@xar0mir as has been stated, a ring can catch to cause injury, or exacerbate an injury. But rings can also heat up via induction from a large electrical or magnetic source if in close proximity for an extended period. Welders know well not to wear rings. They can cause a burn and be slow enough that you don't even notice.
Marc I'm 25 and started my workshop at age 20 in my two car garage. I just discovered your show on here and have been hooked ever since. I just wanted to know when you first started getting a passion for woodworking? I'm in Floor Covering I do HardWood Flooring among other floors but my main passion is carpentry and cabinent making. Just wanna say thanks for the inspiration that if you work hard it pays off in your trade. I'm currently setting up a new shop and looking to expand my knowledge.
@deleetmeeh Thanks man. Glad you are enjoying the content. I got started about 10 years ago when my wife and I bought our first house. Installing flooring and baseboards led to making a small night stand. Then it was all downhill from there. :)
Why removing rings? I can see how a full hand of big bling or longer chains could compromise security, but i just don't see the danger with just a wedding ring. I'm not criticizing, you are the guy with the experience, i'm not - but i just don't understand that part.
@Xar0mir Many people believe that wearing a ring in the shop at all is dangerous, let along around any spinning piece of machinery. As you can see by my statement that I don't always follow this rule, I am pretty much in agreement with you. But if I didn't address it in the video, I would have receive a crap ton of comment from people telling me how dangerous it is to wear a ring.
@Xar0mir Marc answered the reason for it being in the video, as a professional advising of possible safety concerns, even if you personally choose not to is always best course.
But from a medical perspective. If you break or sever a finger in the work shop a ring can cause significant problems later on down the track. Hopefully your safety practises prevent an accident from even happening but its always worth considering.
@mersyturning it schould be more of an aspen three couse thats the three where judas hang himsel after betraying judas but like the wood whisperer said it depend on who's version
@WLucas07 well according to Wikipedia, haha, it was started in the 50's. So it was dated even back when I was a kid in the 80's. I guess since many people still use it, it stays alive.
You wont believe this but I just finished a design for a t shirt and i came on youtube and this was the first video i watched, the funny part is the graphic says "Vampires Dont Sparkle"
By far your most important and informative video, thank you Marc, you have now given me the ability to defend my family using my dusty lathe in the corner of my shop!
Rule number 1never leave the key handle in the chuck u may forget it is there and when u turn on ur lathe u will get a nasty supprise :o

Marc,
If I turn this out of silver, do you know if it would efficiently kill a Warewolf too?

very nice vampire-killing-tool! i especially like how it comes to life, while applying the finish!
but i´d rather use some wooden bulleds and a handgun to finish the vampire-job, than making contact with that brutal thing!

Dating yourself a little using the term "teeny bopper"; but still a very useful project and approachable too.

@WLucas07 Hmm....what's the current phrase for "teeny bopper" then?
TheWoodWhisperer 1 year ago
@TheWoodWhisperer haha no way teeny bopper is definately the currant term. well at least in australia
davenbmx 1 year ago
@TheWoodWhisperer I can't think of a contemporary equivalent. I mean the term "teeny bopper" fits, it just seems dated; no offense meant.

@psychodelicdragon The turning itself was done in an evening. Finishing took a little longer though because I was waiting for the finish to dry.
