Although it turned out that Gwen wasn't actually Gwyneth but they were just related other TW members have been in dr who (not including Cpt Jack as that is obvious). In Dr Who series one there was a 2 parter with the Slitheen. Toshiko is the female doctor that analyses the 'space pig'. We know it is her as it is the same actress and Tosh disscusses the space pig with Owen just before they both die. She was covering for Owen when he was hungover.
and yeah, Ten asks GWEN about having family in Cardiff, and she replies "since the mid 1800s", so it's possible Gwen may be a great-niece of Gwyneth or something. the Doctor says something about genetic memory to her in reply.

don't forget martha also played somebody who died in the end of series 2...
also the slitheen woman looking into the heart of the tardis which regressed her not the vortex.... although i woudn't be surprised if your theor had some poignant things. what if it was the other way around. Gwen got blasted back to the 1800s and changed her identity
i just thought... the weakest spot is that arch right? so hw is it that the torchwood rift manipulator is built on the weakest spot. a mistake?
I always thought along the lines of she was Gwynadd's reincarnation/decendant. If they ever ended Torchwood for good (God forbid) that would b a good way of doing it by having Gwen's heritage revealed and somehow having her close the rift forever. Though I suspect that like Dr Who, Torchwood books + stuff will b produced long after the show has ended, and will probably b revived too. I basically agree with RTD that 20 yrs from now ppl will still b watching Dr Who, in sdome regenerated format
xoliviaobscure has sed they are not related, the bring alot of actors back e.g. moxx of balhoon also played graske, banakattalatta and baby slitheen, chan tho aslo played the fortune teller in turn left this is called SAVING MONEY and has no link
it mentions it in the series 4 season finale last episode in dr who that they are related plus its not gwynedd its gwyneth sorry but i like correcting people! Gr8 vid tho!
Hmmmm if there the same charictor that would be ausome but if there just related it would be cool if she inherited the sight i mean sh picks up on some things easier and when she wanted beat the retcon faster than a normal person ive alway hoped the gelth might come back in a torchwood episode but u never no they have anouced there doing S4 so maby we'll find out :-)
acctually they are related. I can't remember which episode (one of the ones after rose finds the doctor but before the meta crisis doctor) but the doctor and rose are in the tardis talking to people from torchwood on a computer and they point her out and are like "are you related to a long line of cardiff family" or something like that and she's like "yeah" and they are like "i see the resemblance!"
correct me if i'm wrong, but i THINK ^thats^ the gwen thing
Correct. Although I canät get one thing: Gwynedd died very young, she had no children. Maybe brothers and sisters? How else would Gwen look so much like her?
btw, have you noticed any other reappearing faces in Torchwood? For example a sweet middle-aged lady ;)
And what do you say about Tosh pretending to be a doctor instead of Owen in DW Boom Town (if I am not wrong about the episode)? Isn't that perfect for timing the Whoniverse?
I think this is a very good theory - time and space correct themselves like a domino effect around rifts so because she has a great connection to it her travel through time would have been significant enough to alter the dimension. Perhaps she's not lying - perhaps memories were lost?
I'm not a buff on the whole doctor who/ torchwood thing - i just enjoy watching them but i think this video makes a good point.
Umm no, because Gwen is RELATED to Gwyneth (Not Gwynedd! And it's Gelth not Gelf) so they can't be the same person. And if they were Gwen would be dead since Gwyneth died as soon as she steped into the arch!
ye he did say that, but gwynnedd said all her family are dead and shes alone, so where are the ancestors and they would have had to have been blood related to look alike. so i reckon this could actually happen.
i think this is well good by the way, i bet is could work thats so cool! x
Well yes but you know on the last episode of series 4. When the doctor and Rose are on the cmputer in the tardis and talking to Torchwood the Doctor Says like.. do you belong to an old cardiff family. She said right back to the 1800's and hes like its a funny old world. So There ancestors! x U gotta have a brain to watch Sci-Fi Eh? x Great Video.... x
Russell T. Davies gave an explanation. There is no blood tie. Spatial genetic multiplicity (mentioned by the Doctor in Journey's End) is an echo and repetition of physical traits across a Time Rift
From what I've heard from Eve Myles interviews, she's always saying things like "I played this character, Gwyneth, in Doctor Who, which shows how Gwen's family is connected to the Rift for centuries, so she was literally born ready for this job." Which, as people have said, doesn't really make sense unless Gwyneth (Gwyneth, not Gwynedd) had a baby in secret and gave it up, or has distant family, like cousins that she didn't stay in touch with, etc.
OMFG how did you spot that that's AMAZING! i had no idea it was the same actress, 5 stars and faved! didn't the doctor and rose also mention they met her in series 4?
That's actually a really good theory... it'll be interesting to see if it's true.. imagine if she remembered all of that? It'd be a mindfuck of note...
except Gwen isn't psychic? And also, it was hinted that at the end of season 4 that Gwen is actually the ancestor of Gwyn (When the Doctor asks her if her family is from Cardiff, he them comments of her 'strong' genes') So although it would be nice, i don't think this is true.
Its a good theory but in the Dr Who 08 finale when the Doctor sees her he asks her if she had roots in cardiff and she said 'yeah, all the way back to the 1800's'. So she's probably just a re-incarnation. x
i think you theory is good you have thought about detail and more i have only found one problem why dosent she remember? good theory though but i dont think its true
i dont think dr who and torchwood could think of a plot this good u got some good ideas i think its just a coicidence but they addressed it with a silly needless retcon of shes her great great grandma
Interesting thoughts i never though of that but what i did get annoyed by is the fact that series 1 Gwen died and didnt have any children but then she says that torchwood Gwen is from that family but how could she be if she was dead?
ummm.. in the series finnal of Doctor. Who the doctor askes Gwen how far back her family tree goes in Cardiff and you find out that its a long time, Rose and the doctor then agree that Gwenedd looks like Gwen giving the hint that theyre releated.
I see whot ur getting at but Dr Who and TORCHWOOD are made by the same people and the producers use some of the same people to be different characters but look at the clip of TORCHWOOD when Gwen gets married Jack had a picture ofhim and Gwen at their wedding i mean Jack and Gwens wedding and in Journeys end the Dr asks if Gwen's family is from 18th century Cardiff and she said yes so look into that
I knew they both looked familiar finally my brain can rest since series 4 i've ben thinking of Gwenyth and i thought that she and gwen looked familiar coz when the doctor asked gwen if she was from an old cardiff family and when she said all the way back to the 1800's i thought it must be her!
oh thts clever. I came up with a similar that Gwnedd was Gwens ancestor or something, but then that got explained in Series 4 finale but i had never actually thought of that one
that makes scence because her gwyndd parents died and she was an only child when gwyndd died that would be they end and there family tree gwen would not be alive! (i just thought it was a plothole)
yea freema agyeman (martha) was in Army of Ghosts. she played Martha's cousin Adeola who along with her coworker/boyfreind n otha coworker all became controlled by the cybers to open the void. but the doctor had to sacrifice her to close it.
Gwynedd? In The Unquiet Dead, Eve Myles played a girl named Gwyneth, maybe the various accents, Cardiff setting, CE northern, BP londoner just made it sound odd.
If this theory is true, I don't reakon we'll ever get any explanation, I think we'll just settle on the being related for now, but she seemed too young in the episode to have had children, we'll see.
Janette796, Russell T Davies has been planning "Journey's End" from the start, he admitted it himself. He always intended to use Bad Wolf in series one, and again in series four. He said himself that the series four finale has been planned right from 2005, because it's a culmination of all four series', plus the spin-off shows. And the only connection between Gwen and Gwyneth, is that Gwyneth is an ancestor of Gwen's, nothing more.
This theory has been proved wrong. In "The Stolen Earth", the Doctor asked Gwen whether she came from an old Cardiff family, because he recognised the similarity between the two. Gwen said yes, she did, dating all the way back to the 1800s. So they're related, not the same character. And the fact that they both have connections to the Rift and similarities in their names is entirely coincidental, or a family name passed down in the generations. You'll often find actors are used twice in dramas.
very intresting...nice...i saw this girl and Gwen and thought almost the same thing also and when she is saying about the darkness is about Journey's End i think...but very good theory...well done...
I think Russel had been planning Journey's End all along. Well the plotline of Journey's End i.e. Davros' relaity bomb. Gwyneth said "The things you've seen: The Darkness." She could see that Rose would become Bad Wolf at the end of season 1 and she could also see the Darkness/the relaity bomb/the end of the universe and Rose fighting against it. My opinion.lol.
I Mentioned that Last Week! Then When Doctor Who Was On And Gwen Said It Was Dating Back to the 1800's :P Her Old Cardiff Family, and rose and the doctor mentioned About.. Something to do with genetic La de da :P
This video is so awesome, I forgot the same actress was in the Whoniverse b4. While I'm not sure who RTD is,RTD may have the info to know a connection wasn't intended, but will it be left that way? Coincidences can turn out to be more, Gwyneth gave her life to help others and kept giving after to protect people. What does Gwen do, she tries to help and protect humans and Aliens around the rift,Just like Gwyneth! They had the daughter of a former Dr. play the Dr.'s daughter. They can use this too!
I thought it was clear.Gwens family tree goes back to the 1800's.Thats why the Doctor asked her because he'd seen her face before. Its not ment to be the same person but in line of the same family.Very clever.
well that theroy could be plausible exept becasue of journeys end which says that gwen coopers family tree goes back to the 1800s so they are realted but through blood their not attualy the same person (i thought it was very clever becasue the doctor and rose would have to regonise her)
RTD just liked her performance in DW and wanted her in Torchwood.
Hes done it with loads of actors, most known Freema Agyman.
But loads of cast members have been brought back, most recently the actress who played Chanto was brought back to play the fortune teller in Turn Left
OMG i love your theory! they should have done that instead!

My opinion.lol.

i'm certain of it. 'the darkness' is occasionaly mentioned in doctor who, but it is a very big theme in torchwood. especially connected with death.

I Take My Comment Back After Watching Last Nights! They Are Linked :)
iloveyooall 3 years ago
I thought it was clear.Gwens family tree goes back to the 1800's.Thats why the Doctor asked her because he'd seen her face before. Its not ment to be the same person but in line of the same family.Very clever.

though the two characters are related doctor said last night
xxx

well that theroy could be plausible exept becasue of journeys end which says that gwen coopers family tree goes back to the 1800s so they are realted but through blood their not attualy the same person (i thought it was very clever becasue the doctor and rose would have to regonise her)

RTD said Rose wasn't coming back?

SHE BETTER BE!!!!!

RTD just liked her performance in DW and wanted her in Torchwood.
Hes done it with loads of actors, most known Freema Agyman.
But loads of cast members have been brought back, most recently the actress who played Chanto was brought back to play the fortune teller in Turn Left

Its Gwyneth actually.
And RTD said they aren't linked.
Kirstehhh 3 years ago
