Although you don't need to watch the first movie to watch this, since the only character from the first is Sean Anderson (played by Josh Hutcherson), and EVEN HE doesn't even reference events in the first one. Heck, even his mom didn't return for this one, and they had to hire a different actress. Despite the casting changes/omissions, however, the movie is AWESOME (specially in 3-D ;) )!! I saw it this Monday at my local theater, and I DEFINITELY recommend it :DDD

@stageameisMackdogg23 IKR?? I saw it on Monday and I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY (I'm a 15-year-old boy who likes Disney movies and ADORED Lord of the Rings so I guess it makes sense xDD)!! The 3D, the comedy, the action... OMFG, this movie is AWESOMEEE!! IF they would've only waited a little bit to shoot it and Brendan and Anita could've been in it... OH, WELL... It's still a great family flick. LOL even though my older siblings hated it!! My aunt (a 50-year-old woman) liked it also though :)))

@Northisbest he and Anita Briem (who played their guide in the first one), were actually scheduled to come back since the beginning of production, but their characters were written out because of scheduling conflicts! I think that if they HAD returned, it would've made the movie even MORE badass... the only thing I didn't like about this movie :(
