They came to my town haha. I have a broken mallet from who I believe to be the marimba one player? Not the company, the position in the front ensemble.
I love that guy throwing the bass mallet. Our staff did that crap this summer, and eventually they had all the horn and vis staff in on it.. Guy would drop a stick and a horn guy would come running wanting to chuck it. Great stuff. Sometimes you gotta keep it light.
@budwayz Nice to see that. Pearl seemed to be really "in" in the 90's, then some folks went to Yamaha or Dynasty. Pearl doesn't have the tight sound that others do, but I prefer the meaty sound they DO have.
...no, because if people can see the whole show on YouTube, they go "What's the point of going to a show when I can watch it for free here?", and then dci loses money.
So you've turned down the opportunity to sleep on gym floors all summer for no pay (and what amounts to a temporary "career" in marching band) in exchange for attending what may be the most prestigious university in the world, with notable Lucasian professors of mathematics like Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, et al?
I question your understanding of "the bigger picture." lol...
I smell innovation!! this line really reminds me of the "new stuff" back in the 70's and 80's when drumcorps was really defined and then into the late 80's when you had the blue devils and such doing really innovative things and bringing in new respects to drumcorps...I can deffinetly see this line as the start of that kind of revoloution...lots of body movement and really getting into the overall music and not just the line's book...
fair statement, but i dont think its dci that is the innovation, its the influence thats being crossed over from some of the insane WGI lines into DCI.
0:43 the paradiddles aren't in there. I wonder if they were added later or if they just couldn't get it clean.

What's The Sizes Of Their Basses?

This music reminds of Dance Derby of the Century, the Blue Devils performed in 2005. Any correlation here?

When did they switch from Pearl to Yamaha? Seems like Pearl drums are disappearing from DCI, which is too bad considering they sound the best.

SCV is one of the last few corps who use Pearl. Phantom switched to Dynasty a few years ago, sadly.

BK still uses Pearl, so does BS, BC, and Spirit.

@bradtaylor32 Yea thats true. I do prefer Yamaha snares, dynasty tenors, and mapex basses. The new mapexes have those sweet metal rims. Very nice.

they definately have the most interesting book this year. not the cleanist but they will definately get top 3 in drums.

Eric Shriver, marched Bluecoats snareline from '04 to '06. He was section leader in '06 and may have been in '05, as well. Very cool guy.
