I hate to tell you this miss "rainbow pin" wearer, the Bible is very clear on several places which state how wrong it is to God being a homo. It is in the same category as being a murderer and a thief... There is NO place in any real Christian church for homosexuals. As a human being it's ok to feel bad for people to be mistreated for any given reason but as a God follower there is no changing their fate... THEY WILL BURN... Salvation is personal, and there is nothing you can do for them.
As a gay FtM who is a Catholic, thank you and may God bless you ma'am. You have given me hope. Both of my grandmothers are in Heaven, as is my dad....I never had the chance to come out to them....my mom refuses to support me.....
The GLBT community needs more religious people, especially Christians, to show them they are just as loved as their heterosexual brothers and sisters.
The only way you can hate another person is to dehumanize them by making them an object. It is very difficult to hate someone when you step outside your prejudices, outside of your narrow mind and see them as human beings, see their humanity.
The reason why the bishop refused communion was his belief that homosexuality is "objectively disordered," as described in the Church's catechism (CCC 2358). Rome must change the Catechism before bishops will change their ways. Let us all march on the Vatican to demand change!
@Lightpro1 Has nothing to do with that. Most catholics don't even read the Bible. The Bible is clear... God hates homosexuals as much as any other serious criminal. Read the Bible which is the thruth... I was going to give some Bible references but the list is so big that you should do your own research!!
@cdhrusso72 The Bible does not say "God hates Homosexuals." Stop spreading lies! Jesus, in all his verses on sin and morality, did not mention the issue of homosexuality. I think this speaks volumes on God's acceptance of His creation.
@Lightpro1 You are wrong, it does and clearly. You should start reading the book... The bible may not say homosexuals because that exact word may not excisted thousands of years ago but it's clear when it condems what homosexuals are... In the same category as seriors siners like murderers and such!! You can lie to yourself all you want but it you believe in heaven and hell then believe, the wicked and their followers, and the false profets will burn...
It's well established that I'm Catholic *and* gay, so I want to weigh in on this. I'd also like to establish that as a gay man, I resent being lumped into a single category (LGBT) by "activists." Transgendered people make an explicit choice because they're psychologically disordered. That is a choice whereas straight up homosexuality is not. With that said...
It's the official position of the RC Church to encourage gays and lesbians to find Grace through the sacraments. Furthermore, nowhere in
Usually you hear only bad things about the Christian opinion of LGBTs, and as a Christian, it is very hard to fight such hateful and ignorant falsely conceived beliefs. Thank you for making it so very clear that God is LOVE above anything else. <3
This is how change really takes place. Thank you for standing up for LGBT people. You are a wonderful ally. Catholic social teaching provides wonderful lessons for those who wish to learn...
IF YOU have time, see the other video posted here. It was part of a TV interview in the Summer of 2010 explaining the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center outreach to LGBT youth... It explains our involvment with the kids....Thanks.
Thank you so much for your kind and inspiring words! They are appreciated so much and I have the highest respect for your message of hope, love and human kindness. Once again a very big thank you, to me you are an angel!!!
You are a wonderful person that loves other people, and I would be proud as a gay man to call you a friend. There is a facebook group called Teens In Need, that I founded a few months ago, as a peer support/group chat for LGBTQ teens in need of love and support that are thinking of suicide, or having trouble with their family or friends with coming out. Our children need love and support, not condemnation, and if the church won't someday see that, they will lose these kids. Thank you for this!
From someone who has stayed away from church because of anger and frustration with the messages of intolerance we've been receiving - you give me hope and courage to keep working within the Church for change. Thank you!
We need more people like you. I am Catholic, bisexual, and in a lesbian relationship with another bisexual Catholic. I love my faith and wouldn't leave just because of the way I choose to live my life. Thank you so much for the support. *high fives*
Thank you for speaking up for our children, all of them. The hierarchy of your church only seems capable of hate. They may not pull the trigger, twist the knife or swing the bat, but they are just as guilty as those who do because they add fuel to the fire and fan the flames with their comments and their lies. Why do most Catholics sit back and do nothing? J’accuse.
I am a gay teen who loves the Catholic Church, but fears what it may do to us in the future. Seeing you and hearing you really touches me and other lgbt members so much. I feel with more people as strong, willing, and loving as you, the Catholic Church's ministry will be convinced to accept and love everyone for who they are without judgement. I no longer have any desire to leave my church. Thank you so much! You have made a major difference, at least for me!
I proudly wear a rainbow ribbon during Advent to show my love for ALL God's children regardless of their sexual orientation. Nowhere in the Gospels can we find Jesus teaching us to hate anybody. And yes I believe every form of discrimination is an abomination to God, especially against the youngsters that are dearest to Jesus' heart! God bless your work, my sister!
It's unfortunate that Christians allow fanatic christianists to speak for those who actually attempt to conceive their live as an emulation of Christ.
Thank you for demonstrating the enormous gulf between the teachings of Christ and the political tool which is organized religion in America. It's time for responsible American Catholics to cut ties to the Vatican.
I am moved by your words and the compassion I feel in them, but years of hearing the hate streaming from churches makes me suspicious. Are your words along the lines of "hate the sin, love the sinner?" Is your compassion conditional? Do you understand that the love bewteen 2 women or 2 men is as sacred as the love between a man and a woman?
Ma'am, you are one of the greatest examples of living the teachings of Christ I have ever seen. I wish the vast majority of "Christians" would follow your example. You are awesome. May God bless you, and yours, now and always.
I am in Canada... where the country has recognized the rights of LGBT people WAAAAY before the Catholic Church. I was also a Catholic by birth, tradition... and heritage. And was even in the Trappists. But I am now with the Anglican Church of Canada. The RC Church offered SOOO much hope and promise with Vat II, then the spirit of John XXII was killed by all the following popes and cardinals, especially the present --- who was the henchman during the reign of JPII. Bless this woman and her messag
"· I believe that wearing it reminds those who would deny my child a place at His table that they don't own the guest list."
I love that part the most. Not enough people are willing to accept that they might have an idea who and what God loves, but they don't know everything about who and what he loves. I've been saying that for years. Bless you for helping to show gay folks that there is a place in God's heart for them.
Thank you - It is heartening to hear true Christians (the ones who truly follow Christ's path of love and acceptance, and of non-judgementalism) speak up! America needs more like you!
Thanks for watching, now please,... get a rainbow ribbon or pin and wear it each Sunday in Advent. Equally Blessed is suggesting this as a national campaign... to help give hope ot our kids. Rainbow Ribbons... Welcome churches.
I love you! Thank you for speaking out and being such a strong Catholic woman. The church certainly needs people like you. I still want to cook a bit of something and come to ya'lls pot luck.

Christ's message was one of love - not hate, not bigotry.
As we look at these Bishops - "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
Thank you for all that you do for LGBT youth and for simply doing what any mother would do for her child - love them unconditionally and protect them.
Bless you,
