@jaf7808 Sure did. I have maybe 4 videos in my profile. One of then is called lynx with rabbit, it's hard to see but it's walking away with a rabbit in it's mouth.
@jaf7808 Sure did. I have maybe 4 videos in my profile. One of then is called lynx with rabbit, it's hard to see but it's walking away with a rabbit in it's mouth. I also have another where they walk up onto the road with thier kittens.
its like 'cant people just go on their way and leave me the fuck alone'. I mean Im not bothering anyone am I'. I just came out to stretch my legs and maybe get some food and now there is some cunt following me making stupid fucking noises. Cunt! I gonna rip this piece of shit to pieces and scratch his face to pieces and shit on it and then run off whilst he bleeds to death.
@computerstuffkid The Lynx isn't a Cougar, it isn't going to kill anything except rabbits and the like. The Lynx is about the same size of a Shetland Sheepdog.
Or it could be that it knows its the top predator in the area and really is not concerned about you. In fact its probably ticked off because its stalk for dinner was ruined by a pesky human. :-)
Feline distemper is far more common than rabies in bobcats and lynx, and sadly fatal. Good chance this is what was going on, unless this critter was just accustomed to people.
@tirpitz19 They are not as frequent as they used to be, however the numbers are debated since biologists lied about the numbers in Montana to keep them on the endangered species list.
It's interesting how he/she looked at the camera and then looked away without feeling any threat .
veritasfiles makes a good point about the rabies, unless this is very close to a town and people often walk there there is something not quite right, but in any case beautiful animal.
it just goes to show you every sterotype of big cats aren't always true. i've heard so many time that if you walk up to a BIG CAT that it will tear your head off. and i have never believed it. it depends on if you are threaten it or if it's hungry enough to kill. it all just depends. and NO this cat wasn't interested in you even though you did disturb him in his hunt for food. he DIDN'T attack!!
Be careful if a lynx of bobcat doesn't run from you. Though they may be hunting, they'll usually still run. Often, when they do not run, they are actually sick. It could be that this cat was in the early stages of Rabies and died about 2 weeks after you shot this. Getting close to a wild cat like that can have dangerous consequences.
@foxhounduk2k8 Well, it doesn't mean I was right but whenever you come upon a wide animal that isn't inclined to run from you, think twice about letting it get any closer. Rabies treatments are precautionary if bitten, and they NO FUN AT ALL.
@mako7828 The first sign is its lack of inclination to run. Properly functioning animals that aren't either sick or starving will generally run at the first sight of a human being, especially relatively close. But you're right, other signs are definitely related to aggression and occasionally they'll appear disoriented or almost drunk. Those are definite signs that Rabies may be involved. Hopefully, you're not there when the only real sign is aggression because you'll almost certainly get bit.
@veritasfiles Lifetime montana outoorsman here, I am not in the slightest bit worried about it, although for other reasons I do not believe people should walk up to a wild animal.
@mako7828 Yeah, I don't disagree with you. The likelihood of you coming upon an animal that has rabies is actually pretty minimal. Just a simple word of warning, not anything to get hysterical about.
I had a very similar experience like this in northern BC, no camera though. I think lynx can be curious about people sometimes, that's why they let you walk up close.
@fortboy84 I'll be going back to that spot in january to see if they are still around it's been a year since I was there. I don't live there just work there in winter.
