Brings back memories; I was B-52 avionics, radar and computer technician in USAF ('76-'80). This is G or H model; you can tell because of the EVS/FLIR monitors. I never flew in one, but was once called on a "redball". A B-52 ready to takeoff on runway, but cannot because of maintenance issue. We fixed the issue in minutes (with engines running), but it was stressful having everyone waiting on YOU only. Luckily, it was easy swap out part and not a wiring issue which might have taken hours to fix.
@evoldevildogs No. There is of course the U.S. Air Force Academy. But there is also the ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) which is an elective available at colleges throughout the country, for students who have their eye set on a commission in the military... Check out afrotc.com
they fly over my apartment complex each time their is a flyover at the academy, for footbal games or whatever. i have a front row seat to the flyover before the go down to the academy. sweet video.
@smguy101 - i am a combat vet who is UNDERWHELMED by the usafs close air support abilities...although i was impressed with the shagging i got from a female Lt. from pope afb.
No we dident but a car can be controlled by a fence or guard rail. A plane cannot. Do we really need to have every jehadi buying planes and crashing one into buildings? We would be giving up control of our airspace. Unlike cars we cant just pull them over before they do something they should not be doing. How would we support the mass influx of people going to airports all of a sudden every one is driving to airports, they would need to make thousands of new airfields. Neat but not practical.
I wish they'd make small affordable planes - something like the size of cars we could jet around in. It sucks that planes are out of the average Americans price range.
Well - we didn't toss out the automobile because there's bad drivers, did we? How about I give you a little time to think this one over? The same thing could be said for a shit-load of other things. too. But It probably wouldn't work to good with millions of people doing it. You'd have to have some kind of traffic control.
It sucks that your average male under 25 abuses alcohol. Thousands of alcohol/vehicle related deaths per year and you want to add more speed and power? It'd be a neat idea but people are people, it'd never work even if your average person could afford it.
Well - maybe we should just turn off life because there's thousands of assholes in every part of it. Sorry - but it's your plan that will "never ever" work.
@HemiHead66 you seem to have taken this way more seriously than I have. Are you actually planning on mass marketing personal use airplanes? Seriously consider your comment there, your generalization is so far fetched and open ended it has no relevance. My point is, it is not feasible simply because there are too many ways to abuse it. I don't care if one person gets drunk and flies into the floor. Imagine a suicidal man with an airplane, a lot more possible damage than a car.
Its not just the sound dampening, you will find the turbines on those bad boys are built with far more lift ability due to the remarkable weights they need to carry... combining the issue.
That's a good goal, hope you make it. I'm an ex-Air Force navigator, if I may make a suggestion: Go to college on ROTC, you'll like it a lot better than the Academy. Or just go to college, then OCS, which is what I did. 3 months of training to become a 2nd Lt. versus 4 years at the Zoo. (and getting accepted to the academy is not easy) Have a normal college life, you'll enjoy it more than being a cadet for 4 years.
What's the tail number on that BUFF?

Trouble is, half the drivers on the road are dicks, with at best bad habbits, & at worst are agressive ignorant assholes.
Imagine that combination, with personal aircraft.

So that's what my house looks like from the air!
For those arguing AGL/MSL, my house is at 6700 feet and there is a ridge between us and the USAFA, so 4000MSL would be kinda tough.
Love the free air shows during football season, need more next year, this past season's flyovers were pretty weak.

That's why I mentioned that top pilots don't always choose fighters. I know not everyone wants to be a hotdog.

Heck, even the bottom of the class get to fly cool stuff. Top of the class usually, not always, pick fighter duty.
LateNightCable 2 years ago
Damn, i've just realized now that military aircraft ar similar to sportscar from one point of view.
Are all about performances no matter how loud it is. I don't think they use much dampener panels like the liners.
It's noisy in there. O_O
Nice stuff anyway, reminds me the movie 'Dr.Strangelove'.

Let's say you're at 4000 feet MSL (feet above sea level) and you fly over a 3000 foot mountain. Guess what, you're now at 4000 MSL and 1000 AGL.
Idiot.

Sure you were the pilot ?? getting below 4000 must have been tough seeing as how the ground is about 5,000 in Colorado Springs ! lol
