@Lwatson57 lol. There were no drivers in these cars when the movie was being filmed. For the big jumps like these they were all hooked to a cable with over 10,000 lbs of torque that threw the cars. And I can asure you drivers back then weren't as good as they are today. Watch the show a little and you might notice that almost every major jump they filmed ended in a cutaway shot with the General coming in at a lower angle because the real jump went kaput.

Too much nose diving - they forgot to put the 1,000 pounds of concrete slabs in the trunk like Warner Brothers producers did during the filming of the original show. That's how they were able to keep the extremely nose heavy Chargers from going down in an arch, and instead landing on a level plane. They still destroyed the cars from the weight of the car slamming down on the frame upon landing, but the landings were pretty level.

That's because they didn't think of adding weight to the trunk to make the jump level. That's how they did it in the show. It does hurt my heart to see them destroy the chargers but i know they fix them up :D
No kit cars. The General Lee jumping onto the freeway is my car. It is car #127 It rest quietly in Kansas. You can buy just about every body part for them.

That's because they didn't think of adding weight to the trunk to make the jump level. That's how they did it in the show. It does hurt my heart to see them destroy the chargers but i know they fix them up :D

No kit cars. The General Lee jumping onto the freeway is my car. It is car #127 It rest quietly in Kansas. You can buy just about every body part for them.

@flecur08 Actually, they used the Charger because they tried a Camaro, the suspension came out of the fenders, they tried other cars too, but the only one that stood up to the jumps well enough, but this movie was a waste, 21 Chargers used, some of them totally wrecked. D:
