This game was the first Red Wings game I ever went to it actually took place in the 86-7 season (I believe it was in Feb of 87) I was in the 8th grade and there was a bad snow storm that night. Thought we wouldn't have school the next day so my dad took us instead of his buddies from work. The NorthStars won in OT and we didn't get home until well after 12am. And yes, I had to get up at 6am and go to school the next morning.
@ArneFufkin He did call him a milk-truck driver and Jacques said he was upset because he used to drive a Pepsi truck. Herb and Jacques were friends, so I doubt there was any "real" hate involved in this, just competitive intensity.
Hey j'en reviens pas comment les gens sont rendus des caves ! Des commentaires à propos de M. Demers par des personnes qui savent à peine écrire Vous faites pitié...
ive got news for ya froggy, demers is as dumb as a bag of door knobs, when you have talent on the ice,how much common sense does it take to say line change give me a break your a retard like jacques
I actually waited on Demers at the Li Marriott back when he started the Dead Wings around. I remember asking him about this kid Yzerman and he said his ticket is already punched for the HOF. It wasn't untile decades later that I realized he couldn't read. I thought that night he was testing my wine knowledge by asking me what I recommended. He was most savvy and protective. The methods he went through to be a public figure were admirable. Too bad embarrassment overtook commensense...
ff Jacques Dermers... Un autre vendu... Avec son histoire de voter selon ses convictions et ensuite s'abstenir du vote à cause de la position des partis.
That's not true because Detroit had to compensate St.Louis with cash, and another notable fact was that Jacques Demers was not under contract in St.Louis.
Detroit was wooing Demers while he was still under contract during the Blues 86 playoff run... this is well known. The NHL should have voided the contract with the Wings paying a - substantial - fine to the Blue Note. Or, if JD was allowed to remain in Detroit, the Blues should have received significant draft picks or established players in return. But the worst run major sporting league chose to basically look the other way.

I heard that Herb Brooks wrote something on a piece of paper and showed it to Jacques and he was upset because he didn't know what Herb had wrote.

Demers, stolen from the Blues in a well documented tampering case...
Of course, the NHL never punished Detroit. They're an original six franchise.

In this day and age,Detroit would have gotten fined for tampering and St.Louis would have to be compensated with draft picks and players.

Jacques Demers was the lowest paid coach in the league when he was with the Blues. No one was going to stop his "promotion" to the Wings.
