  • dude, the music is by Sir Hubert Parry, not Gustav holst. was what was written to set William blakes "jerusalem" to. And herree Quorthon sets his won words to it,. awesome.

  • I cry.

  • Quorthon heals. Fucking HAILS mann

  • Am i the only person who hear music from TES Morrowind at 1:47?

  • jupiter the bringer of jolity :)

  • Perfeito ...

  • erre a szép muzsikára szeretném szétvágni az összes ellenségem,

  • For when great clouds fill the air and the thunder rolls from o so far away up in the sky, then for sure you will know that I've reached the joyous halls up high... Shivers everytime I hear this song.

  • Gustav Holst - Jupiter, The Bringer Of Jollity

  • Epic Hymn!

  • Such a glorious sound

  • As a kid I dreamed there would be a song made out of this Jupiter's theme... and then Quorthon happened <3

  • "Hammerheart" is originally composed by English classical composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934). The piece is from his Planets Suite.

I heard it's version also on the end of INVICTUS film by Clint Eastwood.

  • I guess they played this song at Quorthon`s burial?

    Nevermind, it`simply perfect.

    Quorthon is a god!

  • Fuck! I cried...

  • just crying... this is awesome!

  • This should be the anthem of the united Scandinavia! Hail Quorthon!

  • @MiKhAiL0vIcH but than it shouldn't be in english but in icelandic *_*

  • @MiKhAiL0vIcH Should be the anthem of the whole universe

  • @MiKhAiL0vIcH why scandinavia? The composer was English (and German)

  • @SROCeallaigh Actually he was swedish and the song is about ancient Scandinavian folklore but who cares about the details, right?=P

  • @MiKhAiL0vIcH dude, as the video clearly states this piece was written by Holst, this is just Quorthon's (very good) take on it...

  • @MiKhAiL0vIcH Also, Scnadinavia's never been united, so it can't really have an anthem...

  • @SROCeallaigh Scandinavia's never been united!? Holy shit I did not know that!=P And so what if it was written by Gustav Holst it would still make a very suitable anthem for a united Scandinavia because of the lyrics, atleast in my opinion.

  • @MiKhAiL0vIcH well I am not too familiar with the original but I am pretty sure that Quorthorn wrote his own lyrics for the piece so guess you're write...I need to hear this album more but all of Nordland is worthy of being a Nordic 'national' anthem for sure...Quorthon to me is as important for Scandinavian culture and music as Wagner is for Germany's...

  • @SROCeallaigh Aqctaully music by Sir hubert parry, not Holst, and the HYmn jerusalem was what he wrote the music for (William Blakes words) quorthon has adapted this magnificently

  • @ronniesoak2003 It comes from Holst's Jupiter...I did not know that about Jerusalem, must be selected passages because I can't imagine Quorthon making clear biblical references in his songs...will have to compare the lyrics with those in ELP's Jerusalem

  • I think I just had a Bathorgasm! : D

  • o.O This sounds like the melody to God Save The Queen (UK's National anthem).

  • @TheStardogChamp Also Harvey Milk's The Anvil Will Fall, just because I heard that first.

  • this song is healing fuck yah man beautiful

  • This should be the national anthem for Sweden

  • Ahh, this is so beautiful.

  • JUST AWESOME! \M/

  • LoTR Vibes

  • You just don't see this kind of talent anymore. :/ RIP

  • Great adaptation of Holst's Jupiter.

  • I wish one day when i die this song will be played at my funeral

  • Quorthon ploughed on. he just kept it coming regardless of what other genres were happening. he just did his own thing. he was the greatest metal musician with a punk rock attitude but down to earth nature.he must have been a lovely bloke to just chat to.

  • QUORTHON master of musicians, SKÅL!!!!!

  • I want this at my funeral.

  • quorthon, too cool for school

  • The whole song's musical composition sounds very similar to minutes 3 to 5 of Gustav Holst's Jupiter The Bringer of Jollity.

  • @DarkTau

Damn, you're right dude - good find I must say ;)

  • @DarkTau Melody in taken from Holst Jupiter

  • @DarkTau Well the song is actually an omage to that piece.

  • ok i understand the folk part but not the metal this aint metal! but its still great

Many people die at 6 unfortunately...

    However, R.I.P Quorthon, it's been 7 years now... :-)

  • So 7 years ago, Quorthon left Mannheim. The wind finally called his name.

Rest in Valhalla, Quorthon. You will be remembered for centuries.

  • 7 years ago He went to Valhalla...

    R.I.P. Quorthon \m/

    We'll never forget you!

  • If music is my friend, Quorthon is my Father.

  • 2 personas no entraron al valhalla

  • Masterly

  • Ten years since he's gone... and I wonder, he hasn't died in battle....where is his soul...in Valhalla?...in Nifelheim?....Nowhere?... is there anywhere to go after death?...is there a soul?... I don't know, but what I do know is that Quorthon and others will live forever through their deeds, through what they've created and left for the living ones... Thus they'll never die. NEMO VIR EST QUI MUNDUM NON REDDAT MELIOREM!

  • See you in Valhalla Quorthon.

  • Wow this sounds nothing like Under The Sign Of The Black Mark but I still like it though.

  • Amazing song

  • This is such a beautiful piece of art!

    R.I.P. Quorthon.

  • I cry every time I hear this song. The only time I ever listen to it is when someone passes away. It's become something of a tradition between a few of my close friends.

Heartbreaking in the most beautiful way.

  • @themustardofyourDOOM

    so true, my friend...

  • This has many similarities to Jupiter.I tend to think this has been produced as a tribute for the respective classical musician. It would just sound shuey if I'd start to critizise this amazing man for just one track, which is a masterpiece. He succeeded in failing of ruining the original

  • sara brigthman tambien interpeta esa cancion y suena estupenda

  • This song is going to be played during my funeral. I shall have it done like the old kings of Norseman.

  • Beautiful, I kinda wanna Cry.

  • see you in valhalla quorthon! HAIL!

  • BURZUM ALL THE WAY!!!!!

  • @daneliuk91 Burzum is great but Burzum doesn't have shit on Bathory.

  • @jjnevarez93 Burzum is shit compared to Bathory imo

  • @JudgementDayDK

Yes, but still amazing ..which goes to show how even more amazing Bathory is!

  • HAIL

  • Haha it doesnt just sound like Jupiter. It is Jupiter. Extremely stolen haha. I think they probably weren't trying to hide it though. If they wanted it to be a secret they probably would have chosen a less famous piece.

  • rise in valhall...R.I.V.Quorthon

  • legendary song!!

  • Worthy the Church of Odin (if such ever are created again)..!

  • R.I.p

Hails and rest in peace Quorthon!!

  • hey guys. this sounds like "jupiter the bringer of jollity" by gustav holst. am i the first dickhead rocognizing this?^^

  • @legrende

    No.

  • @legrende

from the wikipedia: "Hammerheart, music by Gustav Holst, rearranged by Quorthon"

  • @legrende no, but it shows you can tell who is who in classical music :-)

  • i just learned how to play this song its so beautiful

  • I just recently "discovered" Bathory, and I really regret I didn't start listening to this fantastic music earlier in my life.

    Rest in peace!

  • Hell Quorthon!

Nu har du äntligen nått Valhall!

  • Most of Black Metal bands can't do that.

    Bathory can.

  • Burzum covers were seemingly inspired by Bathory (Goth letters with album name in right bottom)

  • Quorthon got me into Gustav Holst with this song, thanks buddy!

  • "Vikings weren't choir singers after all"

I think it would be wise for you to take stock in certain aspects of the musical history of the Germanic people. First, type in "Icelandic Folk music" and you will quickly discover that the Old Norse people had a very rich singing Tradition. You might also want to consider that "medieval Gothic choire" is ultimately derived from Germanic singing techniques, the Goths after all being a Germanic tribe like the "Vikings"(not a people but an activity, btw)

  • @widugeist They had a rich singing tradition, but not in choirs. Choirs originated in monasteries... possibly based on Greek influence. Anyways the term 'Gothic' doesn't even have anything to do with the Goths. It was applied during the Renaissance to insult various art and architecture. (Because the Goths were a 'barbarian' tribe, it was supposed to be rude).

Anyways, not trying to bash you or anything dude, just a bit of a history nut ;)

    Hail Quorthon!

  • @Demosthenes426 Do the all-black-wearing-white-faced-nihilist-fags (also known as "goths") have anything to do with the Gothic period? I always found that weird.

  • amazing..

  • he was a real god and his music travels us.

    cheers from Cyprus.

  • close your eyes and listen this song, and ...be quiet.

  • I love bathory and I love Quorthon. In fact I believe he was one of the unsong founding fathers of modern heavy metal, but womever produced his music wasnt a very talented producer, as much of bathorys music sounds a bit muddy and choral vocals tend to sound like a hoard of drunkards.

  • @dogmancarr But I guess that what it is intended to be .

  • @dogmancarr that is probably the intention. Vikings weren't choir singers after all

  • R.I.P. buddy..hero...lord say Odin hi from me :)

  • Great use of Gustav Holst's Jupiter.

  • 1,must die...

  • man this song is amazing
