The squiggily lines are slides and the white means hammer on and pull offs although you are allowed to slide for those aswell at your own risk lol. Pulling strings count as a mistake. Pro guitar in songs has its diffculty shown by the people who put the notes there so if you want to start out easy on expert mode you can see the difficulty just like any other instrument in the game. Don't be afraid to buy pro guitar it's worth it.
@procrastinator300 Not the solo, But some of the parts during verses involve an occasional harmonic on the 7th fret of the g string. And their may be one or two pinch harmonics during the solo. And also the solo has a lot of bends, you can do that in this game.
@procrastinator300 Sorry typo on my end, I meant to say Can't. There are no bends in the game. But a pinch harmonic is slang for an Artificial Harmonic, and that is just done when you pick a note, holding the pick with your thumb hanging overt the edge, it makes contact with the string after the pick, and makes a squealing noise.
@michaelre00 for a beginner, yes. You can't learn certain important parts of guitar playing such as harmonics(the squealing sound you hear in some songs)
i wanna see how those RB experts who FCed "Constant Motion" on guitars play this new RB or better yet, have "Constant Motion" here on RB3.. damn, the notes on that song is such a killer.
So, does the game support bends? I realize that the mustang controller lacks real strings that continue up through the frets, but they're releasing a squier strat to work with the game.
question, Is it possible to play notes in a different place and will the controller still receive the note like on a real guitar (like if you are used to playing it on higher up strings where it may be higher but is still the same note),or does it just count as a missed note?
Just picked up the Pro Guitar and yes it's very hard to learn. I've been playing guitar for 12 years and went to college for music but this is a lot harder. Agree that it's more difficult to read tab vertically and hard to tell where your fingers are at on the pro guitar. But it's a lot of fun, especially with friends.
@GMaddin88 Unless you're from Mars, yes, it is hard. Even someone who has played real guitar for 20 years will likely flail about at first like a newborn calf trying to walk. For me, trying to read guitar tabs vertically (I'm used to seeing them horizontally) was and still is a huge adjustment.
@GMaddin88 Very true, i was at my friend's house when he got the fucking mustang (I HATE that thing...) and i picked it up and i played some of the simple songs with five stars sightread, and he was like "Dude, how the hell can you do that?!" and i already knew the songs so that kinda helped lol.
i belive you are the first person except me to even try this with the pro guitar i almost done all of the solo but i missed like 9 notes so i was devostated haha
@A7XFAN012K8 Good question, I never really thought about that. As far as I know, Pro guitar doesn't have a special indicator for HO/POs. In this chart, I alt-pick the entirety of GTR LEAD 1 and GTR SOLO with the exception of 1:04 to 1:07 which (for me) can't be played without a few HOPOs in there.
@RocketCityRocker The notes with sort of 'white shadows' just behind their borders are HO/PO's. I haven't had any trouble distinguishing them whilst playing but if you're not looking for it I could see it being easy enough to miss. Also HO/PO's are exceptionally rare until expert mode, and even then they are MUCH more sparingly used than 5 button haha.
@RocketCityRocker I know this is OLD, but there is an indicator. If you look at notes there are notes like this: ___; and notes like this: |____|. |____| notes are hammers ons.
Lucky for me, I prefer sight reading guitar tablature, and that's how I learn most of my songs is just reading it and going with it, so I think I could do this, but yeah the solo is tabbed all wrong at parts, they needed to give the mustang (ideally) 24 frets and seven strings to do everything the game asks.
@meriadoclink You can't, unfortunately. The charts switch you between playing rhythm and lead parts to add some variety I guess. I wish they'd add rhythm guitar, since I usually play the rhythm parts over guitar solos when I play along with songs in real life.
@sk8el3mentfreak I went after the fact and played most of this on my real guitar and it's accurate except for the section labelled Guitar Solo. It's flat out wrong because the solo goes up to the 18th fret and the Mustang only has 17, so they had to transpose it down.
@RocketCityRocker I think it's transposed only if playing with a mustang. The Squier has 22 frets, and as far as I remember if you use the Squier the game will tell you to play those high notes right :)
at least I'm glad I could read them by e-mail... but either way
I think you just take out one of those runs and focus on that specific part, at 50~70% speed, then when you have them memorized you stop reading the numbers and go for the time. Like... you see a blue column, you know it's a certain scale~
this way you'll be able to focus on playing the notes, and not about what's going on the screen xD
@Dan1loBr@Dan1loBr That will work; I just need more practice with it. I probably spent the most time practicing Gtr Lead 1, which happens to be the part I performed the worst on in the video.
I'm finding it's helpful for these fast solos to write them down on a napkin and then practice on a real guitar to the point that I have it memorized, because 70% speed isn't slow enough. Many of my "triumphs" in these videos I'm not even looking at the screen. :)
@RocketCityRocker yeah, and this is really odd about playing rockband... you'll get to a point of actually ~learning~ to play the songs, rather then going with your instincts(like most of people do when they play expert guitar)
@Dan1loBr Yeah. I am one of those people who could sight-read and 5-star probably 95% of the entire non-Pro catalog on expert.
With Pro mode, and even several years of real guitar exp, I doubt I could even *pass* any of the on-disc songs on sight read on Expert. Even songs that I've played before, every single RB3 chart is slightly different from how I learned to play it.
