  • I'm a dark skin black man and have been called things but guess what? I have never let it get me down because I have usually said something back to the people who said it. I'm proud of my complexion, just as these women should.

  • They are racist. Against there own race

  • Im a dark skinned girl and I feel that all these gilrs in trailer need some serious self esteem. I have never felt that I was not beautiful just because I am darker in complexion. It seems like thise girls are all asking for pity and I think until they love themselves and what they see in the mirror, that is the only way people will love them. But as for me, I love my dark skin and I will never consider myself a victim because of that.

  • @dupsiebabie When you're being brainwashed since your childhood - by the media, your environment and even your family and friends- that light skin=beautiful, it is rare to be dark-skinned and have a high self-esteem. Maybe you've always been able to appreciate what's in your mirror because some helped you to do so. I've always felt beautiful because my parents taught me to value myself. Not every child is given this birth right. Please be aware of that...

  • Unfortunately, darkness in skin color is an "issue" amongst not just African American community, but many other cultures such as China, India, Pakistani, etc. As African American, yes there's the whole slavery issue that fueled it, but then again in Africa skin lighting also exist.

Let's put and end to Hitler's legacy and accept and appreciate all our differences. No H8 people! There are far more important things to focus on life than the color of our skin!

  • @alifeapprentice This has less to do with Hitler, than Hollywood's caste protocols.Hitler had nothing to do with "Precious","The Blind Side","Glee","The Help",Bad Santa","The Prince of Tides","Gone with the Wind","Gimme a break","That's my mamma","What's Happening","The View",and I could go on and on through out history in various forms of mass media. What the fuck does Hitler have to do with the marginalizing of brown skin women by Hollywood and Madison ave?

  • @NitimurInVetitum7 I don't think you got what I was saying. I meant the believe that being as light as possible (the whole light skin, blond hair, blue eyes) concept as being the most desirable trait is Hitler's legacy.

Hollywood is just a reflection of real life and peoples ideas. Why would I compare a documentary to Hitler? O_o

  • @alifeapprentice You understand neither Hitler nor Hollywood. It's not cool to be stupid.I hope you're not black.Whoever you are,you are allowed to THINK.Thinking requires EFFORT.

  • I didn't think of this as an issue anymore... I am dark and other than the fact that I have acne scars, I think my complexion is lovely! I used to have issues with it but now (I'm 18), I would never think of it as a curse. My concern is keeping this complexion of mine as healthy & acne-free as possible! When it comes to skin, it's about the quality for me, not so much the colour (except for even-tonedness). Am I the only one who feels this way? Please..

  • Oh..I'm black, was born in Portugal and love my beautiful chocolate skin.

  • To those who are saying, 'get over it' or expressing those kind of sentiments, have you never had any particular struggle in your life which you know only those who have experienced it can truly feel and relate to?? If you can think of something which qualifies then you shouldn't be so quick to say these ladies need to get over it. I'm a white woman from a predominantly black community, and I can name numerous instances where I have witnessed this light skinned bias firsthand.

  • First of all...most American Blacks are mixed due to being systematically raped during slavery...Black women..systematically raped...OK! In most Black families there are a wide range of colors...we have very blacked skinned people in our family, and very white skinned people..and we all love them the same!

  • Too many of the women in this film were UGLY!!Part of the problem is the preponderence of ugly women representing black women in the media. We've been conditioned to think ugliness like poverty is the essence of being black.Ugly women and poverty is seen as "keeping it real".Did anyone noticed that the few pretty women had snobish attitudes and the rest were just plain homely? These women would have been undesirable even if they were high yella. The bottom line is that SELF-PITY IS UNATTRACTIVE!!

  • @NitimurInVetitum7 so they have to be gorg for us to realize that it's messed up? did you HEAR the specific experiences they endured that were tied to their color? oh and if they were high yella, they'd have more social currency just based on that and would NOT have endured much of what they did. If you are not dark, you have no freaking clue what their experiences are like. so be quiet please, you sound like such a child who can't look past the obvious surface and comprehend complex issues.

  • @stop08it The "surface" is where you live. What would you know about "complex issues"?You have the critical thinking skills of a child.Grow up.You're too old to STILL reason the way you do,and it's not cute.If you want to be "hip" and "cute",write comments about the dangers of smoking. This subject is way too serious for your crocodile tears.

  • Black women who feel sorry for themselve I'd like to kick in the fucking head. Why is self-pity STILL part of the black identity? We ought to be the most cold blooded, ruthless, pitiless ethnic group in america for all crying about being black has done....Then there is the brown skin woman at the end, with that silly condescending expression telling the viewer to "Rise".."Rise".Fool you're the one with jacked up hair that screams "I am inferior"!! How can you "rise" AND feel sorry for yourself?

  • I love my dark skin this doc is sooooooooooooooooooooo negative and sad. I LOVE MY DARK SKIN ,this doc is the bottom of the emotional barrel, twisted and crazy. I grew up in an all white/jewish hood and I did well,I thrived being different,I still do. Gorgeous nappy hair and all. I m so sorry other women who had such a horrible experience in our body type. Independant loving spirit is called for. This self hated is FUELING man made DEMONIC energy by devouring the best , KNOW THIS. LOVE THYSELF!!

  • Black Women = Global Nutcase

  • @caramelking2000 Get your trolling ass on somewhere

  • I feel like all women are beautiful in some way, or at least have the potential... These women in the video are beautiful just to look at. Some women aren't beautiful by looks, but more personality. And if neither are obvious, then they could be found if given a chance. So for anyone to say darker women are not beautiful simply because of skin color is sad. And I feel that way for those saying that too light is ugly too. Skin color shouldn't be the characteristic to determine beauty.

  • All these women are beautiful! The fact that these women dealt with these traumatic experiences is undeniably glum. I am a light skin woman and I can not stand the way black women are in this stage of light skin against dark skin. The fact of the matter is that it's in our psyche. We MUST get out of that mindset. Believe me If your light skin you may have received some benefits but at the end of the day you are still black so we have to STOP this!

  • I'm sorry, but dark skin on a woman just isn't attractive at all. I'm not talking about regular brown-skinned black women, I mean DARK ones like the ones in this video. The funny thing is, I don't find pasty white girls attractive either, which is something I can say in public without judgement. But if I make a comment on dark women, all of a sudden that means I hate my mother and my race, and all that stupid BS. Why is it OK to find one extreme skin color unattractive but not the other?

  • @ForumLinkzMann LMAO OMG your ignorant....

  • My question is, what if your a guy with a light skin tone who's mother is dark but father is light but you say you don't like dark skin tone women and you get that light skin tone women you searched so desperately for and you marry her and when you have kids they inherited the grandmother dark skin tone traits, does this mean you hate your mother and children because they are a darker skin tone??? If so this is so sad!!!

  • lets be honest, dark skinned black girls are nasty. even light skinned 'sheboons' are ugly, but less so. I'm not black, so am giving an honest opinion. Who the hell wants to date a tar black, big lipped, nappy headed, loud mouthed nig?

  • @chillipeanuts A nigger is defined as a dumb/ignorant person, thus it does not mean 'black'. "Big lips"? LOL. Caucasian women are fucking up their faces trying to make their lip sizes bigger through means of plastic surgery. Oh, and scientifically speaking, "tar black" skin is aesthetically and genetically superior to lighter skin: African/dark skin ages slower than light skin, deals with less facial blemish than light skin, and gets less (if any) diseases than light skin. Facts bro, facts...

  • @ManOfBamboo I'm with you on this! And as far as what a nigger is defined as, I know a lot of white people who fit the description. No one is a nigger because they are white or black, they are a nigger because of the way they act!

  • @emceeslo Nigger was clearly used as a racist term to dehumanize blacks...

  • @TheUndertakerSaysRIP Read the Oxford English Dictionary’s definition. The word is to describe someone who is ignorant or uncouth. It makes no reference to race mate.

  • I felt so sad for all these women...............what's wrong with people?

    Love to all of you.

  • Human race is f*cked! Stay black you beautiful things. I believe you will rule the world again one day.

  • Dark skinned girls light skinned girlsbrown skin girls

  • This is absolutely ignorant. I am a dark skinned woman. My family considers me dark but outsiders have told me I have a brown skin color (whatever). I can honestly say I have NEVER felt bad or got laughed at behind my color. Of course, my family is creole so when i was younger I wanted to look like everyone else. No matter your complexion, if your self esteem isn't healthy you are going to feel bad. Love it or leave it, I love my skin color. My ex's say I taste like chocolate! lol... One luv.

  • @phatkitten honestly to me it seems like you have been one of the luckier ones. you havent been targeted. try going to an all white school and you are dark. you will be laughed at and called names bc racism is still alive. back in the day with the AKA's you had to be light skinned with pretty hair. you COULDNT have an afro. and you had to be pretty so then that's when the Delta's came. they are the afro havin dark skinned girls and they're the "Baddest" on every college campus that i know of.

  • @zahrasweetie202 Hi! I'm not saying the women or ignorant, I am talking about the subject matter. Racism is the ultimate of ignorance, to me. Especially black on black racism. My nick name from my momma is "Black". And my momma is not looking at a guy unless he is black as tar and in the summer she is all under the sun. And for the dude on the trailer, I aint made that u like light women, shit I don't like broke dudes w/ looks of bad hygene lol... Live life, love yourself and embrace who u are.

  • @phatkitten EXACTLY!!!! the doc's like a horror film, I'm dark and I NEVER felt bad. Actualy as I get older I like it more and more... my white friends are starting to wrinkle and

    I'm not!!!

  • @phatkitten so some people arent like you

  • Not only rise dark girls...rise black people. I am a light skinned woman that still carries scars from childhood because I was treated badly by darker skin girls. I didn't realize why until I grew up because it was never in my consciousness. My mother was dark skin, my grandmother and my little sister so it was in my family. Why would I feel that I was better? So...I say rise black people. We need to start loving ourselves. If we don't...no one else will

  • Thanks emceeslo

  • This video is Troll Bait.

  • Im actually jealous of dark skinned girls, to me they are SO beautiful and I wish people treated them that way

  • I don't know what it feels like, but dark girls should know they are admired, loved, and they are absolutely beautiful.

  • First I like to say I am not Black, I am South Asian, but a dark skin South Asian. This is not just in the Black community its found in Asian, African, Carribean and etc communities. People constantly compare the dark skin girl to the light skin girls and placing the light skin women above dark skin women, if your not dark skin you wont understand. People of my race alwats says I am beautiful for a dark skin girl. NO I AM BEAUTIFUL BECASUE I AM BEAUTIFUL, MY SKIN TONE DOESNT DEFINE MY BEAUTY!

  • @AAngel236 I am also South Asian. I assume you are Indian, probably South Indian. Those southern people are nasty too. Short, nig looking. Dont cry. Luck has it that loads of Pakistan and North Indian girls are hot, so we have options. Below Delhi....nah!

  • @AAngel236 I think there needs to be an official dark skinned people of the world get together and unite month. And scare the shit out of ignorant light skinned people, cause they d be deathly afraid of all the self love, pride and power we'd generate. They'd have no "lesser"humans left to maintain their illusions of power over and their egos would fall apart. I HAVE A DREAM!!!

  • I put off my workout and singed in just to post this. I am a black man of medium completion and I never caved into the negative and subliminal messages sent from the media in the US the causes shadism in our women and girls.

These women should have grown up in my neighborhood in Pittsburgh PA where REAL black men know how to treat our women in public and private. We are not brainwashed against our own kind. To my dark-completed sisters, I will not let ignorance separate me from you!

  • @emceeslo 90% chance you're dating either a high yella or a non nig.

  • Comment removed

  • @chillipeanuts My girl is a very dark-completed sista borne in Lagos, Nigeria. So sorry but %90 chance you failed!

BTW, what's up with the "non nig" in your comment? What was meant to imply? Go sit down and don't bother with an ignorant response. The comments I think up whilst I sleep will embarrass the best you and your crew offer up. Just take my word for it and don’t even try it. You can think about it, but I’m telling you now, don’t do it!

  • @emceeslo My girl is a dark skinned mixed girl that is half black and half white (like me), but she looks completely black. The most beautiful skin of all, really.

  • How can anybody dislike this?!

  • BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL! Love the skin you're in ladies!

  • Wow! This video told my whole life story in less than 10 min. It touched my heart in so many ways.I LOVE THE SKIN I'M IN!

  • What I take away from this video is that it is nice to put out a documentary that shows the struggles that some (not all) dark skinned black people go through (including my husband and I), I hope that more people create documentaries that expose us all to the struggles that a lot of other people go through. whether it is a matter of skin tone, religion, race, or anything else humans try to segregate or categorize.

  • all the women on here are soo beautiful, praying for women of color to be respected and the scars of slavery to be healed ,but you women are so beautiful inside and out !!!

  • when i was growing up i was always attracted to the darkest & prettiest girl in the room, but they generally wanted someone lighter. But in my family (Afro-Caribbean) of various mixtures i am very glad we did not grow up hearing that stupidness.

  • We all are koons!

  • this is crazy. as a white, european female i've always had a particular preference for dark-skin ladies. The darker the better. Great visual appeal. somebody address this issue immediately and reassure those ladies who may doubt, in any way, their external stunning God-granted beauty. There are snowflakes out there that are looking just for that :)

  • @78musiksphere youre a lesbian ?

  • @TheVigilantetv1 95% ;)

  • whats with this "dark girls " shit??? do darker skin girls really feel darker skin is a problem??? people like beautiful people ..and just cause a women is dark skin dont mean she is automatically beautiful....which is the way alot of dark skin girls think....you dont see sexy hot dark skin girls having all these issues....beauty is beauty face it.......stop acting like just cus your dark skin women that your beautiful..!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @nutlil2 what are you talking about? Dark skin women dont think theyre automatically beautiful because they have dark skin

  • @TeamMINAJ11 so whats all this shit coming from dark skin girls like people dont think thier fyne??? ive always kinda prefered darker skinned girls i dont get all this stuff....we all know some people think dark skin is ugly and that they are stupid but screw them!

  • @nutlil2 ohhh ok i misunderstood your comment

  • *Shades

  • The parents and family member doesn't educate their children to understand the purpose of different shape.. In man made systematic organization its meaningless because man do their best to mimic and challenge nature.. Example: You have the whitest man, brown man, and blackest man all are healthy, and all are trapped in a extreme hot desert for months with no clothes and no shade, who do you think will survive the longest?

  • Skin tone is a small matter..

  • People tend to find certain physical traits to be attractive. Get over it. Men tend to prefer long hair, slender build, and a particular hip-to-waist ratio in women. Get over it. Women prefer guys who still have their hair and are tall. Get over it. And yes, people typically prefer a lighter skin tone. Again, GET OVER IT! Did you honestly believe preferences in physical traits would arbitrarily exclude skin tone?! You're not being rational.

  • @austinguy23 people dont prefer lighter skin tones....if you met the majority of people on earth you would know that

  • @nutlil2 I guess that's why you see a lot of light skinned black girls on YouTube complaining about how all the dark skinned girls get male attention, right? Oh wait...it's the other way around.

  • @nutlil2 thats a stupid comment. not everyone is able to travel around the world and get exposure like that.

  • Comment removed

  • Has this movie been officially released? Will it air on Tv or in the movies? I am only hearing about it tonight. Its so important to let little girls know how beautiful they are in all their different hues. The comments that young women hear as girls often shapes their opinions of themselves and others later in life.

  • Boy oh boy....whitey has done a number on us as a people. We destroy ourselves and do whiteys dirty work for him. We have to rise above this MESS! Wake up people!!!! How can black folks be so IGNORANT!

  • Light skinned women aren't even good enough for black men. They want white all the way.

  • @smilee1505 That is so disrespectful and derogatory. My mom is light-skinned. Does that mean she is not good enough for my father? How can you say someone is not good enough for a person based on skin color? I think you have issues and need to see a psychiatrist.

  • Black folks have been brainwashed by white society and hurting each other. Doing whiteys dirty work for him.

  • Reminds me of how I felt when I read "The Bluest Eyes" by Toni Morisson.

  • All of these queens R DROP DEAD GORGEOUS THAT'S WHAT MAKES THIS A SHAME, ESPECIALLY THE LITTLE PRINCESS PEARL ON TYRA BANKS SHOW WHO IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD AND ISN'T THAT DARK AT ALL. SHE'S THE SHADE OF A NICE WARM CUP OF HOT COCOA WITH THE MARSHMALLOWS MELTED IN IT, AND NO I AM NOT A PEDO BEAR, BUT I'M JUST PUTTING THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE AND HEAVEN ON EARTH AND JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK BECAUSE THE TRUTH IS COMING 2 LIGHT!! READ GENESIS 15:13-20 4 THE TRUTH!!

  • Bill DUKE I NEED 2 GET IN TOUCH WITH U CAUSE I'VE GOT A PROGRESSIVE SCRIPT ABOUT DRUG DEALING, and if ANYONE reading knows how 2 contact him or John Singleton or Tyler Perry hit me up or email me @ mwanzie.saffa@gmail.com

  • Me and my 11- year old offspring are I going to see this together. Beautiful and exact.

  • some of these stories are really sad.. and i dont care what NO ONE says .. until you have lived with dark skin and see the negativity that comes along with it YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND! point blank period. I love how people are so quick to say "oh dark skin women need to get over it and stop feeling sorry for them selves" and its always someone who is not dark skin themselves. If it were the other way around, you wouldnt feel that way. Guarantee.

  • This is probably correct:I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND. Yet, I sympathize with your pain. I wish I could be a teacher to every dark skin child.I would make sure to teach them to see how dark skin is better looking than lighter skin.Isn't this the reason why most people like to bathe in the sun until they tan? I like & love people by who they are not by the color of their skin. Those who don't are missing in the whole human experience. Please, let us grow in love for everyone as much as for the self!

  • @btinaf

"dark skin is better looking than lighter skin"

I think you are missing the point. No skin tone is superior to another. Dark skin and light skin are both beautiful. What makes someone beautiful is their overall appearance. Both dark and light skin can be a nice individual feature but they are not the deal breaker when it comes to beauty.

  • @btinaf thank you for your comment. If only other people had your mindset ...

  • This is very sad and its true..If this problem didnt exist in the black community you wont find people bleaching their skin..But I do have to say that "Dark" skin girls in America dont carry themselves gracefully as dark skin women in Africa...Im from Africa and my husband is too and he told me he doesnt know why dark skin women in America are so ugly???????

  • I also think everyone likes a beautiful woman, I think some dark skin women blame their dark skin for being unattractive when actually you just haven't done anything to make yourselves attractive. There are dark skin women that are very beautiful and have no problem, they may get a few less dates because some bm are also affected mentally by slavery and propaganda but they still get praised for their beauty. Women who don't make themselves attractive and complain, who should you blame.

  • Comment removed

  • Dumb are all those who say things like "we come in all colors, we need to love one another,I can't believe this problem still exists,etc..

I doubt any here have a clue/interest in really understanding the issue. Colorism exists in "mixed up" ass Latin America as well, and it's not just light vs dark skin!!!

As for an examination of the geneology of negroes in North America read the book "NEW PEOPLE Miscegenation and Mulattoes" by Joel Williamson (1980).

  • No one is really talking about the 600lb Gorilla in the room. WHITE SUPREMACY. Until we address that issue, this fking documentary is meaningless. It started in slavery and it is fueled by racism thru the media. No one is talking about the source of this problem. The only reason white men date black women is they have a fetish.

  • @kundalini1128 i think they avoided mentioning that, at least not in the trailer, ia because it would make it seem like the entire film is about hating white people. i'm pretty sure it's at least mentioned in the actual film, but they avoided it in the trailer for publicity reasons.

  • my mother told me that dark skin women back in the days had a hard time in the south that why she left and came up north but if you learn to love who you are the skin would not matter we come in all shades of color that is what makes us a rainbow be proud of your skin you are beautiful no matter what color you are.

  • Part 2 yellow brick road on light skin sisters, which is even more painful. When your light you're closer to white! To many black ppl u are either mixed, white...to many they get even more flack!!

  • That girl at 1.41 is really beautiful.. I played her about 5 times LOL

  • Wow I can so relate to many of those comments. It's really a shame that black people can have such a distaste for those in their own race.

  • You know what's funny. These negative stereotypes are dominated within our own community? Self hatred?

  • All I have to say it is that this literally brings me to tears. I am black and as a kid in grammar school I never thought about color differences because in my household that was never bought up and I never heard anybody bring it up at my school. I just remember knowing I was black. So I was shocked when I got to high school and my dark skinned friend told me that people would say she was "pretty for a darkskinned person". I was so shocked that other black people said this to other black people!

  • I'LL JUST SAY WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS THINKING: MOST OF THE GIRLS IN THESE TRAILERS ARE BELOW AVERAGE LOOKING! I HATE IT WHEN THEY DO THESE DOCUMENTARIES THEY ALWAYS PICK UGLY DARK SKINNED GIRLS...WELL NO WONDER IGNORANT PEOPLE THINK DARK SKIN GIRLS ARE UGLY...THEY'LL JUST WATCH THIS DOCUMENTARY AND SEE HOW NONE OF THE GIRLS ARE PRETTY...I HAVE SEEN SO MANY PRETTY DARK SKINNED WOMEN (MORE THAN LIGHT IMO) BUT THIS TRAILER ISN'T REPRESENTATIVE OF THAT...PLEASE GIVE ME KELLY/GABRIELLE/OLUCHI WOMEN

  • I can remember a time when I was in the 2nd grade and my teacher asking who was Jewish at that age I didn't know what being Jewish was so I raised my hand and before I could say anything, my teacher a Caucasian woman said "No you can't be Jewish because you're BLACK" I'm in highschool now and I believe that what she said to me at thatage proves how these things stay with a person through out their life. My grandmother is a dark skinned woman mom is the opposite im medium yet we're all BEAUTIFUL.

  • I know for a fact that if I was given that test at 02:20 when I was 3, I would have said that it was stupid and that I couldn't tell who was smart or dumb just by looking.

  • I totally think the white girls are beautiest. Im i racist?

  • @vihtorik Who would care about what you think? XD

  • @vihtorik yup. a racist with bad grammar.

  • Most of the chicks in that trailer? Totally fuckable.

  • I wish I could ease the suffering of these girls, though I'm not black. I won't pretend I understand what they're going through, even though I've been a victim of bullying for being white in a predominately hispanic area. It's different, I suppose. What I do believe, though, is every one of those girls are beautiful. From the lightest of the light, to the darkest of the dark, beauty is not bound by color. The most beautiful images contain the entire spectrum. Be proud of who you are.

  • @Rabbitsketch Your words are beautiful and inspiring. =]

  • "...for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart"

    1 Samuel 16:7

  • Some of these aren't even dark to me, they're brown...

  • Its not just women who have this feeling too. Its spreads to men as well.

  • 8:42 I dont know for the other Caribbean but when you are talking to Haitian the first thing they`re telling you is that they are black even the white ones

  • @yay17793 so true! I and all my family always say we are Black first. If you ask us what part of the world, we say Caribbean/Jamaican. But we'd never say African American.

  • Comment removed

  • @everagej I can't wait for the day when all realize that race is a man-made social construct erected for the specific purpose of dividing people. There is only one race; the human race.

  • @jigary True, although I think that the concept of race is not entirely a man-made thing, at least physically. There are physical differences in the groups that we call races, so it depends on how a person defines race. And I agree, people should not decline to voice their nationality when being asked what or "who" they are by somebody. I am biracial, but I am also British-Nigerian.

  • @ManOfBamboo I bet to differ. Whether you believe that we all were created or all come from primodial soup the fact would be that we came from one family. Race is one of many concepts that someone created in order to divide it into understandable parts. The purpose of any category and classification is to divide it from the sum of its parts in order to define it. Race is no different, except that is created out out faulty concepts like dark skin equals African descent.

  • @ManOfBamboo "Biracial/Multiracial" people are evidence of how faulty race can be because we physical features attributed to many "race".

  • @jigary I never said that race was not a tricky thing to physically decipher and validate, just that I personally do not think that it is biologically, physically, or scientifically accurate/logical to deem race non-existent, all because it can be used for division. I am not thinking of social constructs when I think of race, I am thinking of the things that are visually evident to me, like different environments being responsible for the DIFFERENT physical traits of different groups of people.

  • @jigary Not really. We acknowledge that certain groups of people have dominant features but that other races can possess those same features too (i.e. black Africans often having curly hair/pointed noses (East African groups in particular)).

  • @everagej Please read both of my comments and it will shed light on my beliefs around the term "Black". "Black is Black" is derived from the same archaic notions that developed the Racial Integrity Act and the "One drop of blood rule". It is ignorance to ignore or deny other parts of your heritage just because it's painful or unpopular. While we all have the right to limit our identities to complexion and recent history, I think we do ourselves a disservice in the process.

  • @jigary Thank You!!!

  • @bajanboy883 I think that there is SOME truth to the existence of race, race is not an ENTIRELY man-made social construct, there ARE "groups" of people with similar physical features (bones, facial features, skin etc.) that are distinct from other groups of people (i.e. East Asians, Northern Europeans, and West Africans), but yeah, everybody should treat each other in a civilised, decent, and humane way.

  • I proud to be a coco brown dark skin women. I never had a problem with my skin tone even when some people do which is very sad. people are people no matter what their skin tone is. and the color of your skin doesnt make u beautiful, you as a person is what does. plus beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I think everyone is beautiful since we all are made in the image of God.

  • The sad thing is it was other color struck "black Americans" that made them feel this way. As an African it makes me laugh looking at Black Americans. To me they're White people with Black skin. So ignorant and stupid. Most will never get over slavery.

  • wow my siblings are mostly girls and the older ones were very light skin (after my mom) and boy did they think they were better and still do its the barely unspoken but it shows true in their attitude! and truth is all of us have good looks from our mom.... but the we so called look different!

  • I'm white, in elementary school I had a crush on the darkest girl in my class, I remember specifically thinking her skin was beautiful.. I also remember ugly lightskinned black girls picking on pretty dark ones.. shit was ridiculous, shit continues to be ridiculous..

  • But why are we africans and african descendent call ourselves "black people"? Are we really black or white people said so? Those girls on the video to me they look different shades of brown....Are we really black as we call ourselves? Look at your skin closely and tell me.

  • Im a darkskin beauty and I never felt the need to be lighter. So you and you luv the skin god gave you.

  • when i got to middle school, i started to realize skin color and the different black skin colors because the black kids would say mean things about me being dark but in k-5 it was not a problem, most of the kids in my elementary were white, hispanic it didnt matter to them, best friend was white. it was not only untill i came to a school were it was all black that my skin color was made fun of

  • I have dark skin and i love it!!! when i was younger my mom bought me a white barbie doll and i got so angry! her skin disgusted me for some reason and i hated her, i threw her somewhere and never saw her again and then i told my mom never to buy me a white doll again i want a black one. for some reason it disgusted me that her skin was white. but then when i got to 8-9 i started to like white dolls and other dolls, it didnt matter anymore.

  • To all the ppl saying they shuda did this or that this is a PREVIEW not the whole thing wait till you see the documentary then make your criticisms

  • Thank you for sharing!

  • So when is this coming to michigan again?

  • where can i see the whole thing?

  • Black is beautiful.

  • @vyry108 any skincolour is beautiful

  • at 4:53 i thought that was a fem boy but that was a female

  • this makes me sad.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Finally the film is here but daaaaaang its going to be showing at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. I can't stand the Fox Theatre...c'mon promoters...whats wrong with the Porter Sandford Arts Center right in the Dec where our dollars can be recycled. The Fox theatre is run by bigots so me and my friends will no be spending any more money with there. So we're gonna wait until they show it at another place.

  • This is so incredibly sad, particularly when it comes from the parents. My mother was light and my father dark. So, in a family of 4 girls, we were 2 light ones and 2 dark ones. For the life of me, I cannot remember a time when my parents or my sisters paid ANY attention to that. I'm a proud, confident and eager to tan dark girl. Teach your children to love themselves because no matter how the world sees them, your word will heal or hurt them the most.

  • Wheelsgr, its called balance. Light girls envy brown skinned girls, soaking themselves in sun tan lotion, dark stockings, plump their lips, booty pads .Melanin slows the aging process. Take care of you physical and mental health, the aging process doesn't begin until age 60. Anyway "Beauty is Only Skin Deep, yeah yeah yeah". By the way I would interview healthy people to determine if their healthy lifestyle contributes to their well being. And I would include an expert on Melanin.

  • But at the same time this should include how dark skin is great and beautiful and is praised in many various ways. ... And might i add that this can be overlooked so much when its serious issue

  • I,m glad they shed some light on this issue because it is true ....

  • Dark Girls movie is misleading! /watch?v=PnKJKjuU9uc

  • The Light skin woman at 8:00 barley made it. Lol

  • THIS MOVIE IS BULLSHIT!!! A BIG FUCK YOU TO THE WRITER!!!! FAGGOT!!! Not every female who is chocolate and dark chocolate feels sorry for themselves! The 5 year old being asked the questions was SHIT! Why didnt a lot of kids get asked the same question? There are black militants families with kids who would have said light is "bad" and "dark" is good! Where are the confident dark women and the dark man who got treated bad along with lightskinned people who were treated bad?

  • @DaSouth321 Peace I understand your frustration however buts lets be honest there are WAAAAYYYY more Black people with the self hatred issues that White supremacy has imposed upon us. This needed to be made and seen.

  • @ramber100 Can't blame white supremacy if your black ass allow it to be imposed and accepted! The maker of this movie is a FAGGOT being paid off to make money from black people self victimizing themselves! Not all darkskinned people cry their eyes out for being dark! Many have confidence in themselves and it is not presented in this movie! Did this color purple syndrome faggot who made this movie go to darkskinned women with model looks and asked these questions? NO!

  • @DaSouth321 I know what your saying they shouldve had some confident sistas However White supremacy took over the world with the gun. Those who didnt fall victim to some degree Died early (Courageously I will add so dont get me wrong). Thats why slavery worked and along with that came oppression mental physical through television and ridicule. Self hatred also takes away compassion for are people who express their pain no offense. Remember a victim is a victim they dont need to be victimized.

  • @ramber100 This BS only fuels the fire to white supremacy while the faggot producers make a profit! The clips are for the sole purpose of victimzation propaganda for a buck! There should have been a blend of confidence and the ones feeling sorry for themselves! Why not show many African countries where many of them love their dark skin even though they have self hating issues as well although not as bad as in American history! This movie dont need to make a damn dime!

  • @DaSouth321 I understand your point and your right about the confident sistas they Aren't showing, and that is some B.S. Still somebody had to do something like this but that doesn't mean it cant be done again the RIGHT way. Peace Black Man

  • @DaSouth321 these folks were taught by other black people that they were inferior for having "darker" skin. how does pointing that out make the filmmaker(s) "faggot"? this is a trailer, did you see the finished film? how do you know it's wrong about these individuals?

  • @XSC3 Because faggots are the ones attacking women in demaning ways like this! Dark BOYS had it hard too! Plus all the women on here are downtrodden as though all women of chocolate skin acts this way! Where are the ones saying "I felt this way for a while but I gained confidence" and "I was always taught to love my skin!" because they are out there!

  • @DaSouth321 you still haven't explained how that makes them gay (or are you using the word "Faggot" in some other way?). I don't understand you. if they made a movie about black men's self esteem being hurt by colorism, would you say it was made by "dykes"?

  • That ugly faggot who was an undercover at 4:43! "Darkskinned women look funny next to him?" White women should look funny next to this barely visible in color sambo! Faggot piece of shit! I bet he beat up lightskinned girls cause he mad he cant be one too! Then for the women in the clip saying they cant get dates, lets be real they were no Naomi Campbell or Miss Universe 2011!

  • Those black bastards could have told that child to say that shit! Then where are the dark skinned women with CONFIDENCE because they exist! This is downtrodden bullshit! Then why not show the lightskinned girls that treated like shit because of their color especially the whiteskinned girls!

  • This is so powerful. I've been thinking about this for a long time due to the conversations I've had with my friends. Hopefully this film enables the conversation to continue and minds to be opened. All these women are lovely in their uniqueness. Thank God for variety!

  • 1. It's really sad that the little girl found the black child ugly.

    2. I can't believe that woman's mom said all those wonderful things about her and then said: imagine if she was lighter! Seriously?!

    3. Okay and the man that said: dark skin women look funny beside him? It's one thing to say maybe their not your type, but he didn't have to say all that! Maybe dark skin girls don't want you beside them!

  • 4:43 - "A dark girl looks funny beside me." Ummmm, you dark as hell, bruh. You'd look funny no matter WHAT color you were. Goofy-lookin' ass..
