It seems it won't let me post it here, but go to the Wikipedia Article for "Haplogroup X (mtDNA)"'. This is mitochondrial DNA (passed from mother to child). Haplogroup X has been found in the Natives of North-East North America in high concentration.
Click on the image in the Wikipedia article and look for the dark colored spots you will see the "dense" spots where Haplogroup X shows up. All of this is VERY possible, if you believe DNA at all.
If my ancestors (Mi'kmaq) came from the atlantic we would had been light skinned...but we're not we came from the southwest through the land bridge...we call ourselves Lnu and there's similarities going throughout the west with that name all the way to Japan and Russia which those japanese nomads call themselves Ainu.
What a dumb video, The man is using Vine Delorias words in a bad way to spread his "mormon" ideas. In fact Vine wouldnt support MORMON ideas nor any sort of COLONIAL religions IMPOSED on INDIGENOUS. He's going after Indigenous Peoples stories?! haha.. WTF... We can tell our own stories. His re-hashing of our stories will be distorted through his Mormon based belief systems.. FUck that.. Our beliefs dont support your FUCKING RELIGION!
@dorkatron Everyone previously thought that sense there is no DNA evidence that supports Hebrews in America so its impossible 4 the BofM to be true, but this vid is only proves that wrong. That it is a possibility. There is also research being done in mesoamerica. And you have no idea what our religion believes.
@dorkatron He's trying to make the connection that traditional Native American beliefs aren't consistent with American History textbooks, and neither does Mormonism-"they came from the East" is a parallel that exists within the history of both groups.
depends on how reliable DNA can be over 1000 years. it may or may not be definitive. we have never used it to challenge our claim because it is unreliable.
So how is DNA from a group of 30-50 people who mix with a civilization of Mayan folks going to survive? Those folks mixed genes for 900 years and those who were Nephites were all killed off leaving 1/2 of that gene pool who would then be found in North America as well. Then they mixed with people who crossed over from Russia. After mixing with so many others, how long would it take for DNA to be so degraded that it wouldn't be recognizable. Why would this be a deciding factor for you?
DNA is not a deciding factor for me. It is a corroborating factor. It adds support to the other concerns regarding language, archaeology, culture, beliefs, history and so on.
The first question about how long it would take shows what you don't know about the topic. These genes and mitochondrial DNA don't get "watered down". They exist or not.
The LDS church teaches that the Lamanites are the originators of the Indians etc. and not mixed with them.

This is all very interesting, but we're still talking about Natives right?
I agree with the foul mouthed YouTuber 'dorkatron'; What has this to do with Mormons??
I'm hunting high and low for something approaching meaty evidence for their Book of Mormon.
So far, it's been salads all the way.

Isolation is no "Theory", ...it is in fact, deliberate disinformation.

I would sure love to see a specific reference for that without buying the DVD

If they came, why doesn't the DNA support your thesis?

And you are after me for not writing in clear English!
Mayan ruins shows how this guy is off. The beliefs of the people, dates they were there and the languages spoken don't match what you expect.

What are you talking about? Thats a youtube link above.

They tested DNA in live people to come up with this information. My DNA is stable. If you are 1000 years old, yours might be in a different state.
