In "Blood Atonement and the Origin of Polygamy", Joseph F Smith, the Living Mormon Prophet, said Joe was killed at Carthage Because of Polygamy! Thus, the shooters were aware of Mormon Polygamy and it's implications. And Everyone at Carthage was a Freemason. Inside the jail and outside it! The jailer, sheriff, Gov, military, Joe, Hyrum Taylor, all were FM playing a game of Freemason Hardball in Carthage, a jail with No Lock on the door! (and wine and guns smuggled in)
Thank you! I wish there were more people like you in this world! You don't have to agree but stop ridiculing. Again thanks sometimes it's good to know that there are some reasonable people out there.

If I had a "printing press" and I just wanted to destroy it, for whatever reason, then I could go out and trash it. I'm fine, with that.
BUT, if a religious culture comes and destroys my printing press, in order to SILENCE me, in my constitutional rights of freedom of speech and the freedom of that press (i.e, in my freedom to print the truth of what I observed), then we have a real problem, there!
Joseph SMith could not "tolerate" that Doctor William Law wanted to reveal Smith's dirt...
Mormons STILL believe in the "tyranny of England"; for, that is what they embrace, in their "funny little Article of Faith, number 12".
"WE BELIEVE IN BEING [good, loyal] SUBJECT[s] TO [English] KINGS, [and other rulers, monarchs, and dictators]: IN OBEYING, HONORING, AND SUSTAINING THE [English king, in his--the king's--] LAW."
The words, in brackets, were added to make the meaning of this Article of Faith ABSOLUTELY clear!
(There is no "rule of law", here: it is the "rule of KINGS")
@orlovna2 You also left out a few other chunks. It's actually super simple if you read the entire thing without your added translation. Basically, it's saying that Mormons believe in upholding the law in whatever country they live in. .... is there something wrong with being a citizen of a country where you follow the laws?
@orlovna2 First off, if you are going to quote something get it right. "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, magistrates and in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law."
That clearly means that as an international religion, LDS people believe in being loyal to their country, whether they're in England to the Queen, the USA/France with a President, or whatever country they reside. Your arguments are all flawed.
You are "re-inventing the wheel", there, buddy-boy!
I wrote Article of Faith #12 EXACTLY as it reads (and inserted bracketed words, to make it very, very clear what Smith meant, when Joe-Joe Smith devised such a jack-wagon article of faith! Here it is, again:
"WE BELIEVE IN BEING [loyal] SUBJECT[s] TO KINGS....[and other rulers]: IN, [by, and through] OBEYING, HONORING, & SUSTAINING [the king, in his] THE [king's] LAW."
You are actually guilty of trying to make that Article of Faith say what it does NOT say!
In other of my posts, I gave examples of Lds-Church Presidents telling Mormons to be loyal to Hitler (Heber J. Grant did this!), and to Erich Hoenecker (Tom Monson did this!): at various times, throughout mormon history.
The curious thing about what they did was to make "mormons fight mormons", during wars, that way: German "Saints", as Nazis, fighting Americans, for example.
As I said in prior posts, here, ARTICLE OF FAITH #12 is not talking about loyalty to a "rule of law". It is talking about being KING MEN (the same as in Alma 51): willing and loyal subjects of a king! or a dictator ruler (like Hitler)!
In subjecting yourself to a king, you would give up all your freedoms: because a king has "all power"; and, this is the very definition of TYRANNY!
You would've been LOYALISTS, to King George III (1777-1781): not freedom fighters!
Shawn McCraney has it right. Joseph SMith indeed DID destroy the "freedom of the press", in Nauvoo. This right--of a free press--is one of the founding principles of freedom, in the U.S.A.
Even Governor Ford, of the state of Illinois, had an "appointment", to interview Smith: to determine if he was indeed guilty of TREASON (for ordering the destruction of that printing press).
Before the Governor could question the prisoner (Smith), he (Smith) was killed, for his treason.
@orlovna2 any student of laws knows that destroying a press isnt treason. Seeing as to the number of mormons killed because of papers like the nauvoo expositor, i think the prophet was right in destroying it. When the mob attacked the prophet, the soldier's guns were empty, and after making a sham battle in which no-one was injured, the soldiers helped kill the smiths. Govenor Ford ordered, and was guilty of, the murder of the prophet. Learn your history.
You said, "on the other hand are his [Smith's] followers..."
That is the true definition of a cult!
Back before you were born, we used to refer to this or that "cult of personality" (as also the phrase, "so-and-so has a 'cult following'"). You are following this man Smith, as certain as any other cult does, with their cult following!)
"Building up a Society" is also a function of a CULT: giving them "mormon CULTure".
@orlovna2 Under a strict definition, mormonism is a cult, as is every other organized religion in the world that I can think of. However, I dont think its fair to label something a cult and move on. Whether a cult or not, Mormonism is a force of charity, compassion, and goodness throughout the world. As a non-LDS I don't know a whole lot about Joseph Smith. However, I do know that, in spite of his sins and shortcomings, he did create something good and should be praised for that.
The contex of 2 Sam 12: 7-8 Is Nathan telling David that God tranferred Saul's House and poseessions over to David to be his servants. Why would God give him another's man wife for Polygamy while at the same time confronting his Sin with Bathsheba?
I find it hard to believe that a church that does so much good could be so bad. Actually, I don't believe it.
I find it sad that people out there who claim to be followers of Christ would be so hateful to another religion. Is that what your church teaches you? Are you the judge or is God?
@perdicious: Yeah, & why are everyone so down on Mussollini? After all, he made the trains run on time.
machiavelli himself talked about this in The Prince. A leader should do some good things, especially he should be seen to do good things. This is especially true if he wishes to do bad things. The worse he wishes to do, the better the things he should make a show doing in public. It is a good way to dupe the willfully gullible. You have said it, you choose not to believe it.
@perdicious: It is your argument I am attacking. The good he supposedly did doesn't mitigate the bad he did, for he did very bad things. W/ the Nauvoo Legion business & the Danites & the very strong evidence connecting him to assassinations, & the public threats of violence; Smith was a very bad man. Nauvoo was classic Waco, Jonestown scenario in the making. It is only very fortunate for us that he was arrested & the potential for violence was mitigated.
@perdicious: What Mormons are today has nothing to do w/ who Smith was. Many organisations evolve. I simply require them to be honest about where they've come from. The LDS Church isn't willing to do that. This systemic dishonesty is my beef w/ the that organisation.
You just LOVE YOUR "CAR" too much! That's all! Because your church is a "vehicle" (as some have said). And, then there are now 500,000 FORMER OWNERS of that silly, stupid, and "DANGEROUS" vehicle, who are not going to sit back and say nothing: because they will not be quiet, about the inherent dangers of that product!
@orlovna2 That was a really silly comment... what 500,000 are you talking about? I think you have your panties in a twist about this church for some reason you aren't saying, and I am sorry you feel the need to waste your time crying about a church you clearly don't like or belong to. I hope one day you wake up and realize you've wasted time shrieking about how "bad" this church is.. when you could have spent that time actually doing something productive and helpful for other people.
i guess he was killed because people got sick of him breaking the law and listening to his tall stories, sounds a bit nicer than lies, you never know but maybe even the mormons wanted rid, get rid of an embarrassment while creating a martyr, albeit a gun toting martyr who shot three men and killed one...
In the Old Testament GOD GAVE WIVES to David through prophet Nathan.
2 Sam 12:7 ¶ And Nathan said to David, ...Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy masters house, and thy masters wives into thy bosom,
There you go. THUS SAITH THE LORD.
There are many who are hinting that polygamy was evil. Abraham was bad, etc. But the BIBLE SAYS that THUS SAITH THE LORD, David's wiveS were given to him.
Back to the point of this clip. Joseph Smith wasn't a martyr like Mormon lore likes to proclaim so as to bolster this false prophet and false scripture. He committed a crime as Shawn says. Now the methodology of justice was rushed a bit by the mob rather than going to trial, but Joe Smith did not get shot because of his faith. He tried to take away freedom of speech because it would in fact incriminate him and reveal truth.
As a good mormon person you will hearken unto the words of men, your so called prophet, rather than the word of God. And the hierarchy of mormon leadership is an insult to the true disciples and apostles of christ. They proclaimed of christ because they saw him and heard his words. Mormon leadership is a mockery to those that actually knew Christ. Not one of those Mormon men that call themselves the 12 have seen the resurrected Christ, NOT ONE!
Don't try to SPIN this into me trusting in man. I have stated REPEATEDLY that I have placed my trust in God, and I test things said by prophets NOT by looking at past scripture, but by what I feel in my HEART and by the Gift of the Holy Ghost. That is the only SURE way to know anything. Trust in man? Not me. You...
Here's how I do it:
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
I don't have to spin anything. Unless you don't sustain Thomas S. Monson and others as "prophet, seer, and revelator." And thank you for proving my point. "Feelings" i.e. emotions are not the Spirit of God. But that isn't something you are able to understand. While a member I would have the same sensation at times when "feeling the spirit" as I would listening to Rachmaninov or just before a panic attack. Perhaps those were the spirit proclaiming truth?
only one question? What do you do with the facts that disagree with your feelings.. Feelings can be manipulated. But facts are facts.. Its just the way it is.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you trust in the arm of flesh. The arm of the brain. The arm of the scholar. The arm of the text of the Bible.
It means nothing if you don't also commune with God.
John 4: 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Worship in spirit. Not in SCHOLAR. Not in BRAIN. But in the spirit. It means being spiritual. It means answers to prayers, Holy Ghost, witnesses, burning in bosom.
Your totally wrong, I totally believe in a personal relationship with Christ. And the witness of Holy Spirit.
Odd thing is my witness has always agreed with the bible.. Mormonism doesn't.. Since many religions base things on feelings to a degree it only proves that feelings can and are manipulated. So what's left? Nothing but facts.. If your feelings and the facts don't add up, someones feelings are definitely wrong.
Yes, you are right! Not one of those so-called "apostles" is a special eyewitness of Christ, and neither are they "prophets" (viz., all 15 of those Apostles who are "sustained as" prophets, seers, and revelators, every time they have a general conference).
IF a man, anciently, prophesied (and that prophecy came true), he was called a prophet; for, a prophet is the definition of what that person actually does!
Mormon Leader-dogs are not prophets: they DON'T prophesy!
I think there is more than sufficient evidence to trace the biblical lineage back to the time in which the words it were inspired (including the dead sea scrolls). Unlike the BoM which does not go past Joe Smith with any evidence, historical, or archaeologically whatsoever. We don't need to say anything further than Joe Smith's book of Abraham to claim he was a fraud.
If you lived in the days of Moses, and he came down from the mountain with stone tablets, but you didn't get to see God write on those stone tablets personally, you would just have to take Mose's word for it, OR, OR, you would have to do as the Mormons do and PRAY about it to get a WITNESS that something is true and as a prophet says it is.
There is no other way.
You guys are behaving like you need physical proofs and historical evidence to believe. That's NOT faith.
But the evidence that exists from Bible history supports the faith. There is NO evidence from BoM history. And for the record they did see God in the pillar of fire and as a cloud by day. But if you read the Bible you would already know that. They didn't believe in some tingly feeling magical mumbo jumbo. That's not to say there weren't people who still argued against God just like Mormons do. Having been Mormon I know the only one who may be closed minded is another Mormon.
In Moses' day, there was no evidence for what Moses taught.
Fire will come down from heaven soon, by the power of the DEVIL. If you think seeing miracles proves something is of God, then read this:
Rev. 19: 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
The fact that you say you were a mormon before certainly gives you NO CLOUT to trump a mormon's comments by suggesting that you already know what we know, as if to have a leg up or something... and suggesting that its only a matter of time before we come your way on it... No...
All it means is that you never were converted in the first place. People that are converted DO NOT fall away:
Alma 23: 6 as many as believed and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.
You have got to be kidding me!! I DO know what you know as a Mormon I WAS ONE! I stupidly believed in it! That is the most redicuouls thing I've ever heard! I served a mission and went to the temple. I read the same books and church periodicals listened to the same General Conference. You can't tell me I have no basis to comment from other than that I have now found the truth in the true word of God and not Joe Smith's fairy tale.
I don't believe in the BOM so that won't work with me. But thank you for proving my point yet again. Since finding the true Christ and word of God I have not fallen away. And praise be to God Mormonism didn't take my soul away. But I will say there sure are a bunch of smart cookies in the Mormon church. Shame that so many smart people have been fooled. Thankfully God has been with me and changed my heart and led me away from the bondage of Mormonism.
@mormonanswerman - I will take the physical proof that the Bible exists and is the word of God over your feelings the BoM is scriputure any day of the week. The bible tells us our hearts and feelings are corrupt and cannot be trusted (Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 1:23-26,1 Timothy 6:5 etc.). This is why the Mormon methodology of feeling the spirit is flawed. If you put your heart and full self in Christ you will not be led astray, Jesus was the last prophet priest and king, not Joe Smith.
Well if that's the message you are interpreting from the Bible, that we can never enjoy the gift of revelation because some people's hearts are corrupt, I feel sorry for that position. What a position of sadness and hopeless despair, to think that you can never trust in a feeling God gives you. What hopeless doubt and lack of trust in God.
...but you trust your brain, don't you?
Where in the Bible does it say "trust your brain?" over your heart?
What I am saying is that we can't trust "feelings" as a measure of spiritual truth. That's what the scripture is talking about. By our sinfulness we are corrupt head to toe, but the word of God is a "Lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." God gives us modern revelation all the time "through his word" not a bunch of warm soft spoken preaching old men professing to speak for God. How do you know you aren't being led astray by these men? How do you know Joe Smith wasn't led astray?
Don't trust feelings every time.A good feeling can come because you really want to believe something.Trust the Bible.Let the Bible be your guide. The Book of Mormon can't be trusted because it's based on a lie. Many of the verses in it were copied verbatim from the Bible and other fiction books("View of the Hebrews" being one. Many names in it came from city names that were within 200 miles of J Smith's home. Do your research. It may just open your eyes to how LDS have been deceived for years.
Joseph Smith as a mayor of the largest city anywhere, shuts down a public nuisance.
Moses is not only a polygamist, but also did capital punishment for gays, adulterers, and disobedient kids.
I mean, if you are going to get excited about what one city did to a lieing newsletter, maybe you should be consistent since you give Moses a pass. I would feel like I was speaking with real people if they only recognized the inconsistency of their position on this...
"Joseph Smith as a mayor of the largest city anywhere, shuts down a public nuisance." You must be kidding right? He sent his hit men out to do his dirty work and at the same time was taking married women as his wives? People wonder why he was killed? I say it was a little to late. I just feel sorry for Emma his wife.
You have a thing for Moses? Can you say a different time and people all together? Joseph Smith was not from that time, plus Moses did get his in the end. Joe just got killed...they are not even in the same galaxy my friend, you cannot compare them. I would not even compare Mother Teresa to Moses.
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Comparing Moses to Joseph Smith would be a GOOD thing to do. Prophets are prophets. Its good to compare them and see if there is a pattern. There is.
God speaks to prophets who in turn then speak to mankind. Pattern.
Well Joseph would fall under Deuteronomy 18:20-22 he was a false prophet. Moses well he was speaking the true words of God.
I know you try and tyr to twist whatever you can to try and show small simularities but still fall short. You do not have to look that hard to prove the Bible true!
I agree with that. If we compare what Moses recorded God saying in Deut. 18:20-22, we can learn that Joseph Smith was NOT a prophet of God.
Joseph Smith made many prophesies in the form of "thus saith the Lord" that did not come to pass, proving that he was NOT speaking on the behalf of God and that he was not trustworthy in anything else he said.
You know what you guys sound like? Taking pride in your dead prophets? Jesus said it best like this:
Luke 3: 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Just substitute Moses for Abraham and you get the same thing, putting trust in the past prophets, and rejecting the current ones. The Pharisees rejected Christ based on this.
You're twisting the new testament to support your conclusions. This is John talking about the coming of Christ and the new and "everlasting covenant" Christ came to fulfill. Not the old law as was at the time of Moses or Abraham. Need to spend less time in the BoM and spend more time studying the Bible.
If you studied the Bible like you imply, you would come to know that the Book of Mormon was prophesied in the Bible. See Isaiah 29. See also Ezekiel 37 for starters. Also know that Amos 3:7 is true and that's why there are STILL prophets, because even AFTER Jesus died, JOHN wrote the Book of Revelation!!!
Wake up man, this proves that prophets are still relevant even AFTER Jesus left the earth. John Wrote REVELATION on the Isle of Patmos about 100 AD.
BOM is not prophesied in the Bible! You would have NEVER came up with that conclusion based on the Bible alone!
You can't see that you only believe that because it has been drilled in your head for ??? years, and with only a couple of OUT-OF-CONTEXT Bible references to "support" it.
Talk about ignorance and closed mindedness. John was not the prophet. He was in exile. And case in point most of the New Testament was written after Christ died. This clearly shows how misguided you are.
The Book of Revelation is one of the most IMPORTANT books in the Bible, and is indeed REVELATION from God, in fact, you won't understand it UNLESS you have the spirit of revelation given to you.
I am not the one that is saying that prophets are no longer needed. It is your kind of christianity that says they are not needed anymore, because Jesus said "IT IS FINISHED."
No, I am SHOWING you that Jesus had the same problems in teaching things to stubborn close minded people, and he was derided and spit upon and persecuted.
Jesus had to deal with people who placed all their trust in dead prophets. But Jesus was the LIVING prophet. Many did not accept Him for that, and so they criticized Him and said something about "WE HAVE ABRAHAM, WHO ARE YOU? FALSE PROPHET!"
But Christ proved himself to be a prophet and the chosen one of God. Joe Smith proved to be a false prohet, seer, translator, and revelator. If all modern day Mormon prophets are true how can you explain the Adam God doctrine Brigham Young taught as doctrine which Spencer W. Kimball threw out years later. If they were truly called of God receiving modern revelation how do you explain that?
I explain it by saying you and others DON'T KNOW what Brigham was teaching, but we do know that what people were SAYING Brigham was teaching was categorically denied as a false doctrine by Spencer Kimball, when he was prophet.
That happens a lot, BTW, anti-mormons misrepresenting what latter day saints actually believe and teach. I am seeing a LOT of that on the internet. That motivates me to do some videos, try and counter the lies.
I once had a trio of Mormon missionaries come visit me. Females actually. They left me a copy of The BoM, & I tried to read it. I really did. It frankly is so silly; so obviously fake; w/ such wooden, ersatz imitation of King James English. I just couldn't force myself to read it. There are so many real books out there to read, & life is so short. I have no time to waste on The BoM.
Joey's not the only one who can write sacred ramblings:
And it came to pass, that whilst Nephi was crossing the great waters upon his twin engine barge, rated at two hundred curelom-power, suddenly upon him came a great and tumultuous pain. He hurriedly ran toward the blessed commode and relieved his bowels of the great pain. After wiping his bottom with some golden plates and peering into the holy potty, he commented "Wow. Looketh at the size of that omiolo"
Thou shalt prove thine diligence in thine lying...and then ye can broadcast it on YeTube, where thou canst broadcast thyself...if thou hast a burning in the britches, layest off the mexican food...enough of that...if you get a burning in the bosom, grab some Tums...
The racketeering enterprise, corrupt, Mormon "church" and their leaders need to be banned by legislation (Congress/Senate and signed by a President) , thier Utah buildings dismantled and there churches across this nation Auctioned on ebay and/or sold to Bible believing people for proper Godly use and spreading of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. This racketeering cult is also a severely corrupt base/think tank for racketeering polititians both Democrate and Republican. That is my view :0) thx
This is how it will end. Different story than your scenario:
Dan. 2: 45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands,
D&C 65:2 The keys of the kingdom of God are committed unto man on the earth, and from thence shall the gospel roll forth unto the ends of the earth, as the stone which is cut out of the mountain without hands shall roll forth, until it has filled the whole earth.
"Mormonanswer" I didnt write to you, dont know why you are sending me Doctrines of the devil but I really dont want them. I have seen an enormous amount of malicious destruction on my life by a pathetic, hypocrite, sick, senseless, insane, schizo, demonic Mormon named Robert Mallder from Dubuque. You need to go read my comments on the "Handiman" site and realize what a group of Mormons have perpetrated upon me.
Not only was J. Smith trying to shut down the free press in Nauvoo, he was trying to raise army to rival the standing U.S. regular army. The number of troops in his Nauvoo "militia" was actually close to the total U.S. Army. I doubt if his militia could have faired well against a properly trained brigade, but this shows where Smith's head was. Had Smith not been killed when he was, I could easily imagine a Waco or Jones Town like scenario playing out. The psychology of a man in Smiths position.

Before the Governor could question the prisoner (Smith), he (Smith) was killed, for his treason.
orlovna2 1 year ago
@orlovna2 any student of laws knows that destroying a press isnt treason. Seeing as to the number of mormons killed because of papers like the nauvoo expositor, i think the prophet was right in destroying it. When the mob attacked the prophet, the soldier's guns were empty, and after making a sham battle in which no-one was injured, the soldiers helped kill the smiths. Govenor Ford ordered, and was guilty of, the murder of the prophet. Learn your history.

You said it right there, you CULTIST TURKEY!
"Building up a Society" is also a function of a CULT: giving them "mormon CULTure".
orlovna2 1 year ago

Are you the judge or is God?
perdicious 2 years ago
@perdicious: Yeah, & why are everyone so down on Mussollini? After all, he made the trains run on time.
machiavelli himself talked about this in The Prince. A leader should do some good things, especially he should be seen to do good things. This is especially true if he wishes to do bad things. The worse he wishes to do, the better the things he should make a show doing in public. It is a good way to dupe the willfully gullible. You have said it, you choose not to believe it.

@VictorLepanto I have experienced it, and I see the Mormon church doing nothing but positive hepful things for people all over this world.
Your comparison to Mussolini was way off.
perdicious 1 year ago
@perdicious: It is your argument I am attacking. The good he supposedly did doesn't mitigate the bad he did, for he did very bad things. W/ the Nauvoo Legion business & the Danites & the very strong evidence connecting him to assassinations, & the public threats of violence; Smith was a very bad man. Nauvoo was classic Waco, Jonestown scenario in the making. It is only very fortunate for us that he was arrested & the potential for violence was mitigated.
VictorLepanto 1 year ago

I hope one day you wake up and realize you've wasted time shrieking about how "bad" this church is.. when you could have spent that time actually doing something productive and helpful for other people.

But the BIBLE SAYS that THUS SAITH THE LORD, David's wiveS were given to him.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
Back to the point of this clip. Joseph Smith wasn't a martyr like Mormon lore likes to proclaim so as to bolster this false prophet and false scripture. He committed a crime as Shawn says. Now the methodology of justice was rushed a bit by the mob rather than going to trial, but Joe Smith did not get shot because of his faith. He tried to take away freedom of speech because it would in fact incriminate him and reveal truth.
praestant8 2 years ago 3
As a good mormon person you will hearken unto the words of men, your so called prophet, rather than the word of God. And the hierarchy of mormon leadership is an insult to the true disciples and apostles of christ. They proclaimed of christ because they saw him and heard his words. Mormon leadership is a mockery to those that actually knew Christ. Not one of those Mormon men that call themselves the 12 have seen the resurrected Christ, NOT ONE!
praestant8 2 years ago
Don't try to SPIN this into me trusting in man. I have stated REPEATEDLY that I have placed my trust in God, and I test things said by prophets NOT by looking at past scripture, but by what I feel in my HEART and by the Gift of the Holy Ghost. That is the only SURE way to know anything. Trust in man? Not me. You...
Here's how I do it:
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
Yes
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
I don't have to spin anything. Unless you don't sustain Thomas S. Monson and others as "prophet, seer, and revelator." And thank you for proving my point. "Feelings" i.e. emotions are not the Spirit of God. But that isn't something you are able to understand. While a member I would have the same sensation at times when "feeling the spirit" as I would listening to Rachmaninov or just before a panic attack. Perhaps those were the spirit proclaiming truth?
praestant8 2 years ago
only one question? What do you do with the facts that disagree with your feelings.. Feelings can be manipulated. But facts are facts.. Its just the way it is.
justcary 2 years ago 3
This comment has received too many negative votes show
you trust in the arm of flesh.
It means answers to prayers, Holy Ghost, witnesses, burning in bosom.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
Your totally wrong, I totally believe in a personal relationship with Christ. And the witness of Holy Spirit.
Odd thing is my witness has always agreed with the bible.. Mormonism doesn't.. Since many religions base things on feelings to a degree it only proves that feelings can and are manipulated. So what's left? Nothing but facts.. If your feelings and the facts don't add up, someones feelings are definitely wrong.

@praestant8

We don't need to say anything further than Joe Smith's book of Abraham to claim he was a fraud.
praestant8 2 years ago
Such close-mindedness.
That's NOT faith.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
But the evidence that exists from Bible history supports the faith. There is NO evidence from BoM history. And for the record they did see God in the pillar of fire and as a cloud by day. But if you read the Bible you would already know that. They didn't believe in some tingly feeling magical mumbo jumbo. That's not to say there weren't people who still argued against God just like Mormons do. Having been Mormon I know the only one who may be closed minded is another Mormon.
praestant8 2 years ago
In Moses' day, there was no evidence for what Moses taught.
Fire will come down from heaven soon, by the power of the DEVIL. If you think seeing miracles proves something is of God, then read this:
Rev. 19: 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Will you follow??
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
The fact that you say you were a mormon before certainly gives you NO CLOUT to trump a mormon's comments by suggesting that you already know what we know, as if to have a leg up or something... and suggesting that its only a matter of time before we come your way on it... No...
All it means is that you never were converted in the first place. People that are converted DO NOT fall away:
Alma 23: 6 as many as believed and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
You have got to be kidding me!! I DO know what you know as a Mormon I WAS ONE! I stupidly believed in it! That is the most redicuouls thing I've ever heard! I served a mission and went to the temple. I read the same books and church periodicals listened to the same General Conference. You can't tell me I have no basis to comment from other than that I have now found the truth in the true word of God and not Joe Smith's fairy tale.
praestant8 2 years ago
I don't believe in the BOM so that won't work with me. But thank you for proving my point yet again. Since finding the true Christ and word of God I have not fallen away. And praise be to God Mormonism didn't take my soul away. But I will say there sure are a bunch of smart cookies in the Mormon church. Shame that so many smart people have been fooled. Thankfully God has been with me and changed my heart and led me away from the bondage of Mormonism.
praestant8 2 years ago
@mormonanswerman - I will take the physical proof that the Bible exists and is the word of God over your feelings the BoM is scriputure any day of the week. The bible tells us our hearts and feelings are corrupt and cannot be trusted (Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 1:23-26,1 Timothy 6:5 etc.). This is why the Mormon methodology of feeling the spirit is flawed. If you put your heart and full self in Christ you will not be led astray, Jesus was the last prophet priest and king, not Joe Smith.
praestant8 2 years ago
Well if that's the message you are interpreting from the Bible, that we can never enjoy the gift of revelation because some people's hearts are corrupt, I feel sorry for that position. What a position of sadness and hopeless despair, to think that you can never trust in a feeling God gives you. What hopeless doubt and lack of trust in God.
...but you trust your brain, don't you?
Where in the Bible does it say "trust your brain?" over your heart?
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
What I am saying is that we can't trust "feelings" as a measure of spiritual truth. That's what the scripture is talking about. By our sinfulness we are corrupt head to toe, but the word of God is a "Lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." God gives us modern revelation all the time "through his word" not a bunch of warm soft spoken preaching old men professing to speak for God. How do you know you aren't being led astray by these men? How do you know Joe Smith wasn't led astray?
praestant8 2 years ago 7
Don't trust feelings every time.A good feeling can come because you really want to believe something.Trust the Bible.Let the Bible be your guide. The Book of Mormon can't be trusted because it's based on a lie. Many of the verses in it were copied verbatim from the Bible and other fiction books("View of the Hebrews" being one. Many names in it came from city names that were within 200 miles of J Smith's home. Do your research. It may just open your eyes to how LDS have been deceived for years.

How come MOSES GET'S a PASS?
Joseph Smith as a mayor of the largest city anywhere, shuts down a public nuisance.
Moses is not only a polygamist, but also did capital punishment for gays, adulterers, and disobedient kids.
I mean, if you are going to get excited about what one city did to a lieing newsletter, maybe you should be consistent since you give Moses a pass. I would feel like I was speaking with real people if they only recognized the inconsistency of their position on this...

Exodus314IAM 2 years ago 5
RE to mormonanswerman
I agree with that. If we compare what Moses recorded God saying in Deut. 18:20-22, we can learn that Joseph Smith was NOT a prophet of God.
Joseph Smith made many prophesies in the form of "thus saith the Lord" that did not come to pass, proving that he was NOT speaking on the behalf of God and that he was not trustworthy in anything else he said.
Does this not make you feel betrayed?
Dhumm81 2 years ago 2
You know what you guys sound like? Taking pride in your dead prophets? Jesus said it best like this:
Luke 3: 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Just substitute Moses for Abraham and you get the same thing, putting trust in the past prophets, and rejecting the current ones. The Pharisees rejected Christ based on this.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
Typical way of avoiding the issue at hand.
You have no interest in the truth.
Dhumm81 2 years ago 2
You're twisting the new testament to support your conclusions. This is John talking about the coming of Christ and the new and "everlasting covenant" Christ came to fulfill. Not the old law as was at the time of Moses or Abraham. Need to spend less time in the BoM and spend more time studying the Bible.
praestant8 2 years ago 2
If you studied the Bible like you imply, you would come to know that the Book of Mormon was prophesied in the Bible. See Isaiah 29. See also Ezekiel 37 for starters. Also know that Amos 3:7 is true and that's why there are STILL prophets, because even AFTER Jesus died, JOHN wrote the Book of Revelation!!!
Wake up man, this proves that prophets are still relevant even AFTER Jesus left the earth. John Wrote REVELATION on the Isle of Patmos about 100 AD.
Ponder that.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
BOM is not prophesied in the Bible! You would have NEVER came up with that conclusion based on the Bible alone!
You can't see that you only believe that because it has been drilled in your head for ??? years, and with only a couple of OUT-OF-CONTEXT Bible references to "support" it.
Does it hurt for thee to kick against the pricks?
Dhumm81 2 years ago
Talk about ignorance and closed mindedness. John was not the prophet. He was in exile. And case in point most of the New Testament was written after Christ died. This clearly shows how misguided you are.
praestant8 2 years ago
John was not the prophet???
and you call ME close minded? Misguided??
The Book of Revelation is one of the most IMPORTANT books in the Bible, and is indeed REVELATION from God, in fact, you won't understand it UNLESS you have the spirit of revelation given to you.
I am not the one that is saying that prophets are no longer needed. It is your kind of christianity that says they are not needed anymore, because Jesus said "IT IS FINISHED."
But it WASN'T, was it?
Amos 3:7 applies, STILL.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
No, I am SHOWING you that Jesus had the same problems in teaching things to stubborn close minded people, and he was derided and spit upon and persecuted.
Jesus had to deal with people who placed all their trust in dead prophets. But Jesus was the LIVING prophet. Many did not accept Him for that, and so they criticized Him and said something about "WE HAVE ABRAHAM, WHO ARE YOU? FALSE PROPHET!"
They were so close minded, and so are you.
mormonanswerman 2 years ago
But Christ proved himself to be a prophet and the chosen one of God. Joe Smith proved to be a false prohet, seer, translator, and revelator. If all modern day Mormon prophets are true how can you explain the Adam God doctrine Brigham Young taught as doctrine which Spencer W. Kimball threw out years later. If they were truly called of God receiving modern revelation how do you explain that?
praestant8 2 years ago 2
I explain it by saying you and others DON'T KNOW what Brigham was teaching, but we do know that what people were SAYING Brigham was teaching was categorically denied as a false doctrine by Spencer Kimball, when he was prophet.
That happens a lot, BTW, anti-mormons misrepresenting what latter day saints actually believe and teach. I am seeing a LOT of that on the internet. That motivates me to do some videos, try and counter the lies.
