Hey I have one my self he's only 1 and a half months old and he's already starting to talk that's so cute that ur bird does that there great pets and funny to watch..
I just couldn't stop laughing at the part where he says "Go Poo" And then he poops and then he goes in his squeaky happy voice "Good Poo!" hahahahaha But other than that I love these birds. I'm hoping to get one. :)
God i HATE these things! They're all over the place in my neighborhood and they make so much noise in the morning when i'm trying to sleep. And they really like to hang out at the golf club so they piss all us golfers off with their constant squawking and shitting all over our cars.
i just got a 10month old male blue quaker about a week ago.... most adorable bird but getting him to like guys is difficult cos the men in his previous family teased him constantly in his cage. i cant blame him for biting me but what is a good way to earn his trust?? btw when he cant see his cage he isnt nippy at all
@StevePinoyBoy Be patient with him. Birds are jus as sensitive as we are. So if he does not like u doing something, dont do it. Earn his trust. start by talking to him, sayhello as u enter and bye bye as u leave. start praising him. he can sense it in your voice. reward him with seeds/peanut, not too much though. Show him that you care by ur actions and words. good luck!!
@StevePinoyBoy That's because when the poor quaker see's the cage he thinks your going to trap him in there like the previous family did what helped me was getting some pellets and everytime you got to pet him or get him to step up with biting give him a pellet or a grape my quaker goes nuts for grapes :)
@StevePinoyBoy: Something to remember is that Quakers are cage territorial. I have two that I raised by hand from ten days old and they're the loveliest things, but the moment they can see their cage they'll attempt to tear my fingers off.
Mine just flew away. I wasn't even here when it happened. I get home one day hoping that it's there so I can listen to it talk and dance around but his cage was empty :(
I just lost my quaker parrot....my parrents hit the doors and accidently killed him...I will miss him greatly, he was like my baby. Words can't express how I feel right now. So take care of ur parrots while u have them because I couldn't take care of mine and now hes gone....i wont hear him in the morning he wont kiss me when I wake up...he loved me the most and I wasnt home when this happened. I'm so sad you guys.....I loved my little fellow :((((( Please like my status
I had a Quaker but it died yesterday. she wasnt even 2 years old and her name was Princess. I MISS HER SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!! but she's in a better place now
That was too cute at the end, I have a quaker parrot which I have named Nitaru, he is the funniest thing when he gets to talking. He goes from kisses to FU in 3 seconds. really quite funny, cause usually after the FU he calls my cat. He will say here kitty kitty kitty kareena. I love this bird to death.
@DsAngel1211 aww ^ ^ you should make a video XD I have a female lovebird, and lovebirds rarely talk so >.> the onlt word I THINK she says is "House" cause everytime I take her to her cage I say house, but it sounds more like *chirp*ouse XD
The talking capabilities of this Quaker is no where near as smart and as clear talking as mine was. My coco was truly unique and one if a kind. He was by far the smartest Quaker that I've found yet on YouTube. RIP Coco. We miss you :(
You're not supposed to teach them to go to the bathroom on command. It can cause them to hold it in and destroy their kidneys. I wish my Quaker was this good of a talker!
That is not true. If you've ever observed a nesting female, they will hold their defecation in for almost 24 hours at a time to avoid soiling the nest. They will hold it in all day and night until the male returns to sit on the eggs or chicks and will only then go outside and release. Males do this as well when they are the primary sitters. Nesting birds are designed to hold it in.
hahaha "go poo?" *poops* "good poop!"...that's so cute! haha. i want one of these soooo bad but sadly i have 2 cats who LOVE chasing bird, so that wouldnt work out very well haha
Quakers are fun to have. I lost mine today. He was 16 years old. I will miss him. Never let anyone smoke anywhere near your bird. It will shorten their lives.
I have two that were given to me about 4 years ago.Archie and Edith. The female is a witch.Hates me,hates all the other birds I have except her mate.I've tried, and tried to influence her to trust me but it aint happening. The Male,he has got me puzzled. He won't step up on my finger but he comes up to me everytime,he'll let me pet his head& kiss him on the beak.He acts like he enjoys my company but will sneak attack me sometimes when my back is facing him.And he means business.Little bastard !
Watching Casey reminds me of my own Quaker, Kiwi. He used to laugh, say "C'mere!", wolf-whistle, and give kisses. He'd even say thank you when you gave him one back! :3
I really miss him. He escaped a few months back, when my dumbass of a brother left the door open while he was working on his motorcycle. We didn't close the door on Kiwi's cage when anyone was home, so he just WALKED out the door.
The real sucker-punch is that nobody bothered TELLING me he'd escaped until about a month after!
@celticnightharp - I go to school in a different state - the bird stayed at home with my mother. I only got to see him when I was able to come home. :(
This is so cute...we have a quaker for going on 2 years now. Petey doesn't like to be touched but we hand feed him and he loves whipped topping. He's just now started to really talk to us, it's taking some time but we have confidence in him.. :)
it was funny because she tried to copy everything Casey was saying
but then, i dont know why, she got mad and attacked my itouch screen, paused the vid and started laughing...when she was done she just stood on me like nothing happened
I was like...Um okay?
Its not the first bird video she has attacked, i showed her another one after this and she did the same thing lol
Oh my gosh!! Your Casey is so smart & expressive! I used to have a ton of birds but since I relocated to a different state for school, I dont have any now but I hope to soon!
I always tell people birds are like babies. The earlier & the more you talk to them, the more they pick up. Even if they dont respond, they KNOW what you're saying & will mimic eventually. I used to think a friend's bird ignored me but he now mimics the EXACT way I say hello to the point his owner thought I came over once!
Charming little creature, funny they seem to do that to entertain themselves. I could be wrong but somehow I find a comical energy to it. I don't know if the parrot does but he seems to enjoy it. :)
I had a cockatiel that pooped on command. She used to hold her poop and call your attention if she needs to go. I would bring her to her designated pooping areas - very convenient and kept my furniture clean. If I'm not there, she would poop back in her cage.
@MattyBrennie Agreed, that's just downright animal cruelty 101, for god sakes...!!! And people like that, shouldn't be allowed near animals EVER....!!!
It will make them talk.. it does smth to their tongue.. I gave hot peppers to all my birds. and they started to speak early as babies. also. hot pepper makes their speech clear!! and they love t!!
for mine i took him into a room thats like not colourful (our bathroom is pretty much completely white) so that he wasnt distracted and then just said pretty bird over and over and praised him wen he moved his beak after i would talk and after he learned the first words he pretty much will copy everything i say :P first he learned sounds tho like shhh and the kissing sound and random things like that... hope that helps :) good luck
We leave ours in the living room, where he can watch tv, listen to our phone conversations. He picks up alot of stuff! My bird does the same stuff as this one! LOL But he also sings "true colors"
my mom bought a quaker today its a baby and were happy with it , but we miss our sun conure it flew out of the house when we brought a chair inside we missed it it was called tommy it was a nice bird it was learning my name when i came down the stairs he said jose and at night he crawled up to my moms room and sleep next to her on a tree
i just recently got a 5 and half months old quaker and i realli love him but i need some help on how to get him to not be scared of me and any tips on the best diet? he is takin nuts out of my hand but onli if i basically put the nut on his beak what do i do
Just thought I'd chime in on your questions. :] I would be very cautious about trying to introduce another bird. Especially if your bird has been solely bonded to you his whole life. I say this because I thought it would be nice for my lovebird to have a friend... and she wants to take his head off every chance she gets. So I now have 2 cages in my home and have to split up my time as evenly as I can. :( Not that that's a problem for me... I love them!
'Good poop'! I love that! I've been trying to train my parrot. When my know my bird want's to poop I say 'go poopie' and afterwards I say 'Good poopie'. He doesn't get it yet, and he still craps wherever and whenever he want's. Yay you for teaching your bird this!!! p.s, what constitutes a 'bad poop'?
If it is a male it will most likely learn to talk more abundantly than if you have a female, and thus may learn faster. My female began saying a few things before she was one year old. She is not two yet and has learned at least 5 phrases. She also dances to music and hsakes your hand when you ask her to. :) They are neat birds. The certainly have a personality.
Squeaker is very smart. He stayed at the bird store we bought him at while we were on vacation. The owner said she had never heard a Quaker speak so well. He would say everything he knew in a row & start over again. He says hokey pokey, I'm so cute, pretty bird, Mama's baby squeaker bird, pop, & kiss (sound & word) the Mama. Everybody kept asking to buy him.
Funny. My Quaker bird (Squeaker) sounds very different from yours - posting video soon. My bird hides under a cloth sometimes, my Grandma's (Cookie) sleeps with a bell over his back. Also, Cookie is much louder than mine & begs for food, while mine won't eat anything but seeds.
well what you could do is ummm...you have to prob keep them away from each other because they have fallen in love with each other and parroots only love one person.
someone help. i just bought a pair of quaker parrots born in february and june of 2008 and they don't like me lol. the older one is very protective of the younger one and always wants to bite if i touch either of them. the younger one isn't that aggressive but is getting there. how do i stop this behavior before they become out of control?
If you want them to be pets they need to be caged separately so they don't bond to each other (but by the sounds of it they are already pretty bonded) After they are caged separately you can work with each one individually in a different room away from the other Quaker. It will take a lot of time and patience but it'll be worth it. :) Hope that helps!
I really try to push people to research more and visit the pet they are intending on bringing into their life several times before purchasing, so their behaviour isn't a big suprise, but since it's too late now for that, I would say for starters, they shouldn't be in the same cage if you want them to bond with you. Learn how to handle them, because the way you approach them could have a huge impact on how they take to you. Did you research to find out if they were hand fed or not?
quakers will only bond with on e person. you need to separate the birds now or they will never bond to you. me and my sister bought 2 quakers. brother and sister and had to keep then separate for 5 months so that they bonded with use and not each other. once you separate them give them a treat everytime they let you pick them up with out trying to bite you. the treat encourages good behavior.
LOVE IT!!!! My quaker Phoenix does the "poopie-poopies" on command, but I haven't seen him do it when he says it on his own- that was classic with your bird!! Absolutely hilarious and totally cute- so great for a ten-month old at that!
Hahahaha!! Good poop, that's priceless! For anybody who has an older bird that doesn't talk, my quaker (who is 9) didn't talk til she was 2 or 3. You never know. Like people, they have minds of their own.
I had a Quaker... he would meow like a cat... he'd say 'Stop it' if you got too close to his cage... he'd tell the dog to 'Shut up' when it started barking... and if you offered him a little snack (depending on whether he liked you or not, lol) he'd cuss ya... lol He was something else.
that is the most annoying thing whenever your sitting in another room and here them doing the kiss noises for two hours straight non stop, and yelling every word they know.
aww the ending was priceless! sounded like after she said good poop, she said, good casey! :) I love quakers. I have a male named Zanzibar. He will be 2 in Sept. 08.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I think she did say "Good Casey" at the end, thanks for pointing that out! I love the name Zanzibar for your quaker, so cute! :O, 2 years in September, yay! Does your parrot talk a lot too?
my bird is a year and 3 months and he only makes sounds. how do you get them to talk? he repeats whistles and my sisters bird when it squawks, but no words just yet.
Just be patient. :) Some of them take a while to start talking, I've heard of some that don't say their first word until they are between 1-2years old... but on the other hand some never talk and are just really good at sound effects, it all depends on the bird. :) Also, some of them are "closest talkers" and choose not to talk in front of people, so you can set up a camera and see what happens when you're not home. :D Good luck!
Old!?!? No no, she's not that old. Her age is in the description... at the time the video took place, she was 10 months old, and in her new video, titled "Peek-a-boo", she is 16 months. Both still very young ages since they live to be around 25-30 years of age.
Everytime she'd poop we'd tell her to 'go poop' and after a few times she caught on and now she tells herself all the time! She rarely goes on us any more... we put her back on the cage or in another appropriate spot every 15ish minutes and tell her to go and she does...
wow thats kewl, i thing im gonna start doin that to my quaker, never thought about it, nyce thx 4 the advise now i gotta go behind the door and clean all the poop Lolz

I have a quaker parrot, and I had him for maybe about 2-3 yrs and would it be okay to adopt another quacker parrot so they can be friends?
cHaNdLeR1o15 2 years ago
Just thought I'd chime in on your questions. :] I would be very cautious about trying to introduce another bird. Especially if your bird has been solely bonded to you his whole life. I say this because I thought it would be nice for my lovebird to have a friend... and she wants to take his head off every chance she gets. So I now have 2 cages in my home and have to split up my time as evenly as I can. :( Not that that's a problem for me... I love them!

when i played this my quacker said shut up in spanish to your bird lol!

As I played this, my quaker parrot went nuts.
I should play bird song for him more often.

'Good poop'! I love that! I've been trying to train my parrot. When my know my bird want's to poop I say 'go poopie' and afterwards I say 'Good poopie'. He doesn't get it yet, and he still craps wherever and whenever he want's. Yay you for teaching your bird this!!! p.s, what constitutes a 'bad poop'?

i just got a quaker. does anyone know how old they are when they start talking?
juliejo39 3 years ago

Everybody kept asking to buy him.
angelluvsbear 3 years ago

He is a doll, I lost mine a month ago and waiting fo another. Hope he is as great as this one.

Only surefire way to determine the gender of a Quaker is through DNA testing.

Go poop?
Good poop!
yissyissisback 3 years ago
well what you could do is ummm...you have to prob keep them away from each other because they have fallen in love with each other and parroots only love one person.
ParrotStop 3 years ago
someone help. i just bought a pair of quaker parrots born in february and june of 2008 and they don't like me lol. the older one is very protective of the younger one and always wants to bite if i touch either of them. the younger one isn't that aggressive but is getting there. how do i stop this behavior before they become out of control?
belladonna1999 3 years ago
If you want them to be pets they need to be caged separately so they don't bond to each other (but by the sounds of it they are already pretty bonded) After they are caged separately you can work with each one individually in a different room away from the other Quaker. It will take a lot of time and patience but it'll be worth it. :) Hope that helps!
cotonsalways 3 years ago 2
I really try to push people to research more and visit the pet they are intending on bringing into their life several times before purchasing, so their behaviour isn't a big suprise, but since it's too late now for that, I would say for starters, they shouldn't be in the same cage if you want them to bond with you. Learn how to handle them, because the way you approach them could have a huge impact on how they take to you. Did you research to find out if they were hand fed or not?
militaryqt 3 years ago
quakers will only bond with on e person. you need to separate the birds now or they will never bond to you. me and my sister bought 2 quakers. brother and sister and had to keep then separate for 5 months so that they bonded with use and not each other. once you separate them give them a treat everytime they let you pick them up with out trying to bite you. the treat encourages good behavior.
chantaltabaka 3 years ago
@belladonna1999
You should've gotten them when they were little babies and couldn't bite and seperated them.

The only way to know their sex is to have them DNA tested, either at your avian vet or through a mail away kit from someone like Avian Biotech.

LOVE IT!!!! My quaker Phoenix does the "poopie-poopies" on command, but I haven't seen him do it when he says it on his own- that was classic with your bird!! Absolutely hilarious and totally cute- so great for a ten-month old at that!
lachica3224 3 years ago
hey I just got a quaker sunday. How long does it usually take for one to learn a word? I'll still love her if she dont talk. but just wondering

OutLawReBorn 3 years ago
Hahahaha!! Good poop, that's priceless! For anybody who has an older bird that doesn't talk, my quaker (who is 9) didn't talk til she was 2 or 3. You never know. Like people, they have minds of their own.

That's one cute and smart quaker, i should take some vids of my little green meanie soon hopefully, all the best!
Ingiequeen 3 years ago
I had a Quaker... he would meow like a cat... he'd say 'Stop it' if you got too close to his cage... he'd tell the dog to 'Shut up' when it started barking... and if you offered him a little snack (depending on whether he liked you or not, lol) he'd cuss ya... lol He was something else.

that is the most annoying thing whenever your sitting in another room and here them doing the kiss noises for two hours straight non stop, and yelling every word they know.

Hi! Your Casey sounds just like Elliot when she talks :)
elliebirdnikkishane 3 years ago
Aww, they have the cutest little voices! :) Btw, Elliot sounds like a great name for a quaker!
cotonsalways 3 years ago
aww the ending was priceless! sounded like after she said good poop, she said, good casey! :) I love quakers. I have a male named Zanzibar. He will be 2 in Sept. 08.
thtalksh2 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I think she did say "Good Casey" at the end, thanks for pointing that out! I love the name Zanzibar for your quaker, so cute! :O, 2 years in September, yay! Does your parrot talk a lot too?
cotonsalways 3 years ago
my bird is a year and 3 months and he only makes sounds. how do you get them to talk? he repeats whistles and my sisters bird when it squawks, but no words just yet.
murtlejeanfrog 3 years ago
Just be patient. :) Some of them take a while to start talking, I've heard of some that don't say their first word until they are between 1-2years old... but on the other hand some never talk and are just really good at sound effects, it all depends on the bird. :) Also, some of them are "closest talkers" and choose not to talk in front of people, so you can set up a camera and see what happens when you're not home. :D Good luck!
cotonsalways 3 years ago
that quaker looks old! how old is it?
marcorappuchi 3 years ago
Old!?!? No no, she's not that old. Her age is in the description... at the time the video took place, she was 10 months old, and in her new video, titled "Peek-a-boo", she is 16 months. Both still very young ages since they live to be around 25-30 years of age.
cotonsalways 3 years ago
This is true. I have a Quaker - Goo is his name - and he turns 20 this year. I've had him since I was 12 years old.
frogeyland 3 years ago
wow how'd u teach it to say go poop i need to know tht my quaker poop's too much unexpected...gah..tht's awesome :p
alliyah09 4 years ago
Everytime she'd poop we'd tell her to 'go poop' and after a few times she caught on and now she tells herself all the time! She rarely goes on us any more... we put her back on the cage or in another appropriate spot every 15ish minutes and tell her to go and she does...
Good luck! :)
cotonsalways 4 years ago
wow thats kewl, i thing im gonna start doin that to my quaker, never thought about it, nyce thx 4 the advise now i gotta go behind the door and clean all the poop Lolz
