I am of the opinion that we shud get out of Africa & places like Haiti entirely. I don't think that any of the wests efforts no matter how well-intentioned or otherwise are helpful.
Gov't aid, NGOs, missionary groups all shud go.Things might get very bad 4 awhile, but eventually the solutions that do result will be African solutions for better or worse. If we wish to do business with Africa it shud be on their terms, not ours. No more meddling, we shud mind our own business.

Haiti has 70% unemployment, no pool of skilled labour, & 50% illiteracy. This creates a tremendous drag on the economy. It's like three drowning men trying to pull themselves out of the water with 7 men hanging on to them. Eventually all will go down. It seems so many people in Africa are looking for the 'bad' guy in order to explain why things are going off the rails. The west seems to be the most convenient whipping boy. However, like Pogo said, "We have met the enemy and he is us."
