Why does this matter? they're a creature that lives in a desolate ecosystem way up north. If they're dieing, it's from a natural change in the environment. The ice caps are melting; they're hasn't been an ice age in thousands of years. They're not going to die off completely, they even stated that Canadian government has LIMITED the number of seals that can be caught each year, which means that they are obviously doing research to ensure that the population of seals does not become too low.

A large portion of their income comes from fishing, but the seals destroy their equipment and eat a large amount of the fish. Hey, thanks for the support. I find it to be somewhat entertaining discussing this subject with vegetarians. I'm always surprised by what they have to say. I don't think many vegetarians realize that health is mostly based on how you prepare your meal, not what the meal consists of. Besides that, they skip over the fact that it takes 3 to 4 times longer preparing a well balanced vegetarian meal than it does to prepare an equally healthy non-vegetarian meal.
You realize humans are omnivorous right? True we can survive on just plants but you have to eat a lot of different ones just to get the right vitamins amino acids and nutrients. Where meat has all the amino acids and most of the vitamins right in them. Yes they have negative effects if you a lot of RED meat. Chicken, fish fowl are all very good foryou. Nobody should be a vegetarian /vegan without knowing how to use the proper types of vegetables and supplements to obtain all necessary nutrients.

What's so bad about a little global warming. People can fucking move, cities can adapt, most animals can adapt as well. The one's that can't aren't 'fit' enough. They weren't meant to survive. Some animals win, and others lose. The seal is probably a loser. The earth adapts, man adapts, nature adapts. Not everybody wins. The rat population is doing quite well. So is the cockroach population. But these animals aren't that cute. But they are part of nature too, just like humans.

Why does this matter? they're a creature that lives in a desolate ecosystem way up north. If they're dieing, it's from a natural change in the environment. The ice caps are melting; they're hasn't been an ice age in thousands of years. They're not going to die off completely, they even stated that Canadian government has LIMITED the number of seals that can be caught each year, which means that they are obviously doing research to ensure that the population of seals does not become too low.

Don't be ignorant. The correlation of CO2 levels have increased since the industrial revolution. Saying Global Warming is a hoax is as absurd as saying the moon landing was fake. Don't believe it, keep up with the inefficient ways, and we'll see, in time, the appropriate evidence to persuade all of the critics to finally do something about this approaching problem.

Hey, thanks for the support. I find it to be somewhat entertaining discussing this subject with vegetarians. I'm always surprised by what they have to say. I don't think many vegetarians realize that health is mostly based on how you prepare your meal, not what the meal consists of. Besides that, they skip over the fact that it takes 3 to 4 times longer preparing a well balanced vegetarian meal than it does to prepare an equally healthy non-vegetarian meal.

You realize humans are omnivorous right? True we can survive on just plants but you have to eat a lot of different ones just to get the right vitamins amino acids and nutrients. Where meat has all the amino acids and most of the vitamins right in them. Yes they have negative effects if you a lot of RED meat. Chicken, fish fowl are all very good foryou. Nobody should be a vegetarian /vegan without knowing how to use the proper types of vegetables and supplements to obtain all necessary nutrients.

These are people doing research who do not have an education. They are just evironmentalists who are just trying to get funding to stop something thats impossible. They don't know that the ice caps fluxuate. As does the intensity of the sun. It all natural. We're still recovering from an ice age. What are they going to do when it starts to get cold again? Wasted time and money. It should be going towards real scientists fighting real problems. Lowering polution is great,but don't use propaganda.

What's so bad about a little global warming. People can fucking move, cities can adapt, most animals can adapt as well. The one's that can't aren't 'fit' enough. They weren't meant to survive. Some animals win, and others lose. The seal is probably a loser. The earth adapts, man adapts, nature adapts. Not everybody wins. The rat population is doing quite well. So is the cockroach population. But these animals aren't that cute. But they are part of nature too, just like humans.

A little global warming? Review your facts and try to understand the implications pointed out by scientists. Hey seals are an important part of the ecosystem, just like every living thing. And it isn't about the cuteness but what we can do as humans, who supposedly has the power, to prevent the drastic consequences of continued global warming. maybe we can do something about that 'survival of the fittest' thing, after all humans are harming nature. not the seals' fault.there are those who care

I agree ( I accidentily pressed 'post comment' as I was starting to write). It makes me feel bad that the world is kind of slowly falling apart and there isn't much I can do about it. It isn't just in the arctic that animals are suffering. A lot of trees are being cut down and animals are losing their homes and really don't have anywhere else to go.

Correction, the hottest year was 1938! Accordin g to NASA. The 0.000037% CO2 in the general air has no effect on the climate! It tracks the climate with a 4 year lag! It never forces it. Lets all do nuclear fusion, it is far cheaper.

Earth has been much, much warmer than what we are seeing now. Evidently these seals survived those much warmer periods, so clearly something else is to blame here than "global warming".
And how come the hunters have no trouble finding lots of harp seals and wast amounts of solid ice?

Thank you for creating and posting this video. As a Canadian, I am ashamed that my country sanctions this cruel, senseless and barbarous ritual. Other than writing to my MLA and teaching my students about this atrocity, I am at a loss of what to do to help correct it. Education is one of the best ways I suppose. Thank you for making that job easier for me and for others by being able to share this documentary.

Have a conscience, these are defenseless babies! Just weeks old, looking around realizing, wow this is life, how beautiful, I love my momma, I feel so good to be alive! And WHACK, just enough to stop them from getting away...then having their skin ripped from their body and left to suffer drown and die a slow painful death.
