  • "KABOOM!"

...oops, stupid dozer, it just blew up my power plant!

  • i have it but it doesn't work on Windows 7 :( i should get dosbox to run it

  • @CrashHydrogen If you have the Special Ed of SimCity 2000, and 7 Pro, you might be able to get it to work in XP mode.

  • @Historymaker2001 I already got it to work in DOSbox, thanks though. And at first I read that as "Special Education" LMAO

  • HEY WAIT A SECOND

why is this song in the diablo playlist?

  • IN THE YEAR 2000

  • @mrjew download dosbox. use glenns guides (a site) to install correctly. i have the game

  • i still have the special edition of this game, its still fun to play!

  • This is from the Windows and DOS versions. The Mac version actually had better music IMO, though the quality was a bit scratchy for some reason there.

  • im so glad i still have one of the first 1000th original copies of this game, still playing :D

  • This is so much better then the music in sim city 4. Has anyone else seen the icecream van that plays this with bells?

  • man sim city 2000 rocked

  • Reticulating splines.

  • Llamas. Reticulated splines. Llamas. LLAMAS!

  • that organ is... loud

  • @MLAOTNMCC

Yeah, it's weird how the volume of the instruments in the Sim City 2000 soundtrack is so inconsistent.

  • herbe dare would fuck sam dare to this while they played it i watched it was so so funny sam had a sore ass after

  • You know, I've played many versions of Sim City. I've played the NES version, 2K, 3K, 4 and 2K for SNES. None of them seem to have the appeal of Sim City 2000 for the PC. To this day, it ranks in my top 5 favorite games.

  • @anthony62490

Even though my personal favorite is 3000, I do agree this one has an unmatchable appeal, that none of the others had....

    Though 3000 had Randall Shoop.....

  • FRESH

  • This + keyboard cat = WIN

    Awesome music.

  • all the new games the tend to get old, older games =D

  • @symir547

and u shoot it down and BOOM

  • @symir547 Nostalgia'd my ass off at this comment.

  • @symir547

    MAYDAY!

  • I wish they'd still make games with these kinds of graphics but with more to offer, I love all these 90's computer games. You'll never forget em.

  • this is the best sound track of sim city games

  • WHOA. You mean that all of the music is in... MIDI!? I FREAKING LOVE MIDIS!!! I can do ever so much with them! If this is true, could you please send me a folder with all of the MIDIs? I own the game, but I have no idea where it is.

  • Ahh... Memories...

  • This is not how i remember it, i played it on a card which sounded much more synthy, this is on a sample-based card

  • I think that was on the DOS version, which I still like better, and which no videos on youtube have.

  • It's nothing to do with the version, it's the audio hardware. Sound cards with the OPL3 chip used FM synthesis to generate the sounds, others would use sampled audio, like this.

  • The later Windows enhanced versions of SimCity 2000 used midi. They sound lame.

  • I refer you to my comment below. It has nothing to do with windows, it's the soundcard you use

  • So I take it you were listening to the same Midi files and not the sound files in the older DOS version? /:-|

  • I have the game installed on Windows right now and this is exactly how it sounds.

  • i noticed sim city 2000 music when you play the ice cream truck music on SC4, try it

  • I did too

  • 0:28

  • If only there would be a remixed version of this in simcity 4!

  • There is, the ice cream truck plays the sim city 2000 main theme

  • All the SC2K midis have 2 drum tracks for some reason. Thats why whenever you play it outside of the game or windows media player you have the first drum track and then the second one that should be playing defaults to a piano

  • Interesting - I have the SimCity 2000 MIDI files, and I tried playing them using WinAmp and Windows Media Player. They sound the way they should with Windows Media Player but not with WinAmp, even when I have the same MIDI synthesizer selected in my Sounds options from Control Panel.

  • yahoo i got the real soundtrack

  • The video is more of a real sound track. The description says the video this is responding to "begins with this song using a modern MIDI player which butchers the original sound lol."

  • This is the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth which is just the standard midi synth that Windows has been coming with for a while. The video this is responding to is using a better quality aftermarket synth, I think from Roland. Still looking for some free synth sound sets to use instead of the MS one.

  • Wow, I didn't know that. I've heard both versions of this song in my game (this and the one in the video this one is a response to). They were played on different computers, but I always assumed that the game had two different versions of this song. Now I know.

  • Actually this is what it sounds like with a standard Windows Vista MIDI sythesizer, my wav record was with a very crappy sythsizer. Hopefully I'll be able to upload a better version.

  • It's not JUST Windows Vista MIDI, but ANY sound cart that has a Microsoft GS Wavetable Synthisizer. I have Windows XP, and it sounded like this, but sadly, I can only run the DOS version on an emulator. the Windows version doesn't work. I also had Windows 98, and there were two synthesizers, OG3 Synthisis, and Wavetable, and in the Wavetable synth, this song sounded like this. OG3 MIDI had softer drums, and the intruments were a LOT different. It's on a lot of older sound cards.
