  • NIN's instrumentals are groundbreaking. This is just more truth to the Book of Trent.

  • this is a devastating one two punch and thanks for posting but can someone with the means please put up a higher rez version...

  • this is nincredible! see what i did there :)

  • 240p? NOPE

  • @xminmatenx When we want the opinion of some faggot scrillex fan with a sock fetish we'll let you know. Eat shit.

  • I didn't hear All That Could Have Been.

  • @pentalway That's the name of the DVD this is from.

  • @pentalway it's from the and all that could have been dvd.

  • This video makes me sad as a musician/artist that Trent is sober. The Fragile is easily the best concept album of this generation.

  • @williamcardno ..thats a pretty selfish ignorant thing to say... besides the non-since stop touring he did after getting sober made up for thealbums not being quite as good.. and Ghosts is a fucking masterpiece

  • @bosshallucy selfish, definitely. ignorant how, though?

  • @williamcardno also he drew these concepts from his journal. Which he hasn't done since. Mostly because he wanted to get away from it. I love the other album, and his ability to progress. Trying new things scare musicians that made them famous because they'll lose fans. Yet he did and I still love his music

  • I Ninjoyed It!!!!!!

  • cannot stop listening to it...i am addicted the intro and the first 7mins....

  • love it! love it!

  • La Mer is one of the best instrumentals by any band at any time period. Dope! The bass grove that Danny puts out is awesome. The Great Below....what can I say? I think the only sadder song that I've ever heard in my life is another NIN song.

  • @jcowell1977

You said it. La Mer is an incredible instrumental and this version is the best one I have heard. The only other instrumental that may be just as good as La Mer is Just Like You Imagined, another track from the fragile.

  • # talking to myself at the station, pictures in my head of the final destinat...# oh shit wrong song.

  • this is off the dvd aint it?

  • @04ra Yes.

  • The only full version of La Mer from AATCHB on youtube...and that's the best version of La Mer NIN has ever played. I'm so glad I saw it live on this tour. I only wish the sound on this were higher quality...sounds like it was sampled at a lower rate. I appreciate the post though.

  • LOL @ "Ninjoy" hahaha!

  • love trent.... hes my fav along with maynard from tool, two of the best bands.... dieing to see NIN live tho

  • @antisanity1 i KNEW i wasn't the only one =) !!

  • @antisanity1 exactly the same 4 me here, in ARgentina. Just love Trent and Maynard. Such inspiring artists!

  • HANDS DOWN, my favorite trent reznor and nails song/performance. the ambient guitar note played through most of this is even better than the studio recording. (if u can imagine.) it reminds me of the sound that whales make. which in this particular case, is beautiful.

  • @opethinchains

I agree, it's really hard to pick favorites with NIN but this song is amazing. This live version is much better than the studio recording - i love the ambient guitar in this one along with the picked guitar in the beginning. The overall sound is just incredible.

  • nin forever

  • this is my absolute favourite

  • "Ocean pulls me close

    And whispers in my ear

    The destiny I've chose

    All becoming clear

    The currents have their say

    The time is drawing near

    Washes me away

    Makes me disappear"

  • 8:38 just genius, everything about it

    drums, guitar, bass, vocals, etc

  • swallowed by "La Mer"...

  • A shame the audio quality isn't better. Best song of the whole concert.

  • I wish I still had this double dvd, I only have the case now :(

  • NIИ for da WIИ!

  • nin is the greatest band ever...... i have seen just about everybody, kiss back in 78, iron maiden about 9 or 10 times, dio, ozzy, megadeth, rush, motley crue, too many to list and no one comes close.........the only band thats close is tool..... the concert scene seems so empty without NIN...... please tour again

  • ja pierdole to jest zakurwiste ja pierdole no kurwa kurwa mać !!!!

  • NIN RULES THE WHOLE MUSIC INDUSTRY FUCK GAGA AND ALL THAT SHIT!!

  • Montréal in 2000 fucking good ''souvenir'' of this tour !

  • Trent's music did not suffer at all in any way shape or form as a result of recovering from drugs, and I don't know how anyone could possibly believe that, when he is one of the few musicians with what I would call a near flawless discography.

On top of that, I'd like to say that the album With Teeth is probably a good example of some of the BEST work Nin has done; that album is fucking packed with what may as well be one hit song after another. Songs like "Only".....

  • @sbcam123 ...."Everyday is Exactly the Same", and "The Hands that Feeds" are all songs that well characterize and capture the essense of NIN very well; I would very strongly diagree that his worked has suffered at all from lack of drugs.

Instead I'd suggest he simply evolved as a musician, his style has changed over the years, but it's quality has not diminished.

  • @sbcam123 You sound like a teethtard lol

  • @nightmissle Hardly, I consider the Fragile to be his best album...doesn't mean I can't appreciate all his work just as much. With Teeth is a pretty good fucking album though.

  • NINJOY?? REALLY??

  • good live artist, and even better studio.. you cant say that much.. prince is fucking a hardass too but im not that into him.. nin is good.. non style the same really but you can tell his production

  • these songs are amazing... when I die, these songs will sound in my funeral, but I hope that will be very far in time jeje

  • this album and tour was his masterpiece. as good as it got for NIN. although i do love With Teeth, not too keen on anything after that.

  • it appears that three people have no feelings

  • the great below is the best and most beautiful song by nin

  • everyone was dancing when nin played this at soundwave XD

  • The Great Below is so powerful...Nin is really amazing in creating atmospheres, we can feel like we're in the sea, and it's also like a sea of sounds, we drown in it...!

  • These two songs is the greatest thing that ever happened.

  • @RiflemanIzzie Why would you ask?

  • @nemesiswontdie why would you respond?

  • @KornOil Why would I not respond on my own video?

  • @nemesiswontdie thats true stupid kornoil

  • @RiflemanIzzie NIN nine inch nails dummie!

  • @RiflemanIzzie cause its clever, dumb dumb.

  • @RiflemanIzzie LOL, that is a fantastic pun

  • It's sad to see him in so much pain... especially knowing what he revealed during the last concerts- he wrote this and La Mer while "on the ocean" where he planned to kill himself. In this video, he is truly a tortured artist.

  • here's the trick.. go to ripify [dot] com to download this song from utube.

  • la mer....

  • Nine Inch Nails are perfect.

  • This is the greatest concert I've ever seen on DVD, the effects, Trent's voice, the quality, the sound... Just perfect. I really admire Trent's skills and the perfectionism in everything he does.

  • Trent Reznor is a fucking GOD! That fucking simple, he can do anything and nobody complains and everyone is fucking happy...Trent Reznor FTW!

  • Every time I watch this I get tears in my eyes. The passion and emotion put into this is the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed. I'd give anything to go back in time for this stage of NIN.

  • No joy in here thats for sure

  • this makes me so nostalgic. I remember watching this when i was younger and now i want to go back to those days. The music itself is so peaceful and mellow

  • The special edition to AATCHB is awesome.

CD 2 is sad a hell but wicked none the less.

  • I am in love with ROBIN!!!

  • who is the guitarist finck?

  • One of the best live performances ever in my opinion, the perfect combination of a great band, a great song (especially The Great Below) with one of the best video artists ever, just love Bill Viola's work! Thanks for sharing!

  • This is my favorite version of The Great Below

  • What is that thing Robin is using on his guitar to make it feed back like it is during the last part of Le Mer?

  • its called an "Ebow". it uses magnetic magic to make the string sustain. You hold it towards the string and then press down on a fret, and it'll play that note forever (or as long as the batteriest last :P)

  • Nope this is And All That Could Have Been. There were 3 versions. DVD,CD and then Still.

  • Are you replying to me or someone else?

  • no, i was talking to satcolliz.

  • @reznar420 Ah ok my bad dude. It showed up under my comment so I wasnt sure if it was ment for me or not. Merry Christmas Reznar420.

  • who is the drummer?

  • Jerome Dillon (sorry if I spelled the last name wrong.)

  • thanks man

  • awesome fucking videos thios gives me goosebumps everytime i watch it

  • this is the best concert ever

  • how come La Mer isnt on the And All That Could Have Been, but its here?

  • It's only on the DVD. Same as Just Like You Imagined and Complications. I was watching AATCHB a few days ago and I also noticed that Gave Up and Closer on the DVD is longer than on the Audio CD.

  • Couldn't fit it in? The CD has only limited audio time

  • Well yeah I figured.

  • It's so strange to listen to songs like Burn, Starfuckers Inc, etc...and then listen to a song like La Mer and The Great Below on the total opposite side of the spectrum. Trent Reznor is such a talent, he makes magic.

  • I think these slow songs are the only thing that keeps people from passing out due to heat exhaustion in the pit. They are such a nice break after an hour of fighting for your life.

  • @14murh its almost like .... i want to kill you and everyone you know ... and once i have done that .... i would like to feel the sorrow and pain and hurt of what i just have done ....

    black and white

  • @14murh Burn Remix> Burn Original and Starfuckers <Any other NIN song

  • @14murh not to mention his note selection is very careful, and right on the dot everytime, there is never a note that does'nt belong in a NIN song garunteed

  • Makes that guitar just sing.... by far my favorite song ever, it gives me the chills

  • this and into the void have a catchy bass track

  • i have a martin backpacker like that one :)

  • every single time, i get chills at 1:25 or so when the drums drop in. such a cool swing to it. love the plunge in 'the great below' - great performance from robin - tones and phrases that could only have come from the great belew (adrian)

  • That beat is friggen sick! I can never ever get tired of it

  • Absolutely no one on earth can come close to trent's level of musical composition...no one...

  • Arguably the best version of this song, both visually and auditory.

    Trent is a genius.

  • CANNOT HEAR AT THE LIBRARY

  • Such a wonderful performance. It's cool to see this again. Now, instead of lighters, you see a sea of cell phones being held up.

  • Saw the first part of this live last night at their gig in manchester... I was in absolute shock and awe!

  • London last night was a mind blowing experience! Did they follow La Mer with The Fragile in Manchester also? It was amazing

  • They did do fragile... I cant remember if it followed directly! They did Gone still at manchester too, i was in heaven at that gig! Best and most beautiful night of my life!

  • No comment... let it flow...

  • Pure fucking genius.

  • the song got a whole new vibe when I heard what "la mer" means to trent reznor and how this song arose.

    ..very sad and haunting...

  • wut dus the song means to him actualy

  • If I remember right, the two songs were written to honor his feelings regarding the death of a family member that was very close to him.

  • his grandmother

  • He wrote it when he was by the ocean (big sur) He said that he was trying to kill him self, and this is the only song he wrote during this time..

  • I used to live near there and somedays I would drive down the coast and listen to the album this was on. The feeling unexplainable. Its isolated coastline very alone.

  • Simply stunning, gonna really miss the whole nin live experience..regardless of what trent does next, its gonna take something to top what he's achieved with the live performances over the years and with the tremendous visual elements thrown in its been truly magical.

  • yea its just la mer , yea i no its has that same bass beat as into the viod but its suppost to be a different song with a hole different view point

  • Haven't heard this in a while. Reznor is like a real life Neo opening your mind

  • NIN RULES

  • three of my favorites all in this one video...thanks so much for posting...I am jealous of those who were there!

  • my newborn son is named trenton because of this man

  • exactly! thats what i planned on doing myself.

  • lets hope he can bring half of the joy this man does to all of us.

  • TBH I don't like the name trent but I've concidered it before.. IF i should ever have littlens... Trenton sound's better imo or maybe it's because Trent's name alone shouldn't be mimicked ;)

  • veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy good ......

  • 7.01 in tears... 7.58 rolling down my cheeks. words cannot describe my adoration for this man and his music xx

  • LOVE TRENT

  • i just love the music and the lights and..everything!

  • LITS 2008 was ridiculous! I'm right there with you.

  • I just want NIN in Portugal again...i must see things like this!

  • Great! Love all Nails songs... I want NIN concert in Poland...;<

Is there hope for me, after all is said and done...

  • if i would have seen this live...i think I could have cried...so beautiful..

  • I did see this performance live, and it was awesome, the screens are so big, they're the only light in the venue. Mix in the fact this is my favorite song on the album and the best video used in the live performance.

And when the guy falling hits the water, you have no idea the video is upside down, it's a big surprise.

  • i just saw them live in austin tx this past week and I was so happy when they played la mer...was an incrediable show, been going to their shows since 97 and have never been dissapointed.

  • He's just an amazing person. He goes from a heroin addict, cleans himself up, and started writing music, which has evolved over the years. He has come to be more, than anybody ever expected. He's not just a song writer ,he's not just a musician, he's not just Trent Reznor... He's the man who turned nothing, into some of the most original, and beautiful music ever.

And for that, Trent, you have my absolute respect. /\/ | \/\

  • @CovenantFan good call, Trent is an Artist . im sure no matter what media he worked with it would be great

  • @CovenantFan I believe he wrote his best music when he was on his way out of the drugs and felt like shit though.. Just my opinion :P

  • @CovenantFan I personally think that without the heroine, he never would've made the music he does...The deep darkness an emission of sadness in his music are things that a lot of people may never experience.

  • @CovenantFan Unfortunately after he stopped taking drugs his music went downhill. You have to admit. Everything pre-Fragile were masterpieces, after Fragile he was clean and started clapping his hands together during his live shows like a monkey. Watch the DVD AATCB and then watch BYIT. Huge difference. I still have respect for him and am proud he was able to overcome additction, but his music suffered greatly from it.

  • @dj ok maybe a little it wasnt as masterpiece as always but i think he developed his music more and i respect you love his old kind of music i do too but hey we all change our music styles it's a process in life i know it sounds like im lecturing you but im not im just trying to prove something i say Trent has made his music more powerful from 2005 which makes him one of the best modern musicians from the late 80s to the current year of 2010

  • @dj

  • @CovenantFan I definately agree, a long time ago i sorta like nin because my brother listened to it, but i was a deathcore fan and i still am, but then i actually heard more of his songs, and i was completely blown away, ive been listening to NIN pretty much straight for over a year now, it never gets old, i now have every album, and i love his work. It truly is the best

  • @CovenantFan Trent Reznor was never a heroine addict. He did not start out as nothing. The day Trent breathed, his flame within began the process. We all have it in us. Some of us don't realize our potential - life is a bitch that way. Trent is a superbly disciplined, acutely instinctive artist. He is brilliant, I absolutely concur.

  • @morningglorify You apparently have never heard Hurt or the Perfect Drug lol. Trent was a Heroin addict in the early to mid 90's and then relapsed into addiction by toasting when the Fragile released and got back into cocaine and heroin until 03. He ODed on Heroin actually in London I believe in 02 but covered it up at the time. He doesn't really talk to much about his use of drugs but there are a few interviews on here where he does. I believe the Direct TV interview he does mention it.

  • @MTnormous I just crawled out of a rock. Thanks for the culture lesson.

  • When it all comes to an end, this is the music I will hold on to. Music is life.

  • After every song he thanked the audience...

Thank *you* Trent, for making beautiful, original sounding music for so many years. We <3 you

  • It's amazing what beauty can be portrayed at a rock concert.

Everything Trent touches is simply gorgeous.

  • mm.

i have "nothing can stop me now" in french from 'la mer' tattooed on my side :]

  • Agreed, second album to give me goosebumps, first is Pretty Hate Machine

  • Great, simply great

  • agreed

  • Thank you, very very much for posting this. It's incredibly beautiful.

    You've given my selfish mind that little boost it needed, to persuade me to just buy the DVD and sod the fact that my money should be being spent on other people. ^^;

  • lol, the irony of that is, Trent Reznor actually condones the piracy of his own music because he knows the record companies are ripping off the consumer.

  • Record company's also rip off the artist.

  • this is just gorgeous.

  • And when the day arrives

    I'll become the sky

    and I'll become the sea

And the sea will come to kiss me

    For I am going

    Home

    Nothing can stop me now

  • it's truly one of the most sincere compositions written, performed, and displayed i think of our generation. It is one of the songs that has helped define my life and thoughts. It encourages you and almost challenges you to feel according to whatever you can associate this sequence to. I am also very glad they used this from the dvd and didn't separate La Mer and the great Below from one another. They compliment one another so perfectly.

  • Beautiful.

Best La Mer I've ever seen.

    Really Beautiful!

  • Imagine, I just close my eyes and I see many

  • This is a song that just never. ever. ever. gets old. I love it just as much every time i hear it. i start getting goosebumps at 7:58.

  • That's when u get goosebumps!? i get goosebumps almost the whole time. right about at 2:40 it starts.

  • haha yeah, im just talking about in The Great Below. When it gets heavy-ish i start getting fucking chills man. It's great.

  • oh the fragility guys. charlie and the whale sounds, danny, and jerome, and robin (thank god he's back) :). love
