I'm trying to decide but I have a Difficult choice in front of me: Fender Hot Rod III or the Blues Deluxe? I play mainly blues as a hobby but sometimes I also try some Jazz .
the one on the wright is more bass, the one in the middle is jangle, the one on the left I am on the fence about, middle one is the one I would have, people say the HRDx are crap, I am pleased with mine, and this demo proves it, U must like them as you have 3, do U think they are as good sounding as the deluxe reverb, what camera are U using as picture quality is great, what mic as well mate
Hi mate, what do U think of the hor rod deluxe against the deluxe reverb in sound quality, tone quality, amp vs amp, I av the new HRDx and was thinking of selling it 4 the DRRI, do U think the loss on my amp is worth it to get a DRRI, or do U think the HRDx is just as good, on the clean channel only, what are your opinions, some like the DRRI better and others like the HRDx
I like the middle one the best, but I dont think I would go out and spend £100 + on a speaker to get that little bit extra bottom end, I would rather spend the extra on getting a better amp, but each to thier own, one guy told me to change my speaker and get new tubes and get the omega mo, which would have cost £400 all together, I payed £800 for the HRDx3, so total would have been £1200, for that kind of money I could go out and buy a used DRRI silverface, or a new Vibrolux, I gues2some it's ok
Nice playing man! was wondering which you would recommend for a JM tone mainly play alot of mayer, clapton, SRV etc. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
The Tweed has more punch and clarity. It sounds more pronounced, what speakers are in each. I prefer the tweed then the blonde.......:) sounds great! And also pairs very well with the Tele.
Through my crap laptop speakers, the Blues Deluxe sounds slightly more MID range focused. The white one sounds a bit...flat? The Tweed Deluxe Sounded really nice, though. I hear very clear high end, and tight bass. Again, laptop speakers. :) Either way, great shootout!
Hi! really like all your demonstrations. I appreciate it much. I think i would be happy with any one of them. The Tweed Hot Rod to me sounded really good. Punchy and clear to my ears. Is your Blues Deluxe MIA or MIM? U have had both and found my MIA Blues Deluxe to be "Creamier, more subtle, and less harsh", which I didnt expect.. maybe its the old worked in speaker.. not sure, but dig the demos. Thanks again.
@kdc300z all are made in mexico. US parts assembled elsewhere is ok for me. My favorite amp is made in Asia the VOX AC30 and that's a ball tearin' amp :)
Get a splitter and crank all three :) More seriously, there;s some tonal differences I can hear on the PC, but I imagine that the biggest difference is when they're breaking up under some distortion?
@ArielsSmartyPants the blues deluxe breaks up the best by far and at a volume that's not killing the audience :) I think it's the all round winner BUT if you like the drive channel on the HRD then maybe that's the amp to choose who knows hehe
Maybe because it's morning and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet, but I really can't tell the difference with all 3, my friend. The tone sounds the same to me.
@guitar62751 It's very subtle, the main difference is the speakers. In the room there's a big difference between them, I guess something might get lost in the video. Try it at 720p and see if the audio quality is better too. Different speakers will hear different things on computers too :)
nice comparison., just wondering if you have tried putting the italian jensen speaker on the blues deluxe. i want to replaced my stock speaker(eminence) with the jensen.thanks and be safe:)
@bigskymind81 Hi thanks for the comments. ANYTHING is better than the standard speaker they put in the blues deluxe amps. The Lorantz was so much nicer. I also have another G12 that I want to try in the BD amp as well. I will get around to that test one day too. I haven't tried the Jensen in the blues deluxe but I'm 100% sure it will sound nicer than the Eminence they put in as stock. :)

The HRD in the middle is killer. What settings are you using for these tests?

I would have thought a Greenback type is really not the point on a fender, you want the chime etc no?

Have you tried the made in USA amp? If so, how does it compare? Otherwise, it's made in Mexico and a Celestion for me.

Here is a weird question where is the camera if it is as close to the last amp as it appears that would throw off this test.

Outside of the different speakers, are these amps all stock tubes/no mods. What's that Tele model? Thanks.
