I went to " Museo de bellas artes de caracas"And here in my country we have one of that pictures the name is " nocturnal company" is the man wwho plays viola with a woman and two men i thougth on this video and i was so exited.
Why doesnt man appreciate these wonders anymore? Maybe its the degenerate state that man has further lapsed into that destroys not only his moral being, but also their sense of a divine hand in this masterpiece.
It's like General George Patton said. "The world grew up." People no longer delight in works of art, generally only in things that they can make money with or control others with.
It is a masterpiece indeed, the way he used basso ostinato, the dissonance, the way he made the men voices murmur in the background while soprano outpour her anguish... Yes.
to me this is the power of the barroco style. noone as monteverdi catch the atmosphere of caravaggio. the tenebrism the lisgth and darkness but not that darkness who is part of the badness. a darknes who just love and suport be at the back of the ligth.

Very nicely done. I was happy to hear the bass voice. It was strong and very clear.
Wonderful performance. Bravo!

This interpretation is heartbreakingly beautiful!!!
Besides Viveca Axcell sings it with a correct Baroque technique... I am pleased!

This is the best one. This piece either makes one cry (with a good interpretation) or is just mildly annoying (with a bad interpretation).

can anyone translate the lyrics into modern italian, english, spanish, french, german?
MartirioEterno 3 years ago
Poverina, ah piu' no, no, tanto gelo soffrire non puo'
giusquiamo 3 years ago 5
no, no, che non mi dara' piu' dolore.
giusquiamo 3 years ago 5
cosi', tra pianti pieni di sdegno, spargeva la sua voce al cielo;
