@TheFordmech Hey, you can download it by converting it into mp3 form on various websites. I know it isn't ethical but I just had to have this song and I live in Iceland and we don't have access to iTunes :( I can send it yo you if you'd like?
this song is jammin!! this band i am playn with actually brought this song for us to learn... The guy on keys ate this song up on the live version which is like 12min... but this is the version that brought to the band..
have a gig with some straight-ahead cats this week and i talked them into hitting this with me. :) totally psyched... this tune's more fun than fake tits. (just a little bit, though)
So I get to this High School Jazz camp up at EWU, and the guy there arranged this amazing chart for big band.... and arranged it well, too. Imagine the feel and groove of this chart mixed with a little trumpet screaming.... so satisfying.
@NtropyPyroductions Was it by any chance Vern Sielert? Because I played his arrangement of this song at Summer Music Clinic in Madison, WI last summer. It was so awesome, and he was a great conductor.
No way! So did I! I was the guitar player. This is crazy! What are the odds? I mean, I guess pretty high. I don't think any of us can get this damn song out of our heads...
Love this song,,,,this is true U.S.A folk music...I think this tune could have been recorded a little slower, but even at this tempo the musician`s performance is 5 stars....
@Painkiller1157 I started with tech death before I really discovered jazz. It's honestly the closest form of modern music that has enough technicality to allow its listeners to appreciate jazz.
@Painkiller1157 I listen to rap, this, metal, electronic music, classical, everything that sounds good. Please suck my dick because I am so fucking open to everything
jazz is so underrated! if ppl knew what was going through theses guys heads while they were playing, it would change their lives! put it this way, for every NOTE these guys play, they have a head full of tangents they can improvise on...the dynamics are brilliant!!!!
i'd suggest to try any sound/scale over a given chord like c sharp melodic minor over f maj... then listen well to the result and if you like it... after a while the best outside sounds will become part of your standard repertoire. good luck!
I would say that it is definitely not smooth jazz because of a number of things: it is in a traditional jazz combo setting (i.e. no synth/keyboards etc), contemporary soloing, and the artists involved are by no means smooth jazz musicians. i think a sort of funk/jazz fusion is more of an appropriate genre
I love new jazz. And as a musician who has played this song before, i was wondering. Am i the only one who things this is verging on the smooth lie? hit me back.
yea i can see that. but you can smooth up his stuff so easily. But yea, i like the soul jazz thing. But no matter what he is always playing with so much intensity
I like jazz but had never heard this song until I was on a flight back to the States from (where else) Paris. This song puts into music everything my heart feels when I visit Paris. Every time I listen to it, I'm transplanted back to my March 2009 visit. Thank you Roy, you have a new fan in me!
i fail at playing this on the sax compared to these guys. i played it in my school band and my god is it difficult with all the articulation. like everything is so clean.
this is one of their best tunes! I love how uplifting and bright it is. When I first heard it, it was at a live show and it was so mindblowing, I had kept humming it to myself so I could learn it after the show. :)
god these guys now how to solo and on top of that make a easy to recognize melody in their solo that keeps you listening

Fm9,Eb/G-AbMaj7
Bbm9-Ab/C-DbMaj7 (with a walk down to F7/A)
That's pretty much it
