and continued into a wall

  • Kandu actually ended up hitting Corky. But she was moving at about 40 miles per hour and the impact left Kandu with a severed artery. Her mouth was wide open when the attack happened, so that was how she bled to death...

  • She didnt hit Corky....She was going 2 "rake" her but missed and swam into the back pen an hit the wall.....=(

  • No, she actually did hit Corky head on with her mouth fully open. Trainers were concerned that Corky had been really hurt to but she was fine with just a deep rake. Kandu ended up dying because of that. It wasn't a wall, she actually did hit corky.

  • Kandu smashed into Corky, and she broke her jaw, and it triggered a massive hemorahage into her nasal passages. She bled to death withing 45mins. Apaerntly she was swimming and looking alot of blood from her blow hole :(

  • what the fuck?

    What happened?

  • second: YES! poor whales cuz they stay in captivity.

  • for start it...whales in the sea there is not how do attack humans..obvious, we live in earth.

  • Come again?

  • Poor whale this poor whale that, fuck the whales..... What the fuck happened to the poor trainer???? Did she die or something and how?????

  • The first part was a segment on a part-time trainer killer at Sealand. Three orcas took her and pulled her under, we don't know why. The second part...I have no clue. I think it was supposed to be an attack but I didn't see anything go wrong.

  • I'm pretty sure the second part is Kandu V after she tried to rake Corky in 1989. According to Wikipedia, Kandu went after Corky, missed, went into the back pool, rammed the wall, and ruptured an artery in her jaw. She had a 45 minute hemorrhage and died. The little orca seen next to her is her 11 month-old calf Orkid.

    Source: Wikipedia (under "Corky")

  • yup yup ur right there....:(

Kandu must have been extremly angry 2 keep swimming at ull speed even after she missed Corky!!!

    Poor Orkid!!

But Corky became her surrogate mother after the incident!!!

  • I've seen two sides- one where Kandu misses Corky and hits the wall, second where Kandu hits Corky with her mouth open and then swims into the back pool. I don't know which one is right. Either way, I'm glad Corky is a mommy to many.

  • She didnt miss corky, she hit her and broke her jaw and caused hemorage in her nasal passages, she was loosing alot of blood from her blow hole. I read a news paper article about it.

  • @Kiska771 The second part is about the orca KanduV, which crashed into a tank wall after a miscalculation. She has a jaw fracture and you can see her bleeding to death in the pool.

  • @Kiska771 The second part was about Kandu v dying

  • ok poor whale this and poor whale that But What the fuck happened to the poor trainer?????? what happened to her????

  • She passed away, her name was Keltie Byrne.

  • Keltie fell into the tank on the first part and the whales were surrounding her. They didn't attack, from what I understand but played with her. They weren't trained to have people in the water with them so they just thought of her as a mere toy...

  • what happened

  • ??????????????????????????

  • i feel so sorry for those whales..that is cruelty.

  • You totally got mixed up here: Kandu V died in '89 in Sea World, the trainer was killed in Sealand of the Pacific (in Canada) in 1991.

  • no se ve :S

  • Read the OP's comment or the comment below, it'll fill ya in.

  • Its a German Newscast or Documentary talking about the tragedy at Sealand in Victoria BC where a trainer was killed in a pool with 3 orcas. Also the result of the fight between Corky and Kandu at Seaworld, which resulted in Kandy dying.

  • ??????

  • vayanse ala chingada melas ahi no se ve nada melas por gusto me kitan time cargando el video si no se ve nada fuera pendex

  • en español

  • what happend ???

  • Kandu smashed on the wall when she went to show corky who was dominant by scratching. as she missed her jaw smashed on a wall and it started to bleed heavily. She later died.

  • poor whale! how sad.

  • o my fucking

  • is german...in Spanish plis?quiero la traducción por favor!!!!!! no me he enterado de nada!solo se que una orca la mató..:(

  • what is this in a weird language, can anybody translate please?

  • zkurvena nemčina...nemam ani potuchy kdo koho a kde

  • At sea world a dominant orca named kandu V Tried to "rake" corky (scratch her with her teeth to show her dominance). Kandu V missed, and hit the wall of the tank instead. People in the audience heard a large smack. The impact opened up an artery by the whale's jaw and she hemorraged to death. If you look at 1:14 you can see the blood coming off Kandu V as she surfaces and the pool of blood to the right of her.

  • How aweful!

  • In English please senior.

  • in german

  • Removal of these majestic mammals from the wild for commercial purposes is obscene.

  • donde puedo conseguir ese documental???

  • No mola nada es mui aburrido

  • No wat happened was corky 2 was playing with orkid kandus baby and kandu didnt like it so kandu attacked corky but killed herself doing so. ive herd another story when the trainer told them both to do a trick at the same time but it went wrong.

  • what exactly happened here?

  • Messin with nature. hell. :P

  • Video extracted from the documentary to Giganter der Mere. The audio is in German. Collect two of the most disastrous accidents occurred with orcas in Cautividad. On 1, occurred at Sealand of the Pacific in 1991: The coach Keltie Lee Byrne died when they drowned out by Tilikum (now in SWO) 2 and Haida Nootka 4.

  • where the nets the people trying to get her body out of the water?

  • omg that blob in the water @ 1:01 is blood?! i thought it was a shadow.. i dnt understand german so i had to guess

  • well there was a fight between two female orcas. It took 45 minutes and one died.

  • This was very sad but you all have to understand the whales were "playing". Whales do not know any better. The whales who were playing are Tilikum, Nootka IV & Haida II who was pregnant at the time. I believe that this girl knew the risks of being a wild animal trainer.

  • well the report said, that she was not a trainer.

  • @converseKid3000

The Three Whales were sale to Sea World 1 month after this attack.

The Woman died and the whales did not give her death body to the Trainers.

the last pivtures are from Corky an Kandu. thei did fight 45 Minuts and Kandu after this.

sry my englisch is not the best ;)

but I hope you understand what i Mean

  • You are absolutly right. :)

  • ok, i didn't understand a word of that, but i got the jist that the young girl was either killed or injured by the whale.....but what happned to the whale?? what were all those people doing with a big net closing the whale in??

    * *plz correct me if im wrong* *

  • orkid was born by kalina

  • No, Orkid's mother was not Kalina.

  • oh and the reason orcas are also known as killer whales is because they are the "wolves of the sea". orcas hunt in groups and work to gether to hunt larger pray which is something no other animal in the dolphin family dose. Dolphins hunt in groups but dont eat prey larger then they are.

  • These whales wern't used to interacting with people in their tank. Its sad that this girl was killed but thats what happens when your ignorent of the dangers of working with large wild animals.

  • takenbytaku, yeah your correct. I had to read posters comment twice.Kandu v was the aggresor,Corky must have defended herself.Hour or so later after blood through portal? Kandu v died.Corky adopted? Kandu v"s baby and are still alive.

  • wow impresionante

  • So called "Americans" are way stupid. The name "killer whale" was given after the movie "ORCA: THE KILLER WHALE". they really are huge dolphins which happen to feed on meat, they're carnivores and have a HUNTING instinc which is also triggered when they feel in danger

  • Why do people say 'whale'? Orca are DOLPHINS. And what is all this rant saying "dolphins are gentle"? In the wild dolphins rape, commit infanticide, kidnap, fight and Bottlenose have been known to kill Porpoises resulting in brain bleeds, blubber ripped from the bone, broken ribs, deep bite marks and punctured lungs. They are hardly "divine beings". They are powerful, predatory animals. Putting an animal like that into captivity is going to result in accidents and attacks.

  • orca are no dolphins.

  • snaar, they ARE dolphins. The largest dolphin. Do your research before you post.

  • alrighd they are famelie of the dolpfhins but the cunfuision is in the name killing whales, regards from holand

  • killer whale is the common name. Orca comes from its scientific name "Orcinus orca".

  • no, no, "killer whale" name is from a fucking film. orca is the comon name, o in the North Hemisphere, they have been called "black-fish". The scientific name cames from the comon name

  • I think they're also called "Sea Wolves".

  • i don't know in english, maybe, but i don't know. but in spanish, "sea wolves" (lobo de mar) are a kind of seal, the "sea lion" (león marino). in fact, orcas hunt that "lobos de mar". im sorry that in don't know it in english

  • Yeah, orcas are also called a seawolf or blackfish.

  • Orcas are doplhins, but dolphins are whales. So it's basically correct to call them whales.

  • yeah, its right. orcas are "Delphinidae", and "Cetacea" means "Whale", so you're really right

  • I think they are obviosly divine. What...the designation "Divine" to you means the don't kill to eat?

  • yes it's in german!

    Good for me.... -.-

Poor Orcas, they attacked each other and one of them died....

  • yes the end is when Kandu 5 attempted ramming newcomer Corky2, missed and hit the wall, severed an artery, hemoraged for 45 minutes and died, the whole time her new born calf orkid sam alongside her in her final moments

  • thats not what happend....actually it was corky 2 who attacked kandu5 and orkid because they say she was jealous of their bond and she attacked kandu5's calf and then attacked kandu5 for trying to defend orkid

  • there seem to be a lot of diffrent storys idk what really happened anymore

  • this sounds german?

  • yes

  • Gracias!!!

  • ah carajooo me como a esa rica ballenita apetitosa
