  • ... the locking mechanism so that if you need a "Live" or locked together drive system where if 1 wheel spins but not the other, it can drive both at the same time, kind of like when you go into 4WD. I'll see when I can find time to get a video together when I'm not working.

  • I have successfully built a Rear Wheel Drive locking differential using the basic VEX starter kit gears, 1 servo, and 3-wire motor, and the LEGO Mindstorms worm gear and differential. I was surprised to find out the Mindstorms gears worked, they fit snug to the vex axles with no slip. It still needs a enclosure made for it to work stand-alone with the worm gear, so for the moment I'm using standard gears to get decent speed from the motor to the differential.   • How did this work out for you guys? Did it break often or was it reliable?

  • unfortunately we never took it to competition because our schedules conflicted. But, I can tell you that in the time we tested it we never had a problem.
