@afterm2013 Because straight after they crashed Ben had the others get all the info on the peope from the plane. Also Richard and Jacob knew they were coming from 1954 onwards.

Richard is some kind of an advisor( Ben told Sun that in the beginning of the episode "Follow the Leader". I think that when the leader is absent, Richard is in command.

i dont think that richard is actually an other at all, i think he has been on the island since its creation, maybee he is a neutral party that the others respect and that is why they protect him and give him a big say decisions concerning the island, why doesnt he ever age is he some kind of spirit he may even be the islands physical form maybee some kind of ambassador of the island, jacob or the black smoke. i know these theories sound rediculous but just think about it. Lost can always suprise

i think richard came to the island on the black rock. Along with Jacob and possibly widmore. But widmore moved the island like ben did so he can never return. Just a theroy

good theory but unfortunately the black rock hit the island on a tsunami. in dharma special acess you find that out. and charles widmore ages. jacob well hes just special :) and richard he the coolest kid on the block. but you have to take in to consideration that moving the island takes place in the orchid and the orchid isnt even made when charles leaves

@OwenGetsLost: it doesn't happen in the orchid, but under it, in a place that wasn't related to Dharma Initiative. The Dharma folks built the station above the "wheel chamber"

no but in you find out that it is completely cover in rock, if you remember they do a thermal scan and they see the wheel in the rock, there isnt a room with it in, the well that was there before has collapsed

It's good seeing Richard again. I hope we learn about what makes Richard appear ageless, how he was able to visit Locke if he was on the Island before the Dharma Initiative came, his life on and off the island, and what he and the Others were doing at the Temple between the ends of Season 3 and 4 next season.

man thats fuckin lame i fort they wud all be at the temple and with all that fire power they cudda taken out keamy and his men first time around but now hes got some dodgy device on his arm which i think will make the C4 blow if anything happens to his heartrate, this season finale is gonna be amazing.

@gt2007tv richard is like an advisor to the others he speaks to jacob. and when the leader is absent he takes over until the leader returns. u probley new that now but if u didnt just wanted to help

richard serves a deep purpose to the island. he's not the leader but does the searching for one. i believe widmore was the leader before ben.
