  • Magnificent:)

  • what wonderful singing!

  • Wow, why are people arguing about what "race" God has. That is just an absurd thing to argue about.

  • Hahaha that is hilarious. I need to get this movie

  • hole up, did he say "fish fry?".....{replayin clip}....omg, he did say fish fry! not only dat he said let it proceed, indicating it was interupted...Ok Hollywood's view on Heaven back in the mid 1930s...rotflmbo

  • I did like the movie though. I thought it was very beautiful, the choir especially. I love this kind of music. :)

  • People who try to give God a human skin color are not only blasphemers, but also prideful monsters of iniquity.

Instead of worshiping the Lord, you instead worship your skin color and lift yourselves up in pride and arrogance.

None of you are true Christians. Everyone in this debate is a whitewashed wall.

  • @tripletrules

True, true...and besides, God is a Spirit

  • Listen to yourselves!! One of you says God has black skin. One of you says He has white skin.

Fine. Let's say He has black skin.

Guess what? Non-Christian black people still go to Hell without Jesus, just like everybody else.

But yeah, keep spending your time arguing about this. I'm sure it's a much better way to spend your time than, perhaps, fulfilling the Great Commission! Hahaha why bother with that LOL!

  • This us EXACTLY what Satan, our ancient enemy, wants us Christians to be doing!! Arguing with each other about stupid, insignificant meaningless opinions that have no value for our edification, and ONLY serve to further divide the already splintered Body of Christ!

You fools! Don't you realize that God shows no favoritism? (Romans 2:11)

  • To the people arguing about God's race: DO YOU THINK GOD IS A MAN, THAT HE SHOULD POSSESS SKIN AND A RACE? GOD IS A SPIRITUAL BEING. HE HAS NO HUMAN RACE. GOD IS NOT A MAN! Yes, Jesus temporarily became manifest as a man, but do you think He is still a human being? NO! HE'S SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER! WHY MUST YOU BICKER ABOUT SUCH STUPID ANTI-CHRISTIAN MATTERS AS THE COLOR OF GOD'S SKIN? ARE YOU BLIND?

  • beautiful

  • I love this movie, oh why cant the world believe the truth

  • Yes, Lawd, I love this movie. LOL. There is so much truth in this movie. It is one to be studied.

  • this a historic part of american history.. even me as a non american finds it magnificent....

  • Maybe the best policy when thinking about God is to close your eyes and talk with God about more important things.

  • Y'all don't get it. It's not about God being black or white or the color of the angels or of the people in the Bible period. We'll only know the true answer to that when we get to Heaven...or Hell. Anyway, this is about Heaven from the point of view of Southern Black folk circa 1936. That's why everyone in the movie is black, because that's how they see it.

  • @drexalexander well let's not get it all twisted. The actors in the movie just happen to be black and this was not particularly the Black point of view especially for educated people. But please remember that there are a lot of racist overtones in this movie...which I would expect from a team of white (probably Jewish) film executives in the 1930's. I like watching the movie mostly because of the Hall Johnson Choir & their spirituals. That sound is really gone forever I guess.

  • says who?

  • well then, all hail Cthulhu!!!

  • Herbert Dennard, maybe you can delete the ridiculous posts by 200MillionAngels and the hateful one by MegaSuperUberMe. They don't belong with such precious video clip as the one you have posted. (Thanks again, btw.)

  • Can you show exactly where in the bible that it say God is black, please?

  • exactly that. it does say there were PEOPLE of the bible being black, but i see no evidence of the color of God's being. black and white does not matter at all in heaven anyway, i'm more than sure of that. look past the color, look for the relationship with christ. i'm sure if someone saved your life, color would make no difference to any of us....

  • @200MillionAngels: Thank you cocobeanz14. Exactly that! :) Amen! God is spirit. He is not color. He created us (all) in His image meaning like Him, we have thought and reason, love and compassion. God's image is what's on the inside of us, not this temporary 'package' He put us in. Our relationship with Jesus reflects our relationship with each other no matter what color we are. :)

  • @cocobeanz14 just read Revelation 1:13-16 "eyes of fire, wooly hair? I don't know too many white people with wooly hair. Do you remember when Mary & Joseph took Jesus to hideout in Egypt-what color are people in Egypt? A white baby in a land of darkly complexioned people. Ok maybe Jesus wasn't of African descent-but He atleast has to be Middle Eastern according to the place where He was born. A non-white Jesus would destroy the global system of white supremacy that oppreses people of color

  • @blackmaestro "i dont know too many white people with wooly hair". the words TOO MANY imply that there ARE some with that trait. meaning there's no way to tell. you notice that they TOOK jesus to egypt. it did not say he was born there. niether does it matter to waste either of our time debating on the ethnicity or color skin of our savior. his blood was red and that should be enough. lets use our time leading others to Christ.

  • what amazing singing!

  • This is the entrance scene for "De Lawd" in "Green Pastures". Rex Ingram is simply marvelous as is the Hall-Johnson choir. This is a piece of history. Beautiful in every way.

  • Awesome.

  • "Let the FISH fry proCEED"! :)

    Love it.

EIther you get it or you don't

  • This really is a fantastic movie, while it is great that this whole movie is on You Tube, it is sad that that comments have been disabled. So I just came to say thanks for all the posts.

    Let de fish fry proceed.

  • Beautiful. A film 40 years before its time.

  • love this scene. i first saw this a few days ago and ever since ive been obsessed with this film. love it.

  • Rex Ingram showed a remarkable quiet dignity to this role. The man was a genius!

  • this is my ALL TIME favorite movie!!

  • Beautiful-5***** and thanks for sharing ahshar2

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. "Let the fish fry proceed" indeed. And Lord, please save me a place there. Will I bow mighty low? "Certainly, Lord".

  • This is as close as you can get to Heaven when on earth.
