  • Your tutorials are always great. Straight to the point, very useful and simple to understand. Thanks!

  • Calvin, you're my hero dude.........How do I pull this off with a blonde.........I'm shooting on a white cyc wall........I can lighten or darken it as needed!

    Billy Raayn

  • Ich finde es ist kein Nachteil dass du in Englisch erklären, weil es immer noch super verständlich ist. Deine Toutorials sind der Hammer , mach weiter so!

  • you fucking german... you RULE...!!

    thank you.

  • Lapping up the English tuts, keep them coming Calvin!

  • Calvin, please please please, more english tutorials. Love your work !

  • Nice tricks !

I'm wondering if you have a video around aligning 2 fotos. the reason is that I pictures my 1 year old sun and his mam on a high mountain. I want to paint away my wife, so that it appears that he stands alone on a mountain. I have a picture with my wife and kid and another without them. with the same background. but I had no tripod, so not fully aligned

  • Dein englisch is echt super.. ;D

  • whoops - done! XD

thanks for this little tip, although it's very very limited, the main problem isn't the colors of the images, it's the indifference and the complexity of backgrounds... so it's rarely usable for non-studio shots :( but THEN it's great! :)

  • yes 9 seconds :)

  • Thank you, I have been looking for a way to do this for a long time. Keep on teaching!

  • Hello Calvin! I've only discovered you online tonight, but you make me want to learn German. :) Thanks for this amazing tip. I'm stunned at how easy this is. I just don't try to do this because I couldn't figure out how NOT to lose hairs. Now I can make it work thanks to you.

  • hey coole sache calvin!

  • Awesome tutorial.Very simple and powerful technique

  • Calvin, once again you have taught me something that I can apply in my business right away. I already knew about the Multiply blend mode for compositing backgrounds (I use it extensively for my white seamless stuff). However, I didn't realize that I could make my life much easier by shooting on gray instead. Thanks!

  • WOW WOW WOW

    THANK YOU

  • Calvin, thank you for sharing these great tips! I found your work from Scott Kelby's blog and truly enjoyed your post! Your images are great and I truly appreciate your generous posts here!

  • Nice one. Love these videos :-)

  • Thanks Calvin. Keep the videos coming.

  • Nice work

  • I am glad that this does not work on all color hairs becuase I would have spent too much time working on channels. Thanks for the vid.

  • Finally someone who uses a brain. I'm teaching people for years now that it's often NOT needed to "Remove" a background. We both have seen and done those facy techniques to remove a background and basically all fail when it comes to removing hair, so it's nice to see that someone actually picks up a technique that I've been trying to promote for a while now, just to remind people that you have to be flexible with your thought process.

  • Even with backgrounds that are not plain white or blue, you will see advantages by using this techniquues combined with the more common techniques.
