next year, however, may be when duke gets back to final 4 / championship form. both plumlees and nolan smith, seth curry transferring, elite guard kyrie irving and top notch joshua hairston coming into town.

roscoe smith, being a national recruit, is obviously a talented ball player. so is terrence ross. at this point, we can only hope we land one and pray that it's the right one.
also, being a shooter doesn't necessarily mean being more fit for duke. duke's had solid perimeter players for the past several years, including this year with scheyer/smith/dawkins/singler.
but: duke looks much better this year than they did last year. a lot of it is because they have more size and better PF/C play, rebounding, defensive presence, etc.
again, as fans, we can only see as much as we can and put faith in the scouting program. then rip them apart later if wrong. lol

duke is back to national contention this year, but is not going to win the title. the lack of athleticism will do them in.
next year, however, may be when duke gets back to final 4 / championship form. both plumlees and nolan smith, seth curry transferring, elite guard kyrie irving and top notch joshua hairston coming into town.
if these 2 things work out, duke will be a preseason top 3 and a favorite to win it all:
-singler stays
-roscoe smith enrolls at duke
let's wait and see what haps!

Man, Dukes got some good recruits, and possible a 3rd plumlee in the future. We will really miss Jon Schyer next year but with Irving, Hairston, RSmith and NSmith, singler and the plumlees. And who can leave out Andre Dawkins. Duke has a special team coming up! can't wait

i think your lineup needs some tweeking. roscoe smith has not signed with duke yet, so you cannot assume he will be on the roster. i think he's also considering kansas and uconn.
you forgot seth curry, one of the leading scorers in D1 last year with great game- a la his brother stephen curry.
also, singler may opt out of his senior year and head to the draft. he's playing well enough to be a 10-20 pick in the 1st round.
but yea, duke will have one of its better teams in a while.

now we have a very real shot at landing terrence ross who, in my opinion, is better than roscoe smith and while his natural position is SG, he should be able to play well starting at SF and if Singler stays, backing Singler up

how exactly did you form your opinion that ross is better than smith? i mean, you can't really say that unless you've seen them both play often. both are top recruits, but no youtube clips or statements by word of mouth could tell you who is better.
either way, it gives the potential duke class stronger. i doubt both commit, as one will see the other as a PT reducer.

well obviously, im not an expert as to who is better...and also, what i read doesnt mean all that much...but what i guess i meant is that terrence ross is better for duke...he can drain the 3's whereas smith is more of a shotblocker...plus ive read around that roscoe smith isnt all that impressive and that ross is extremely undervalued....of course that doesnt mean all tht much but it counts for sumthin
right now...id say we have a good shot at landing ross and very little at smith

i've also been addicted to learning as much as possible about duke's classes for a long time and i've heard it all. people talked about how JJ reddick wasn't going to be good and about how shavlick randolph was going to be the next laettner.
roscoe smith, being a national recruit, is obviously a talented ball player. so is terrence ross. at this point, we can only hope we land one and pray that it's the right one.

also, being a shooter doesn't necessarily mean being more fit for duke. duke's had solid perimeter players for the past several years, including this year with scheyer/smith/dawkins/singler.
but: duke looks much better this year than they did last year. a lot of it is because they have more size and better PF/C play, rebounding, defensive presence, etc.
again, as fans, we can only see as much as we can and put faith in the scouting program. then rip them apart later if wrong. lol

lol exactly...and when i said Ross would be a better fit...i mean that he would play the 3 on the peremiter which would mean he would get many 3s (but he could also drive every now and then) while roscoe smith is primarily a defensive weapon (from what i have seen from him) and we already have those shot blockers in the plumlees. From what i saw from Smith (westchester and westview games), he really wasnt that impressive..he had blocks here or there but he was irrelevant on the Off. end.

well i wouldn't know about particular strengths or weaknesses other than what others have written or said.
according to most recruiting sources, roscoe smith has very good ball handling skills, ability to drive/finish, and a very good jumpshot as well. it seems as though scouts rave about his offensive game.
it'd be nice to have a scoring option down low. right now duke's only weakness appears to be just that. miles p. has shown some skills on occasion, but smith could be a consistent option

while Im sure Roscoe Smith is a great player...I just feel Terrence Ross would fit in a lot better with Duke and he would serve a role similar to what darius miller is doing with kentucky or danny green did with carolina.....but yeah, id be greatful to have either one of them...even trey zeigler

yea, getting either one would be phenomenal right now, especially because others wouldn't get 'em.
the class is very good as is and either one would vault duke almost surely into the 'top 3 favorite' status, so long as singler decides to stay, and top 5-10 if he leaves. at this point i think duke fans have to consider the likelihood that nolan smith might leave as well- he's playing great this year and with irving coming in he may feel this was his best year to showcase PG skills.

eh...i dont think it would be within Nolans best interest to leave early. He's a short 6'3 2 guard that last year, proved that he couldnt handle the point. I think he will need all the college time he can get before he gets NBA ready...and looking on some NBA Mock Drafts, all most all of them have him going undrafted in 2010

these same people didn't expect nolan to have the kind of season he is having. he's actually been playing the point spot very well this year- the position was supposed to be scheyer's full time but nolan has shouldered the burden for significant time.
i hope he doesn't go and want singler/smith back but it's possible. people said the same t of dahntay jones... anything can happen
