It refers to the dark side of Subcon from Super Mario Bros. 2 (US). In that game, there were some portals you could open. Once you get in, the colors would be all weird, and once you collected its rewards, you were supposed to get out ASAP.
This was the first game where Luigi was given an appearance and personality distinct from Mario, so it's significant for Luigi.
It's probably SSBB's take on this. That last response was my best guess as to where this came form, since neither the Dojo nor the Final Smash Trophy explains its context.
I'm 95% sure it refers to the dark side of Subcon, since it's the only "negative" thing related to Luigi I know.
Actually Luigi's FS comes from the dark side of being in Mario's Shadow All this time.Personally I think Luigi is the better of the Mario Bros.Luigi Rocks!Kirby Rules! But Ike is better!
The only ones that I did are the ones performed by Player 1 without the numbers above the damage percentages. That is, they are: Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Toon Link, Samus, Pit, R.O.B., King Dedede, Olimar, Captain Falcon, Pokémon Trainer, Jigglypuff, Ness, and Mr. Game & Watch. For the most part, these are Final Smashes either done by characters people rarely play as or the ones that are hard to understand.
I always pick Random, however, so I know at least a bit about all of the characters.
I am best with Sonic, I've have only played a bit with my friend that has it and i really don't care who I play with , so i play random. I know i am best with him, because he is the only character I beat him with. BTW Sonic is my 7th favorite character, yep i have a list.
That'd be a great way to get hidden characters, as you'll be given proper introductions to them. I started with the Subspace Emissary because I'm very interested in the personalities of these guys, especially the ones who never got much of a chance to show how they're like, like Mr. Game & Watch.
Sonic can't KO on contact, though when people get hit, they always get sent flying. Like Pikachu's Final Smash, his is dependent on how fast he collides with the others.
I've unlocked about half of the characters now. Played the SSE up until the stage with Marth, Ike & Meta Knight, and unlocked Ness, Luigi, Falco, Snake, Captain Falcon and Ganondorf by other means.
Samus's Final Smash is definately one of the, if not THE best. If you hit all three enemies with it, it'll earn you three points. In the one shown here, though, Ike wasn't killed due to a stupid new addition in Brawl's mechanics.
After DK's Final Smash, "Kongo Beat", a fully charged Giant Punch can now be used, since he was charging it during the FS. Pikachu's Volt Tackle I also enjoyed, and the same with Aura Storm from Lucario and Pokémon trainer triple finish. And cook Kirby, I love that too. Best results when Kirby cooks three opponents, but still good with only one. Link (both Twilight and Toon forms), and both Fire Emblem (Marth, Ike) are close-range but super power, a small stage being more likely to hit those FS.
Even though Kirby gets the Final Smash a lot of the time, I couldn't find one where he gets all three opponents and KOs at least one. I picked a one-on-one for the close-up of Cook Kirby.
I didn't know the Kongo Beat charges the Giant Punch. That explains why DK always looked strange after he finishes.
Each swordfighter except Metaknight have a pretty far range but only work on people at the exact same height as they are. Large stages can work, but they have to be flat.
The only one that disappointed me was Diddy Kong's - I probably could've sent you some better footage than that - I think I have one where I kill all 3 opponents. But oh well - it's a great video.
lol Dedede got the kill against Wario in Lucas' FS because he touched him last. And lol at Mr. Game and Watch when he finished his FS. First thing he did. CHAIR. Overhazard, you got some mighty fine vids. keep em comin
I really LOL'ed at Link's FS. He doesn't kill Wario, who Link has been cutting to ribbons, but he does kill the Meta Knight who is just standing there.
If you look even more carefully, he KOs both Metaknights, not just the one grabbing onto the ledge to defend himself.
A lot of people who don't play with items will tend to grab onto ledges as a sort of defense against Final Smashes, though nearly all Final Smashes can break right through that anyway.
they are both mindgames to confuse another player. Dash dancing is dashing one way, then dashing the other way quickly, then going back and dashing the other way, but you must do it fast. fox trotting is when you start the dashing animation, then stop, then start again, then stop.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense, i'm explaining this in the best terms i can.
You also have to be in midair when Olimar starts his Final Smash in order to do that. Olimar paralyzes everybody who's on the ground as soon as the End of Day begins.
Jigglypuff, DK, Pit, and ROB all have great potential in their Final Smashes. However, all of them require that you use them correctly, or else they won't accomplish much. You can see in my video that all of them KOed all of the other players except Donkey Kong's, and even then he KOed 2 of the 3 others and brought Diddy from 34% to 94%.
All of those final Smashes are great. In fact, those are some of the better ones in the game! Pit's is similar to DeDeDe and Ness/Lucas, but it's more deadly because Pit can move whiel doing it! Think of the setups! DK is a monster when you get the beat right, and ROB's is ridiculous... All of them are impressive Edgeguarding.... PLus use Jigglypuffs on a small stage = Good game.
Yeah, you might notice that DK's is the only on played against three computer players. I was so sick of waiting for someone to use it perfectly that I set up a match just so he could use those bongos. Most of the time, people just stand back and watch DK rock back and forth.
Pit can move during his Final Smash, but it's balanced by how weak those Centurions actually are. They were toned down a great deal since E for All and World Hobby Fair 2008.
I think the worst final smashed are jigglyPuff's, DK's and Pit's. I think the best are Sonic's,Zelda/Sheik's and Link or Tooon Link cuz they're like 1 hit KO
Personally, I think that Jigglypuff's and DK's Final Smashes could be best used for edgeguarding purposes (and could very well KO up to 3 opponents), though DK's requires some skill in that you have to beat to the rhythm of the music (which should be about 1/2 of a second per beat). If you have trouble figuring out when to press the button at the right time for DK's Final Smash, then listen to the beat in this video. It should tell you when to press that button.
The best final Smashes in the game are: All Three Landmasters (Guareenteed at least 3 KOs in a 1 v 1, let alone a free for all), followd by Captain Falcon, Marth, and Zelda/Shiek, which will almost always guareentee 1 KO.
Not really. I've managed to avoid getting KOed by a Landmaster many times. The trick is to lure the Landmaster user to somebody else or find a way to get the other two people on one side of the stage so the Landmaster user goes after them. The Bunny Hood also makes for a good way to buy time until it runs out.
Capt. Falcon, Marth, and Zelda/Sheik can all easily miss with their Final Smashes. They're powerful, but their downside is that they can miss in the hands of an impatient player.
Let me rephrase then: These are the best final smashes in the hands of a skilled player.

I agree with you 100%, but what makes them better than the other final smashes;how Easier they are to use. Press a button, boom insta-KO. Alot of Final Smashes, don't work that easy or are easily evaded, even stuff like Mario Finale or Triple Finish. (Which can be evaded with the right DI.)

Capt. Falcon, Marth, and Zelda/Sheik can all easily miss with their Final Smashes. They're powerful, but their downside is that they can miss in the hands of an impatient player.
Overhazard 3 years ago
Let me rephrase then: These are the best final smashes in the hands of a skilled player.
In a Free for All, You can avoid the Landmaster, sure, but using your method it will still rack up at least 2 other KOs Also, your strategy doesn't really work on small stages, because the landmaster can easily make up the groud quickly. E
Captain Falcon Marth and Zelda/Shiek can all combo into their Final Smashes, especially Marth. A skilled player will get that KO, but i agree, an Impatient one won't.

Any Final Smash will be devastating in the hands of a skilled player, even stuff like the Iceberg or PK Starstorm. The Landmaster, however, is powerful AND it's easy to use. I would say there are more powerful Final Smashes out there than the Landmaster, such as Giga Bowser and the Rocketbarrel Barrage, but they're a lot harder to get to work right than the Landmaster.
(By the way, you spelled Sheik's name wrong.)
