  • Hi, love watching your tuts. I have a problem rendering an animation " head morphs" while using displacement maps. Base head has turbosmooth and a displacemant map which renders still perfect. Also second head "morph" has turbosmooth and displacement map applied. When scrubbing timeline animation works perfect. When render animation ... no morph occurs! If i take off the displacement maps animation renders perfect. My question is how do I render a head morph while using the displacement maps ?

  • great work thanks

  • How do you deal with the teeth, tongue and mouth interior models. They are separate and I tried by attaching all meshes together. Assuming the verts all remain the same after importing the morph mesh (attaching all those pieces) the mouth portion of the mesh blew up. It's a pain in the toosh to try to animate or morph the mouth congruently... I might as well make my own morph targets from scratch!

  • thanks alot helpful tutorials .

  • Glad I could help!

  • im doing this in college at the moment :) so lets just say i will be far ahead

    Thanks for all these tuts

  • Glad I could help out, friend!

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Very instructive.

  • have u herd of the program MOdo? Luxology Modo, well i got that program and also got maya for mac and i tried to download it but it gots exe files so i can open them on mac, but makes no sense cus it says its for mac, and i tried to install them on my brothers windows laptop and it says it cant cus wrong operation system, thats wierd. i guess i gots to get it again make suere they dont got no exe files.

i can also get 3ds max. whats the latest version?

  • If you are interested in purchasing MAX, the latest version is 2009, I believe.

    Yes, I've heard of Modo.

  • 2010 is out

  • how you add the head material?

  • If it is indeed like MAX then all you need to do is drag and drop the image into the material editor slot.

Word of caution though, the point of 3d applications is the create 3d assets.. a difference in interface can mean a great deal, despite the applications doing the same thing.. they are not doing it in the same way... therefore, I suggest focusing primarily on your application rather than inquiring about a different one's work flow.

  • gots cha, have u made any games with 3ds max?

how long u been messin with 3ds max?

  • I'm not sure what you mean by messing. I take visual arts very seriously, as such, I cannot trivialize the arts in such a manner as to consider it a hobby. It's more of an investment in my own film production pipeline.

To answer the question, around five years or so. Zbrush, for around two years, MAYA for around four years.

  • i use zbrush and cinema 4d just got them like 2 days ago, is it the same process?

    keep them videos comin

  • Greetings, friend!

The Zbrush aspect of the topic would likely be the same, however, I do not use C4D; primarily MAX and sometimes Maya.. but not as often.. I digress.. the point is, I don't know, lol.

I'm sorry I could not be of much use concerning answering the question, but I shall indeed keep the tutorials coming, lol.

  • yea C4d is just like 3ds max i seen ur videos , it just gots a different interface but not by much, and same things just located in different places.

what i want to know is how to rig, so like u did in this video, but i didn't get how u tall them heads in .. thats what i want to know how to do and, when you bring the face in so it haves color like u did it how u do thats?

    well get at me

    i would appreciate it
