  • Thumps up all the way baby!!!

  • we all knew that's a waste of money from the beginning, but, what can we do as we are nothing but peasants?

  • What an independent voice! Joe, I love your video.

  • Using that money for Medicare? lol that's a joke!

  • the govement is greedy, no?

  • Stimulus money needs to be spent in country and stupid scientific studies are a pure waste of money!

  • Mr. Carraro you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to investment in science. Your position that stimulus money spent on scientific research is a waste is a sad testament to the anti-intellectualism of today's America, and this only serves to force America to catch up to the world.

Let's take the examples you outlined in your video:

    (see part 1)

  • @grifonecoronato

    1) The anthropological research being conducted on "Why Africans Vote", will have important impacts on how America builds foreign policy within that continent. How can you see this sort of cross-cultural examination as anything but beneficial.

Do you assume that America lives in a vacuum?

  • @grifonecoronato

    2) Cocaine research on animals can allow us to understand which specific neurological triggers are affected by the drug under certain circumstances, opening the door to new pharmaceuticals being created which, while based on this controlled substance, can have beneficial effects.

Drug companies then base new products on this research! And once approved, potential new drugs will create massive private-sector jobs to market, sell, and distribute it to the population.

  • @grifonecoronato

    3) Collecting data on liquor and marijuana use can help America better understand how her public views issues that its conservative members are afraid of.

For example, if we discover that large swaths of the population use marijuana, and that incarceration due to pot costs us billions each year, wouldn't our public and legal policies change to legalize that activity?

It would allow America to save on prison expenses and refocus law enforcement to more dangerous activities.

  • @grifonecoronato

In conclusion, there is an abundance of worldwide evidence that shows that nations who invest in scientific and academic advancements, whose people value intellect and demonstrate cross-cultural curiosity, and whose population strives for more knowledge have stronger economies and better quality of life.

Scientific study is NEVER a waste, and you shame on you for holding such a position - this is Sarah Palin levels of ignorance, even if you state it more eloquently than she.

  • @grifonecoronato You are of the type who has no idea of what personal responsibility is, or that your neighbors expressions on how to spend THEIR money should be considered before you give it away to some cause you think more important than creating jobs so that they can afford to feed their families or pay for health care that can save their lives

  • @grifonecoronato But it's sad to think that even in that case you would make these investments you address a priority over increased funding for cancer and other medical research, health care for the poor and elderly, etc.

You are typical of a left-wing sort who thinks money grows on trees and whose spending demands has got us in this current financial calamity.

  • @grifonecoronato All your arguments hold no merit when considered in the context that the economic stimulus funds were presented to the American people as used to stimulate OUR economy to create jobs for OUR citizens. When we get our economy stimulated and people get back to work then we can address other issues.

  • @grifonecoronato

ALL the items he listed ARE a waste of money. It has nothing to do with creating jobs for all the stupid science studies he mentioned.

  • so they spent a significant amount of taxpayer money buying cocaine. Why am I not surprised? If these funded projects you describe were actually earmarked by congress it's totally ridiculous on their part. They'd be better of doing nothing, alas we pay them to screw us and call it "doing something."

  • Just Google CTAP and see where billions of dollars are being spent creating jobs pertaining to a global government. Also check out USAID and DFID to see how 3rd world countries are being forced into dependence and servitude by micro-loans (bonded mortgages).

Freedom means freedom to win and freedom to fail. Freedom is not supported by the US govt, who chooses to bailout failures, through stolen tax dollars and regulation.
