  • a 3 foot wave is big? ive surfed it at like 5 foot (about 4 meters) and the boat was out there then catching waves. This video is a small day.

  • clubbie scum

  • Yes and did a big reo in the shory.....

  • hahahaaha that song fits so good

  • By the way did they hold that wave all the way to the beach?

  • Yep, all the way. I even have the one where they row back out. Will post it some day.

  • fantastic, just getting back into rowing boats after a 20 year break

  • Actually wait a minute are we talking about the english Torquay, or the australian Torquay?

  • The Australian one! lol

I havent been to the English Torquay so I cant comment on the surf there, but I would be pretty sure that you wouldnt find a surf boat surfing the waves there. Mind you there are more and more surf clubs putting surf boats on the water these days.

  • ahh anyone remeber when there was ahuge storm and chunks of the wall were taken out by the waves, and cars were washed onto the Green? About 2 years ago I think

  • Torquay point cant get much better than that. Go to bells the same day and it would propably be 6-10 feet perfection.

  • Really?!?! Read the post above. Yes, Bells will give you a great wave as well. The issue is taking the wave in a surf boat. Nothing wrong with the wave, it is the shallow reef in the bowl that is the problem.

  • true. Take a surf boat at bells and you wont come back with a boat. Torquay point is a great wave for for learning and longboarding espicialy and also taking a fun ride with a surf boat.

  • I remember back in the 70's hte Jan Juc crew were sitting off Bells Beach watching the Easter Surfing Titles and had no option to take a large wave in. There was no way they could row back out and had to get a bunch of surfies to carry the boat up the steps. From memory Tony James was sweeping.

  • lol ya ive surfed waves way bigger than that at torquay point

  • And we have been on a wave at Torquay Point much bigger than this as well. Just this time we happened to have a video camera and someone to film it for us.

Swell looking good for this weekend (23/9/06) so maybe we can get some video of a bogger wave and some nice floaters and reos.

  • oh ok i understand

  • Torquay point gets way bigger than that....

    That aint no Big Wednesday

  • You are right Lerka, it does get bigger, but hard to arrange for 4 rowers a sweep and a surf boat on short notice to crack waves when it IS bigger!
