can you use any VST or sound kits from logic 9 or pro tools or any DAW in general with the guitar? i love hip hop and rock so you can imagine how helpful this would be since I'm not THAT good on keyboard as i am guitar....thanks
I've been trying to use Logic synths with a midi guitar, but hammer-ons don't seem to track. Instead, the previous note holds on. The GR-33 I'm running through doesn't have any problem with tracking hammer-ons when I'm using its internal sounds, so I figure it must be Logic. Do you have any advice?
@merdenoms74 Probably because controller is sending pitch bend for h/o, but for this to work pitch bend range setup for guitar and Logic synth need to be same. Chances are your GR33 sends a pitch bend range RPN, but Logic ignores this (unfortunately). A "proper synth" e.g. any Korg this would just work.
@unmanoide I'm uploading a new series of videos explaining what's going on, they should be uploaded within a few hours. Feel free to watch them and drill me on what I failed to talk about, then I'll post video responses.
hahah there are so many haters in the comments. i liked this video because it showed me exactly what the title promised me. if you haters want to see guitar chops, go youtube SRV.
nice setup u got. after watching ur vid and a couple others, i'm very interested in getting one. does it use a midi out or USB? how do u compare the gk3 with the other midi guitar controller in the market? u no any artists that use midi guitars? daft punk maybe?
@novanine9 It would be hard, if not impossible, to play sampled guitar notes and have them sound like an actual guitar in Ableton/Logic, but maybe not on a VG99. If you're crafty though you'd probably be able to mimic it fairly well, you might need a few other MIDI controllers like a wah foot-pedal that transmits treadle information from 0-127, and map it to an ADSR envelope filter or pitch-shift parameter for slides/bends, and a trem VST for vibrato... All it comes down to is being crafty. :P
@fixthathummingnoise there wasn't really any point to the vid other than just to test the sounds i could get. This is literally the first time I hooked up the guitar to midi, so it's gonna be a little boring. and loud apparently ;)
you can run midi out and usb to the computer and sound module for the GI-20, i just got one yesterday its awesome! obv the gr-20 doesnt have USB but im pretty sure you can run the midi out of that into a MIDI/USB interface, maybe post on the roland forum?

If you're doing this from logic, why dont you just record your guitar track instead of using the loud ass audio from the camera? lol

Can you trigger sampled guitar sounds...like those cool beatles guitars in East West's Fabfour?
How well would they track...would they capture all of the slides, bends and vibratos?
How does bends, slides and vibratos track on regular synth patches?

Handen, this is the best guitar midi controlling on YouTube now.
I understand you're midi pickup is the GK-3, but what MIDI INTERFACE are you running it into.
Are you using the Roland GI-20 to run into the computer? Or perhaps you're running the GK-3 into a GR-20 and then Midi out to your computer?
Please advise!
