hey man what would you suggest for prevention methods for a student who is sitting at a school desk for 6 hours a day every day? because recently i have been getting these pains and im going to try to invest in that foam roll but is there anything you can suggest like sitting positions?
can u just use like a rolled up towel? i live in london so... lol. i know i can find it in sports stores and stuff but if you can use an alternative... :)
hey i just want to let everyone know.. that i figured this out all by myself.. u dnt have to by it just position ur head in its right place.."back and on the spine" also with shoulders back.. u dnt need to buy that.. if u have any questions contact me..
@rawfflecakes u dnt need to buy that.. i will make a video showing how u should position ur head.. it helps to look at the side of the structure of the skeleton. tilt ur head all the way back and while leaveing it in that place just look forward and straight .. it may hurt or u may feel some pain... but it will go away after a few days.. also u have to keep good posture all the time.. it really helps.. when i found this out my breathing became better.,. i didnt even no there was a problem
I cut up my husbands foam pipe lagging lol, my upper back gets very painful after a few hours at my desk, but looking at you tube videos has been more useful than going to my doctor who just said "strengthen your back" .
So I sit at my desk with the roller behind me and move to and fro as Im working its made a real big difference already, I've also stopped using a deep 'memory foam' pillow in bed,as this was lifting my head up way too high. stretching my pectoralis muscles is helping too.thanks
I spend 7 hrs at a computer in the doc production dept of a global law firm. We serve all offices, worldwide. It's very busy & I can't leave the desk. This job is killing my back. It hurts like hell just to get up and take a few steps. I wish I could take a few minutes and lie down on a foam roll every hour or so, but that's just not possible in that environment. Any alternative solutions?
Also, does Desk Turtle Syndrome hurt the hips? The right hip and the lumbar region are extremely painful.
i have two herniated discs due to being a desk turtle LOL hurts my back so much..I couldnt possibly get down onto one of those foam rolls the way I feel these days so I had my doctor order me a special back brace for lumbar support..It helped ALOT!
i was/am a desk turtle for that last 4 years of my life. ive been consciously correcting my posture for about five months and i still dont have very good posture. how long does it ussually take to correct severe desk turtle itis
Hey, is it okay to use dumbells with the foam roll, and possibly work on my chest as I correct my posture? ( this is a serious question, I'm not trying to sound like a muscle-head).... Thanks

@JohnBeakerman You'd probably roll off, and I doubt you could fall asleep on it.

@Vittoria10538 Yup, Bad posture can hurt all major joints - back, hips, knees, neck, even shoulders.
I have to sit even more at the computer, so I should know.
Maybe you will have to accept that your job is crippling your body for life?

You could also roll up a few towels to the diameter/measurements Kevin suggested.

How do people cope with sitting hunched over to look at a computer? I can't do it for even 5 minutes without feeling an incredible urge to stretch
Tornerose83 3 years ago
yea, luckily this video was only 3.5 minutes long...

IS it even possible to sit at your desk looking at something down below w/o becoming a "desk turtle"?
