With this style of music, you might try sampling faint sounds of nature. Distant subtle rolling thunder (like what rolls down thru the mountains) or a soft, quiet, light rain. Exotic bird sounds can often compliment a piece if used sparingly, and softly. Nice work here, no pressure, just have fun!
Thanks everyone for the responses, I am under pressure at uni at the moment so may not be able to produce as often as I wish... I shall try to have a new tune up for January.
like it. do you play all of it? do you use any programs to help? of so what? =). Great song. sounds a tad too much like a style i dislike at times, but thats just me. =) please tell me if you use any software to help.
very good, would like to hear female vocals doesn't have to be full song just lines to create a mood. listen to loreena mckennett for eclectic mix of instruments
i saw ur comment on enya's song may it be.. this is nice [: the istruments sound a lot like the ones used in defying gravity - wicked :P This is awesome :)
Glad you like it - The next tune I upload within this week will not be particularly trancelike or melancholic - still minimalistic chillout, but more acoustic sounding, in the style of Damien Rice/ David Gray/ Enya. Thanks for the comment.
i noticed your post on enya and decided to give you a shot and listen to your music. I like it, but I hope you won't stick to only dark tones but will very depending on the "CD" theme sort to speak. I also subscribed to you :)
p.s. as for instruments one that kinda rarely used for incorporation of trance is harpsichord (imo). Dunno if you could pull it off but only thing I can think of that may make you more unique.
It is unlikely that I will stick entirely to one genre, since at the moment, its just pure experimentation with different sounds - if I think something sounds alright, I'll upload it on here. I'll give the harpsichord a try - it 'could' work with something. Thanks.
Thanks, glad you like it. I think the best way i can describe the next tune I'll be uploading in the next week or so will be as a fusion of David Gray/ Enya/ Damien Rice in style, again minimalistic but I'd say a little bit less melancholic - not really trance, but more acoustic sounding.
I like it, very relaxing. Will be looking out for the next track for sure! I don't know wot to suggest other than keep up the nice sounds and don't thinbk to hard this is nice.
I've actually got another one in the making that sounds similar, but is perhaps more 'happy' sounding than this one and certainly deviates from the trance genre - I shall upload it in the near future, but my main focus will be on producing an ambient, darker, downtempo trance track in the next few weeks. Thank you for the support.
Nice job mate, I'm not in the mood for something that calm ATM, but it's a good tune. Be advised I'm not a music critic, nor do I write myself. Also I usually go for music that might start slowly, but develops a little through out the track.
No worries, sometimes the best critics can be those who AREN'T so critical about what's being heard - after all, that's the general public. I'll probably be making something more uptempo soon enough - it will at the very least have some drums going on. Thanks.
For me, you've defo got the sounds right. But it sounds too busy. Can you take out the guitar? Maybe that would slow it down, if you know what I mean.
I think I know what you mean, although to be honest, it started out as a guitar instrumental. This recording is a bit boomy at louder volumes and my guitar playing is far from perfect, but I think what would make the difference is if I was to quieten and adjust the eq of the guitar part (as well as re-record it of course) so that it is less 'obvious' in the texture. Thanks for the comment, I'll take your points into consideration when I master this track properly.
Just found them on google to be honest. I made this track one evening, listened to it the following morning whilst walking outside, and it seemed to 'suit the surroundings', i.e. freezing cold, frosty, typical Winter's day. Hence the name. Glad you enjoyed it!

It would be hard to improve it but maybe a beat loop but not an overpowering one just to balance the melody out a bit.

Yea I play all the instruments, used logic to record. I think the recording could do with a bit of touching up though. Thanks.

Creating anything solo is tough. Youtubes bad sound doesn't help. Will look forward to hearing your next mix
