The honest answer is lot's of volume + distortion + good use of the guitars controls to make the feedback sound very natural..

It's not like you could make a £200 guitar and amp kit do it quite like that haha, but it's possible to fashion a sustained feedback which doesn't squeal like a banshee from most electric guitar rigs :)
