  • awesome, best version as i've ever heard

  • * * * * *

  • Some people just don't deserve to sing specific songs.... I'm sorry to say so but boys U SUCK!

  • this is a great song that almost no one knows. Thank you BC for playing it!

  • Love this, the only thing bad is the dead crowd

  • by the way this was in 1990..opening the pinkpop-festival in holland..

and surprisesurprise in ´93 headliners..both times it was great..well aren´t they

    allways great...

  • he killed the song

  • very awful so pitchy melody overplace agliest version of beautiful song.

  • everybody who says this cover sucks just can't understand that when you play some songs from other people, you're not a real musician if you don't add something of your own, you're just a rip off.BTW i'm pretty sure Lennon would have liked their version,Lennon LOVED the blues

  • The Early 90'z when The Crowes were just birthed...good sheet ...all the way to amorica...Before Marc here.... i'm just a jealous gal ..Jeffrey Cease...i give him his props !!!!

  • I was just going to say 'does this remind anyone of Seinfeld?' but someone beat me to it.

  • goddamn they are fuckin awesome

  • This truly is a remarkable version of this song. Adds a completely different dimension to it. Love it.

  • Man this should have been in John Lennon's tribute instead of Colective soul's version...Not sayin' that CS did it bad but The Crowes just nailed it...Luv u Chris..

  • this is horrible....

  • @BaggedS10Extreme r u serious they made it there own and did a damn fine job if i say so myself i'm a big lennon fan but come on man this isn't bad this is really good dude

  • Well we finally know what happened to Jerry's Puffy Shirt.

  • @boxboy1961 HA! Good one

  • @boxboy1961 but i don't wanna be a pirate!!!!

  • Great song. But I prefer Frankie MIller's version.

I think the Crowes were inspired by his version...very much

  • I have the CD single for `Twice As Hard along with this tune and 'Rainy Day Women'. 1st time I saw the Crowes they opened for Aerosmith along with Metallica and Warrant (if you can believe that).

  • @keef186 HAHA!! Me too!! Awesome! It was at the CNE Grand Stand.

  • @keef186 HAHA!! Me too!! Awesome! It was at the CNE Grand Stand.

  • @mizjennay1313 Yeah that was it I managed to find my ticket stub...June 29, 1990. Some of the crowd left after Metallica so we were able to move up real close to the stage for Aerosmith.

  • Great song....should have slowed it down.... I think.

  • damm I am a huge fan, but I almost forgot what chris looked like before the beard

  • SO YOUNG! LOVE it! Can't get enough of Chris and the boys! Rocking the fuck out.....can't wait to see them at the Fillmore again in December! YAY!!!

  • best cover i have seen by far Can't stand a cover if they try to emulate the original song-that stinks! This performance touched me

  • this is the worst cover I've ever heard, and I've heard green day's ''working class hero''. I'm actually angry that this happened.

  • i really like Black Crowes, but Jealous Guy seems fake to me when it's covered different from Lennon's version. They put their own style, and that's nice, but only Lennon singing sounded true

  • @tiagoids if they kept the version exactly like Lennon's you'd complain they were ripping him off or imitating him.

  • @harvey20c I agree, but my point is their version just don't fit the feeling of this music. Listen Legião Urbana's cover, in A Montanha Música. It's brazilian rock of high class level and you'll understand what I'm saying. Anyway, Black Crowes rocks!

  • Their mood, style, and sounds have changed, but the passion has always been there. Black Crowes... may your music live forever

  • @suysauce007 Their sound has changed??

There were some added sounds on Lions, but really their style doesn't seem to change to me...

  • @Zakdayak Anymore their whole stage presence and attitude is that of The Band. It's just a whole different show seeing them two weeks ago than it was 10 years ago. But it's all amazing.

  • what kind of guitar is jeff playing?

  • @iluvroknrol93 Looks like a Les Paul Junior

  • Love this guy!!!

  • Rich's hairdo looks him look like a member of the Bangles

  • Nice hair. Lots of upkeep required, though. Can see the difference Marc Ford brought to the band.

  • @lsw444

marc is not in this video

  • @iluvroknrol93

    exactly

  • exactly

  • Tough crowd... lol

  • The best way to download this as an mp3 is on that site mp3iiiiify. Awesome site. GOOGLE mp3iiiiify

  • Metal version--love it!

  • This is a great cover. Very different from the original. they really puit their own spin on it. I hate when bands just make a carbon copy of a song.

  • Love it! Love Chris Robinson! Love The Black Crowes!!!

  • like that southern rock style to a beatiful ballad pretty sure john l.would like it.

  • Hi people,

this was in 1990 at The Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf the Netherlands.

They were the openings-act of the festival and the first time they played in Europe.

I remember it very well, it was a great performance early in the morning....

  • does someone know where can i get a mp3 version of this song?

  • does anyone know of what other songs from this concert?pens2lips2live

  • wonder wat they b like half sober lol

  • great version

  • Bloody awesome version!

  • wow video music..remember when i was little..

  • Weather Chris wants to admit it or not, at the very least his stage moves are very late 60's, early 70's Rod Stewart. And the Faces also did a great cover of Jealous Guy

  • chris is good. :)

  • more from that conc!

  • Have you got the version of " jealous again " of the same recital?

    :)

  • sss.ROD STEWART ,THE FACES ,.IGUALITOS.,SONIDO ,70,S.

  • Cool as a Black Crowes song, but I like the understated Lennon version much better. Much more intimate without the bombast.

  • hes trying to be Rod Stewart

  • incorrect!!!

Chirs own words taken from the Rolling Stone interview:

He's also sick of hearing about his great debt of influence to Rod Stewart. "Hey, the Replacements could have been the Faces. To me it's so obvious I'm a Steve Marriott rip-off that I never think about Rod. I admit it. Steve Marriott is the guy, him and Paul Rogers and Gregg Allman."

So there you go, knowing Marriott's work in Small Faces and Humble Pie is hard to arguing and deny!!!

  • hermosoooo!!

  • John Lennon was a musical genius, no one of the last 45 years even comes close

    NO ONE...........PERIOD!

  • amen to that

  • Period my ass. There are and were lots of better musicians than he ever was.

  • Oh yea? Musical geniuses? That could write like him? Sing like him and play like him? Name them.....

  • Wow..ok, I respect your opinion. Lennon/McCartney had more no 1 hits than anyone ever and over 1 billion records sold, that's pretty special. I do agree with you on Neil Young, probably my 3rd favorite.

  • I respect your opinion as well, of course. Surely they're something special, but I've never really gotten into The Beatles' music.. It just doesn't do anything for me I guess. Neil Young truly is one of the greatest!

  • chris robinson sings with so much passion! fuckin amazing! great cover! great frontman!

  • Not a fan of John Lennon??? WTF!

  • hang yourself fucking high then!

    lennon was it

here, I'm passing you the rope (do it)

you missed the boat of music life

  • its live//// not memorex//// get a clue u dildoo!!

  • One word: sucks!!!!!!

  • It's an amazing cover, but in my opinion I've heard better. Danger Danger's Andy Timmons did a cover of this song, and it was great. the best.

But the black crowes' still rules

  • my fucking GOD HE WAS HOT!!

    AAAAAH

  • u suck beatles r best ever and tbc kicks ass...

  • too bad the beatles didnt write the song

  • I keep coming back to this as i think it is genuinely the best "cover" ive seen.Appreciate everyones comments about covers and i agree,if it is just a complete facsimilie it is usually inferior. This is creative and inspired.Lucky enough to have seen the Crowes on every UK/European tour since '90 and they have never let me down. They are fundamentally the dogs bollocks.

    Amen.

  • not a fan of john lennon, but love this black crowes cover. chris robinson has one of the greatest voices in rock n roll

  • i fucking agree!!!

    i saw them WOO!!!

    =D

  • blues performance... black crowes performance

  • brilliant cover, one of the best i,ve heard, but not the original

  • think this was inspiration for jealous again?

  • All they have in common is one word IMHO. I can see very little similarity, but who knows what might have inspired it.

  • Classic version!!!!!!

Rod Stewart should have covered this classic John Lennon song years ago.

This makes me really miss my idol John Lennon more. John Lennon is the fucking LOGO of music just like Legendary basketball player Jerry West is the NBA logo of basketball.

  • he did with the faces not bad either

  • commie23, thanks did not know that.

check out his Mick Jagger 1969 'Altramont" moves from 3:40-3:44

  • Rod stewart don't need this dirty song.

Lennon went out pissing and shitting himself with the birds and rats feeding off his blood, killed by a fan, who was his/beatles only fan.

  • wild version,blackcrows.lennon would've loved it

  • nope, its maybe the same lyrics, but its no cover. Its not being played the way its meant to be played; the way lennon sings it he delibratly put the lyrics where he did to flow a certain way. With all this "covers" different riffs and trying to remix the song it sounds nothing like it should..just a stealer of lyrics. well played guitar, but don't try to pass it off as jealous guy's piano

  • Fucking John Lennon is the greatest of them all and that incudes The Beatles!

He was the moving spirit of The Beatles

Music took a "MAJOR HIT" on Dec. 8, 1980

If anybody does not know this then your fucking brain dead!!!!

  • Hi,

"onewest72nd" is a TROLL banned from many youtube videos. He wants you to argue with him. Just click "bad comment" and then ignore him. Ask the video poster to block him too.

    His another sock puppets are "vytautas70", "bewaremylove", "shewp41", "varsitystadium69", "johnyrythm9", "94beatlesrbest".

    Thanks!

  • How tight is this!!

Saw them in Rotterdam that Summer. Not going to get any work done this afternoon.

God bless the Crowes, this is a cover of genius, and you cant say that very often

  • dios!!!!! pedazo de versión!!!!!!

  • i'm glad he can still sing well. the way he use to scream, it's lucky his voice is still intact. he's actually a better singer today than he was in this video. remarkable. rich's playing is even more stellar now too imho.

  • So much like Rod Stewart and the Faces in the hay day..WOW

  • Thats my favorite Cover ever

  • that's the right way to cover a song, superb

  • Omg!, very good cover!!

  • agree with all...John would be proud...

  • great cover... sounded like a black crowes song

  • wow that took this song and made it they're own i like this version alot

  • sounds like something paula abdul would say

  • what i ment was they did't try to do like lennon they did their own thing with it i'm not some dumb drunk bitch please don't compare me with paula abdul

  • Pretty cool, but NOTHING compares to John Lennon. But great rock cover for this song.

  • cool

  • I saw them open for Aerosmith in 1989.

  • fricken lucky

  • Better than sex!!!

Chris is the man, then and NOW!

  • I saw the 'Crowes in 90 at Queens, Belfast. The room was tiny but what an atmosphere! They were opened by Thee Hypnotics. The atmosphere was intense, bloody great concert. Luv the Crowes!!

  • Gotta love The Crowes. The first to cover Lennons Jealous Guy and not butcher it!

  • this is 1990 i believe, the pinkpop music festival in holland, i think pearljam also played on that day. this is early crowes too, ed harsh hadnt joined the band yet. they'd used chuck leavell on the studio recordings but i don't think theres a keyboard player on stage here. check out thick n' thin from here too, its on youtube somewhere.

  • i was so pissed... i met jeff cease and got his autograph on this tour. less than month later i hear they had fired him, man i was really pissed off. then along came marc ford and i figured i could let it go while i just listened 2 the suothern harmony... album. then all was better

  • Where's Old Weird Ed, the keyboard/organ player??

  • he was normally right off 2 1 side on this tour as he wasnt a named member of the band, if u look 2 the left of chris and rich u should catch the odd glimpse of him.

  • That guy rules, because he drinks human blood.

  • Why the black crowes covers allways send me the same message?: "go for a beer and enjoy"

  • i don't think you saw the REAL Dirty Mac. because the real one was Lennon's band for the Rock n Roll Circus. with Clapton, Richards, and Mitch Mitchell.

well it may have been a real band but it probably stole the name from Lennon.

    B

  • Lennon amy have wrote it but The Crows put the Balls in this song.

  • you tea and crumpet english guys make us laugh out loud here in the USA- they were a great band- the audience changed, they never did.... one of the last rock n' ROLL bands... you queen mothers have always been enamoured with american rock n roll- even lennon-- now go play some ''skiffle''

  • cos these guys aren't stealing from the rolling stones at ALL...

    Skiffle 4 EVA

    :o)

  • And the Stones weren't "stealing" from Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, right? ;-)

  • and they weren't stealing from the african folk tradition and mixing it with the scots/irish folk tradition they encountered in the melting pot that was young america, right?

    i LOVE music...

    :o)

  • you could'nt possibly love music.

  • you're right. you know me, obviously

  • Me, too.

  • no, they were a part of that culture, i dont mean 2 be hostile or argumentative, but robert johnson etc., were the birth of the blues as we know it, so they didnt copy from any1

  • skiffle, just keep saying it, skiffle, skiffle... ha!

  • transcendant..!

  • Can see the Rod/Faces influence heavy in this...Check out the faces performance of jealous guy on here to know what I mean mate.

  • Bring this cover back to the setlist...representing the Nashville Tennessee police department

  • sweet pirate shirt

  • john lennon covered this song, i think a cat named jimmy scott first sang it....it's old school.

  • No.... John Lennon wrote it while he was in the Beatles but it was called "Child Of Nature" then he re-wrote the lyrics and it became Jealous Guy it was never sang by "a cat named Jimmy Scott"

  • Jimmy Scott did a cover of it on an album called "holding back the years" Never say never.

  • Great!!! Honestly think its better than John Lennon's original version.

  • chris is so hot! still

  • Yeah, I had a tape from a concert in Holland in 1991! Nice cover!

  • i'm jealous.......

    they're nuts

  • lennon could write them

  • what a gift

  • inkredibols

  • Great.

  • Nice.

They were on the way up.

    What a great band.

  • Best band ever!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • Yeah! They just copy the way the Faces did it!

  • Heard this years ago at school, hadn't heard it since...just superb....the Crowes never let you down.

  • raw , passion fucking classic black crowes awsome!!!!!

  • It was performed in 1990 in Holland. The Black Crowes take on The Faces' version of Jealous Guy. This is the best version of the three. I love The Black Crowes

  • Jesus! I love The Black Crowes! Classic

  • my favourite song by my favourite band, what a blast !! du bonheur en barre .......

  • Beautiful!!!

    Thanks for posting this

  • a jewel thank you guy or gal for posting
