  • its just lovely how the pawn brokers and the bookies of jolly old England do not take a percentage of the transaction.

    what a charming country!

  • I love Mr. Humphrey’s many entrances

  • There was an earlier episode in which Mr. Rumbold denieds Miss Belfridge a rise. I must say, and I am unanimous in this, Miss Belfridge gets a rise from me whenever she appears on the screen.

  • @MrFlibbits Check out (Candy Davis) videos online, if you haven't already. :)

  • Whenever someone else arrives in a crazy costume that looks like it can't be beat (Peacock in his shorts in this episode), Mr. Humphries beats them.

  • they're off...........

  • I miss Penny Inving from the show..Rumblods secretary is fit as fook btw..my god she has got a beautiful pair of bapps on her..Her ass is so fine u could prob bounce a manhole cover off it..She would torment the lfe outa me if I worked with her..

  • aahh! brilliant episode..when Humphries is doing the charades on the race and h dros trou to say they're off..hahaha! brilliant comedy..Peacock twitching like goodO over the geegees..brilliant! Christ he's got a few vices, eh? Wine, women and gambling..Where does he find the time to get to work b4 9am..

  • Very few comments about Miss Belfridge on this episode, strange considering...

  • 8:58 miss Brams says she and miss slocombe have been at grace brothers longer than mr humpheries, i thought he had been there 10 years when the show started and in another episode ms brams had only been at grace brothers 4 years?

  • @TheWesx The wall between the main caf and exec dining room was knocked down in an earlier episode. Now the wall is back in place.

  • Nice to see a different Capt Peacock from previous seasons.

    Oh Miss Davis!

  • its not easy... trying to twitch!

  • This has a similar plot to an earlier episode called

    "Big brother"

  • Myself, I preferred Mr. Lucas to Mr. Spooner. I loved Mr. Lucas and Mr. Humphries' friendship.

  • both spooner and lucas were total arseholes. I never liked EITHER of them and they were BOTH unnecessary to the dynamics.

  • Spooner was a shitty replacement for Lucas, whose interplay with Humphreys was one of the driving forces of the show; unfortunate that Bannister left the show

  • @sevnstrings The reason Trevor Bannister left was because he was doing a play that had a long run and had asked to change the filming date so he can do both. The powers that be at BBC didn't want to do it, so he left. Coincidently, Arthur Brough (Mr. Grainger) was instrumental in his love of theater at an early age. I loved Mr. Lucas and thought Mr. Spooner was just a sorry attempt to replace him.

  • @whatuswattingat - thanks for the info!

  • Check out the prices in the canteen at 10:58

    Fish & Chips @ 90pence !!!

  • Have to admit this was quite a weak episode from seasons 9 and 10.

Having said that, I've revised my opinion of the later series. They stand up quite well.

Season 10 I didn't see when originally aired as I was at uni in student digs so this seaon is quite fresh. Thanks for the uploads

  • Miss Belfridge, MEOW!!!

  • Only black person seen on this show ever.

  • @harukalioncourt Actually the second. One appears in the jury in Conduct Unbecoming.

  • @harukalioncourt Actually 1 of just 3. 2 in this episode. One appears in the jury in Conduct Unbecoming. But this is the only instance in which they are named.

  • @WiseOwlOfGallifrey You're forgetting the Father Christmas Affair where there was a little boy that was black who chose Mr. Grainger as the Santa cuz his face was painted black.

  • @demonicprincess09 Oh yes, that was brilliant.

  • @harukalioncourt my sentiments exactly...

  • That Mr Spooner doesn't have one nice attribute to him. He's completely unnecessary! Mr Lucas definetely had his faults but he was generally a sweet, funny and caring person.

  • @psychologie10

so much like for your comment.

  • @psychologie10

I completely disagree. Mr. Lucas was hurtful and mean-spirited, and Mr. Spooner's wisecracks are tame in comparison. I've watched every episode and I can't think of ONE instance when Mr. Lucas was sweet or caring at all. Mr. Lucas got humor out of hurting people's feelings. Is that a sweet and caring person? I am so tired of people complaining about Mr. Spooner on these message boards. He was a nice and gently humorous addition to the show.

  • @psychologie10 Spooner is a characterization of a smart alec junior, a prop. He's like a "junior" machine that spits out the necessary lines. Mr. Lucas was a character, a person who was a junior and a smart alec. But those were only attributes of a person, of Mr. Lucas. That's the difference - character vs. characterization.
