  • Nicht nur Ludwig van Beethoven, sondern auch die weiteren Tondichter haben die "Ode an die Freude" komponiert... (Not only Ludwig van Beethoven, but even other harmonists have composed the "ode to joy...") :)

  • Talk about straight in with it! Perfect attack on the notes - bellissimo!!

  • Brilliant peace... I love this one.

  • Bravo....The Supreme Master of the trumpet.

  • Hervorragend interpretiert. Selten eine solche qualitativ hochwertige

    Aufnahme gehört!

  • What a sound!?

  • A shame this seems to be done with modern trumpets...otherwise brilliant.

  • Does anyone know the RV number for this?

  • Every note has its own internal shape, complementary to the line of the melody. This is what distinguishes M Andre's playing from other trumpet players. He has a soul.

  • Just " ネ申 " GOD.

  • es increible con la claridad que suena esta trompeta, es magistral, es un sonido que llega al alma de todos. conmensurable

  • I did the complete Vivaldi concerto and let me tell you, it takes chops and serious endurance.....and I had to do it on the school's crappy yamaha pic...a Schilke Pic would have been a dream at the time!!!

I have been looking and looking for ANYBODY who has done this LIVE...not in a studio.

Hit me up if you have the video or link. Thanks!

  • Here's an odd bit of trivia about Herbert von Karajan.......he owned a 1967 Ford GT-40, the "Ferrari killer" of the 60s.

  • He was also a pilot and flew his own Falcon 10 to business venues and concerts.

  • @bigbullets Maurice Andre plays with a Selmer 1967 Model short bell piccolo trumpet. And he no longer plays in concerts, his last one was in 2008 according to his website.

  • This is simply amazing!!! The best for ever

  • man i wish i could find the sheet music to this

  • All his music is on his website

  • there is a better version of this concert, with BP and Karajan

  • i wish when people wrote something they would check their spelling before posting and making themselves look like idiots.

  • It's amazing how his high notes sound exactly like a violin.

  • My new favorite classical song! OH YEAH! haha

  • Somebody that saw him play years ago said he walked in, took off his coat, unpacked his horn, wiggled his valves a little, and then started to play without warming up. Is this possible?

I've also heard that he ( I believe I've heard this about flautist Rampal, too) has written in his contract that if he makes one mistake, he will accept no fee. Also possible?

  • re the contract: this is really true - you can read more details about it in the biography written by Guy Touvron - he claimed an immense fee for performing Bach's 2. Brandenbourg concerto and as the manager didn't want to accept, Maurice offered this deal (well knowing he would get the money - and he did!!)

  • @tuxguys I have never heard that about the mistakes. However, what constitutes a mistake? Too much vibrato, too little, musical interpretation, spending longer on a note or shortening it up for musical interpretation or simply playing incorrect notes? That would have to be well defined, because almost anything could be a 'mistake.'

  • @CCtuba1

No biggie, I'm just recounting what I'd heard, and, true or not, it's a brilliant marketing ploy.

  • I've sawhim many years ago ...on an American tour.... he played at Charleston Southern University, Charleston, S.C.

He autographed some of his sheet music for me,... spoke no English.... at least not to us!!!

    A GREAT player!!

Where can one find this arrangement ???...... ...a transcription from the violin sonata in F major..

  • Sheet music can be found at Maurice ANDRE's website. Hope this helps...

  • though i dun like Maurice Andre very much, but he's doing good at this song!!bravo!

  • I am yet to meet someone who can play this as well as he can.

  • this dude has a hell of alot of stamnia

  • I don't know why piccolotpt thinks that this is superior to the original when besides the key change and the chords being played by the orchestra, there's little difference betwen this and Vivaldi's sonata.

    Still though, very nice.

  • Perhaps this key is more pleasing to his ear. I have to say I like it in Ab slightly better than F. But hey im not Vivaldi what do I know about composing concertos or sonatas.

  • props to arban for making the playing of this possible

  • No one can do it anymore this way. Original piece is F major Vivaldi (RV20) violin sonata. Its transcription (in Ab) is by far superior to the original. Maurice plays here a Selmer Ab piccolo trumpet, especially tuned... A simple miracle.

  • @piccolotpt Thanks for that information. I'd never have guessed they were the same piece.

  • This is one of my favorite works for piccolo trumpet, and no one does it better than Maurice Andre

  • @RyanTrumpet dough boy? is that you?

  • @RyanTrumpet Yes! :) ... Beautiful!!!
