@BigNickGK Most people nowadays will have a computer that meets the requirements for this game, it's not a terribly intensive game. They want PC gamers to have access to the game, not have Crysis settings. Having it on 360 would be a terrible move, because of Microsoft being assholes about updates.
Not horrendously surprised if it really does stay PC only..
Microsoft are complete demons when it comes to running MMO's on the XBox series (must use gamertags, approval for every patch, rarely cross-platform..), and security scares aside, the PS3 isn't the easiest machine to develop for.
Taking that into account, and the fact that the PC customer base has a tendency to be a more reliable source of income when it comes to the MMORPG genre.. it might well just not seem worth the risk.

I have been playing PS since it was on sega genesis and picked it up to PSO when it hit DC. I cannot wait for PSO2 to hit. I really hope they keep the MAGs they had in PSO. For Phantasy Star, I'd buy a friggin PS3 and hook it up to a 3DS linked to a damned Saturn through the headphone jack just to watch the opening.

PSO on GAMECUBE was such a huge part of mine and my friends' childhood (we're all 21 now). Its so amazing. We still get drunk and play sometimes to this day...lol. But I'm mainly playing PSU for now. Its impressive. Theres good and bad changes. But I agree, bringing it back to Ragol or just continuing off PSO at all is gonna be a great thing.
You know, PSU: AotI grew on me after awhile. But nothing excuses limited ammunition for guns, lack of telepipes, and magic tied to weapons. This game looks like it'll have at least a few of the things that made PSU horrible.

As I see it, the main problems relating to platform with PSU - and PSO as well, stemmed from the fact that SEGA chose to support it on too many of them, meaning that: a) Large chunks of development time had to be wasted porting the game to one platform or another; and b) The community had to be split amongst several servers, or in the case of PS2, had restricted content due to lack of resources.
Console gamers want in on the fun too, pso wouldnt have half the fanbase it does today if it had never made it to consoles. PSO was the world's first console mmo, and as far as I'm concerned it's still the world's best console mmo LOL.
There has been some shitty mmos ported to consoles over the years, PSU and FF11 come to mind.
From what I've read about the development of PSU, is wasn't ported to consoles. It was ported to PC and Xbox360, after having been originally developed for the PS2. If Sega were to port a stripped version of PSO2 from PC to modern gen consoles, I'd be fine with that. But I'd really hate to see yet another potentially good game get hamstrung by the substandard hardware which characterises today's console market.
@sasukekingdomhearts PSU was a great game! But then again, I've never played the original PS games, so I am glad I played PSU first, otherwise, I might've been disappointed in the game.
