Where are such true, simple, and inspiring people? Eternity is in the truthfulness of one's heart. I like this song and voice. Thank you for this upload
The fellow who wrote disparagingly of your dad's singing is suffering from some personal insecurity and is also hasty in judgment. Pity him for his limited mind. Your dad indeed had an excellent voice for one who wasn't a professional singer. Besides, the great Saigal died in his late 40s, and your dad must have been in his 70s when he sang this number. Yet he never faltered even once. You have every reason to be proud of him.
i'm not an expert, but i feel he had an amazing voice. thousands of views for this video.. a perfect tribute to his talent!.. may his soul rest in peace...
Such a lovely video - one of my favorites on youtube. I am from a musical family too and this brings back so many memories. I keep thinking I will record my dad's videos, but we never get around to doing that. I'm glad you did. I am also inspired to convert my dad's old cassettes to CDs now - they were released yearsss back. The nice thing is your father looks like my papaji. Are you guys originally from Amritsar, Punjab by any chance?
I thought the song was sung very well and agree with a comment below that the idea was not a competition. I really appreciate this effort. Fail to understand some of the very unkind comments here.
I have nothing against your late father. He may have had a voice like Saigal but I am speaking the truth when I say he did not sing like the great legend...I am an ardent Saigal fan and have listened to all his songs. I don't mean to hurt your feelings but I cannot lie...
This singer was obviously not trying to "compete" with Saigal or others. He was simply trying to sing his heart and enthuse the listerners. He was nostalgic of the bygone era of real music like most of us.
@Navvuji : Ummm, not that I am an expert , but I could tell some strains of his voice matching K L Saigal. After all K L Saigal was a professional singer. For household singing, this gentleman sings pretty good. I liked this voice and song.
Thank you for letting us into your private life! So long as you remember (and can play) his music , he is with you!
What impresses me the most about your father's singing is that he can convey the richness of Saigal without resorting to the forced and obvious mimicry many are guilty of. Long live Saigal, Long live all who love(d) him!
he has got a certain quality in his voice which professional singers have....feel like listening to his songs again n again...Have u got anymore of his videos?
I am very proud of him; he was a wonderful father; my life will never be the same without him. He was an extremely good human being, too. No one who knew him had an unkind word to say about him. I adored him and my life is so much the poorer without him.
Like I said before, Daddy never studied music unlike Uncle Om and unlike his sister Prem, but he loved it and it is something I have inherited from him. In fact it is my love of music that led me to meet my husband who I married in November 2006.
My father knew Mukesh and CH Atma; this was due to my Tayaji who had and still has a beautiful voice and wanted to be a professional playback singer. Due to my grand-father's objections, my Uncle Om, who is also known as Kamal Siyalkoti never did sing professionally. But he composed music that has been used by people in the film world. Many playback singers know him and accord him a lot of respect.
My father passionately loved music; but he had never studied it. He taught himself how to play the harmonium and he would play it almost every evening and along with a drink or two sing KL Saigal, Hemant Kumar (on occasion) and some Mukesh.
Very well sung! It is one of Saigal's best, if not the best songs. Could we please have some more songs from your father? And what is his name. Thank you very much for making his singing accessible to many.
I am truly sorry to hear about his passing away. He sang so beautifully, with such feeling. May he rest in peace and may you always remember the music in him.
God bless him. Must have been a lovely dad. Hope he is in a better world. Thanks for sharing

My heartfelt condolences on your father's passing. They simply don't make people like this any more.
It's wonderful on your part to have preserved his image and voice like this...and to let so many lives
like mine be touched by his song. I am sure he must be
singing duets with Kundan Lal Saigal himself up there
and that both of them would be smiling kindly down on all of us and showering you in particular with their
blessings and affection. God bless you always.
