  • we got our siren test every sunday at 6

  • What kind of radio is that?

  • What frequency do they run on?

  • Not sure of this, but I think there used to be a federal law, that emergency services sirens and horns that could double as Civil Defense alarms had to be tested twice a day. Most got tested at noon, with the second test determined by the agency on who's building the noisemaker was on. Some tested at 0600, 0800, 1700 or 1800 hours.

  • is that a ham radio?

  • @georgethe09 nope

  • WHY...tell me WHY??? ...really, W-H-Y???

  • usually they are used for urgent emergency calls, such as a fire, shooting, ect. they get the attention of the police units.

  • could i perhaps get the Frequencies for the codes being sent out? I own a scanner and and monitor it everyday. iam just intreged by the sound of the siren and would like to hear the siren code being sent out that way i could hear the siren when it is told to play and what not.

dont ask me why i just have a deep intrest for sirens that sends intrest and chills up my spine. :)

  • What kind of siren do the dtmf tones set off?

  • What are those tones for?

  • they activate all the sirens at noon
