I just adore this interview. Thank you so much everyone involved in The Clash, and especially you Joe, changed my life for the better. Great person who really gave his all in life, a personal hero to me.
I fuckin love the Clash, but I hate the Pistols. They distorted themselves so much with the punk image, they weren't making music. Sure, they were part of the trend, but they were like the Monkies or Linkin Park. They were hired to and payed to be in a Band created by the company. Sorry friends, that's not punk. It's control. And that's why the Ramones resented them. Except Dee Dee.
@Evan42881 part of the trend? The kicked off the whole trend. If it weren't for the pistols we wouldn't have The Clash. FACT. I think of both bands in the same way, and you're post is just wrong
@rigs345 True, they had a lot to do with the making the scene popular. But when I see the Clash, I see them talking about important issues, and talking about authority. I see Sex Pistols, and I see them just talking about chaos. I dismiss any band that was formed together because of a record company. ESPECIALLY a punk rock band. It's hypocritical and sad.
@Evan42881 they weren't formed by a record company. What are you talking about? Get your facts right. Joe was a public school boy, do you have a problem with what he says? And The Pistols don't sing about chaos, if anything they are a band that longs for britain to rise up and be the best it can be.
I can't express how amazing it is to hear him talk. As a frustrated and broke "starving artist" trying to make it in a world where no one gives a fuck about me or my music, this gives me hope.
the control room. my rule would be no liquids or food in the control room. no ciggys even because tobbacco smoke residue could affect electrical components over time. and that gear is expensive beyond belief!
