  • i was pissed when he died, good character.

  • I literally almost cried when I watched this part. Such BS.

  • Tristan should have one the battle..A dao sword has a much more higher slashing ability than people give it credit for.....The choreography for the movie limited his abilities...Plus when you are wielding two weapons especially when one is short you are a lot more open from your back...Cerdic only had a dagger..that dagger can only be effective if you get close enough to your enemy...Tristan's weapon allowed him to have longer reaches with his sword..make it more chances for a kill strike..

  • Cerdics tactics were under handed!

  • he is the only one who's fighting style reflects those of eastern cutlures. i.e bushido, ninjutsu.

  • I saw Tristan's death coming the moment he began fighting Cedric... It's incredible how emotional his death is to me, even though I saw it coming from the start. Truly a magnecifent movie.

  • Zabił go własnym mieczem :((

    Tristaan :((

  • Either Cederic is highly trained using a sword/dagger combo, or its shitty choregrophy/more dramatic for Tristan to die. Do you know how extremely difficult it would be to fight a skilled swordsmen like Tristan wielding a dagger and a longsword? "Cheating"? If anything, it shows how extremely skilled Cederic was. You need to be extremely close to use a dagger, not to mention cut through armor. In the end its a movie, it was meant to be dramatic not accurate.

  • A swede defeating a Dane impossible!

  • I just watched the PG-13 version on TV, it is sooooo fucking edited! The tristan fight sucks so much in the edited version. Cedric kills tristan in two little cuts, they dont even show the dagger get stabbed into his arm

  • Lancelot backs up at the first couple hits because he realizes hes dealing with a very good swordsman. Unfortunately, he was just too good.

  • @stringerboi It is Tristan not Lancelot!

  • @Gram547 cant believe i made that kinda error.

  • Honra é algo que existia como ponto forte apesar de traições, na hora da batalha a coisa era diferente, em alguns filmes tem como terceiros matando outros, porém é raro, veja que até um vilão mal como o CERDIC é capaz de devolver a espada, honra...

  • one thing i always wonder about these duels in the middle of a huge battle, is that no one tries to attack them. i mean yes it would be cheap to kill someone as a third man in, say attack from behind, but it would be so damn easy! perhaps not as glorious tho

  • When the movie was over, all I could say was:

Damn you script writers! You killed off Dagonet...you killed off Tristan...you killed off Lancelot!!!!!

  • @Jdunnivan1

And CLEARLY his helmet doesn't limit visibility.

Dumb ass nigger trying to act smart n shit.

  • @Jdunnivan1

Notice how Tristan is wearing a piece of Mongolian looking cloth on his hat that probably weighed less then 1lbs, so shut the fuck up.

  • Oh my God! The first time I saw this scene, I thought the Viking guy was really better than Tristan. But after watching it again, I realize he CHEATED!!! After their first exchange the viking guy had a DAGGER in his otherhand!!! And from that moment on he used that dagger to SNEAKILY wound Tristan every now and then! Like a coward! If he didn't cheat, I doubt he would have been able to take on Tristan's awesome skills. Now another interesting fight would be Lancelot vs Cedric.

  • @ThurmanRaj cheat? survival means you do what you can. it's a battle not a competition or tournament.

  • @ThurmanRaj nah lancelot was dual wielding also, he would of tore cedric up.

  • Oh,and to those who wonder why Tristram looked like a Samurai,..it's because the Sarmatians used that type of armor. It wasnt ALL Chinese, but it was close.Do a search on the Sarmatians and you'll see.

  • ps,..guys,this isnt Tristan,..his name is Tristram, and not the one in the stories. He had nothing to do with them.Tristran and Iseult were German and had nothing to do with Arthur, really. Not really.

  • The movie was set up for you to get mad.Tristram and Lancelot were the two most loved Characters, and both were killed,as in Black Rain when Andy Garcia was killed. You get really angry inside and want to kill Cerdic yourself.Tristram knew that the man outweighed him,was a bigger man,but they were locked in it together.Only one could have lived.

  • Only use of Dramatica Pro must have offered Tristan vs.Cedric fight,as a building momentum to the climatic' clash of warlords'. Hmm! Now HOW this happened is a different matter! The Saxon obviously cheated during the fight - one can see he's also using a knife in his left hand, while Tristan wields his sword at high garde(now seriously,Tristan...what's in your head?!),leaving room for Cerdic to easily make his deadly cuts. So,no consistency in Tristan's character...Too bad,for Mads really shines :)

  • Nice video clip! Need to make approximately Five Hundred Money day a day? Close to 2600 fulfilled individual consumers have been applying this approach currently! Head to roulettecash == or)

  • Tristan is samurai among the knights! lol

  • why do my favorites always die? D:

  • i wonder why the scriptwriters even let Tristan meet Cedric. that could have been easily avoided. i suppose it´s to show once again Cedric "badness": he kills "Arthur´s buddy" oh no, now that´s really bad ;)

the problem is, Tristan was never introduced properly, he´s got no personality, no profile, his fighting skills are the only thing that define him. he dies, it´s sad but... do you really care?? no, his death is only preparation for the really important duel: Arthur vs. Cedric.

  • @harpiyon I have to disagree to some extent - the fanfiction surrounding Tristan out on the net is pretty extensive and there's a common thread in regards to his personality which would suggest that Tristan did possess a personality in the movie.

    Shame he had to die.

  • @buffaloackley sorry maybe i should´ve explained myself clearer: i know the classic tales of Tristan (e.g. "Tristan & Iseult"), of course the character has a profile & personality (and a very interesting one!!)

but you can´t assume that all people watching the movie know the classic tales. all they have as a reference is the Tristan in the movie, and this one´s portrayed with very limited, one-dimensional personality. he´s a tough & cool badass fighter, that´s it

the movie does him no justice

  • this happens when a movie character is not coherent: Tristan is introduced as "one of Arthur´s buddies", he shows his skill in other battles, it´s cool & the audience thinks: "wow, a Samurai-type motherfucker!!" so far, so good.

then, in the final battle, "Arthur´s buddy" meets Cedric, THE villain in the movie. what happens? can he kill Cedric? no he´s not allowed to: that´s the job of the main hero!! hence Tristan has to die, though his skills surpass Cedric´s by far.

    Hollywood rule...

  • You gotta hand it to him, Cerdic is one cold mother, fierce fucking warrior. He had the choice of either leaving Tristan wounded, or kill him quickly so that he could rush in to save his son, but he wants to anger Arthur by dishonoring Tristan and desecrating Tristans body. Balls of steel right there. Although Mads is always way cooler than anyone else!!

  • i dgaf that arthur is the main character, Tristan should've been able to win this fight.

  • I could not decide who was my favorite between him or Lancelot

  • Why do the man wear a sarmatian armor and helmet..? :S sword aswell.

  • Having Tristan die like this was Fing retarded

  • TRISTAN WAS EPIC!! WHY?!!

  • anyone have any idea of the soundtrack/ specific song played during this scene?

  • Tristan immediately made me think of a samurai...dunno why. probably the way he fought.

  • @chinangel Prob cause of the type of sword he carried...believe it or not his style of fighting is very real and in my opinion rivaled the Samurai in skill.

  • @dominichulo1 yeah...that's probably it

  • TRISTAN!!!!!!what a WARRIOR,WHAT A PERSON,WHAT A GENTLEMAN!!!!!!

  • pulls a dagger.. what a bitch

  • The reason why he didn't take out the warlord in the gaps is because he's following some form of chivalry. They engage until they reach a stalemate and back off and start again. They fight until they fall and are not well enough to get up. He couldn't beat them as well as he did others coz the warlords better and stronger.

  • Honestly, they messed up the continuity for the Tristan character in this fight. In all other fights, he is quick and precise and takes out everyone in a few hits. You can tell that he has learned basically every move anyone can throw at him. He has so many chances to kill Cerdic but backs off. I honestly think it should have been Galahad. He was the most underdeveloped character, and it would have been very fitting for the young guy to die taking on the highly experienced warlord.

  • @aileanjeune I agree the fight should have been much better, but I believe they had Tristan killed because he was a loner. All the other knights had another comrade- Galahad was friends with Gawyn, Dagonet with Bors, Arthur with Lancelot. Tristan was just a loner on the outside who had only his bird whom he set free, so maybe that was it.

  • @aileanjeune

I agree, the only plausible way to kill of Tristan in this fight, would be to show him being either injured before entering the fight. Or to show Cerdic cheating and having a second saxon distract Tristan. But it would have been nice to see him survive instead of Galahad.

  • @aileanjeune i agree and disagree completely!

galahad would have been more fitting to die to Cegric although it was a pretty epic end to an epic character and tbh a badass character got a badass end and to me it always seemed obvious Tristan was gunna die and he went out fittingly

  • @aileanjeune you gotta think though if cedric didnt have the dagger tristan prob wouldve cut him in half

  • @aileanjeune he only has a few chances to kill cerdic. Cerdic smarter than who Tristan's killed. He saw Tristan's tactics first hand when he sent in that guy first.

  • diggin the hat.

  • I have seen this movie a million times and never realized that Mads is Tristan! lol

  • He was the best of all of them. Him and his falcon. King Tristan, not King Arthur.

  • Stellan is badass!

  • Tristan struck a chord with me the first time I watched this movie when he defended Arthur when the knights were told one more mission was in hand. He was chomping away on food as the other knights were complaining, and then...he died.

It was probably the only scene in this movie I absolutely hated. I understand that maybe now I know he dies, the next time I watched the movie I saw him more and noticed him more and listened to his lines. He was the most awesome character.

  • tristan is amazing and shud have won that fight if he did the movie wud have been much better

  • Galahad " I dont enjoy the killing... unlike SOME..."

Tristan "you should try someday, you might get a taste for it."

    cool character !!!

  • I love Tristan's sword. Like a cross between a Chinese Broadsword and a Katana. I WANT ONE! And also, I feel they should have killed off someone who was less awesome at fighting, and therefore more likely to actually have died, such as Gallahad. What a killjoy he was for the whole fucking film.

  • @TheJim9191 I want one as well but cant find anything, you know any?

  • I get that Tristan had to die....might seem weird that a underdevoloped character with about 13 lines in the end is the one that kinda breaks our heart but Mads turned underdeveloped into mysterious. Still,Tristan is the one who gives the impression of being the most skilled swordsman...which he turns out not to be. His speciality is aim and killing with one or two strikes.....still,it´s a sad death but like I said....slightly unrealistic. Two different Tristans,

  • One o9f the most entertaining movies in the last 10 years...and Mikkelsen stole the show,to say the least. He pulled a Benicio in The usual suspects. But still....even within the frames of cinema we have to have some realism when it´s needed. Look at Tristans moves here before he gets injured the 1st and second time...slow like an old lady! And clumpsy swordhandling.Compare that to the ninja we see in the 1st battle who kills a woad without even looking at him. No...

  • Does anyone know the sword style that Tristan uses while fighting?

  • tristan was by far the best character in the film. but i dont think One-Eye wud have lost this fight

  • when mads mikkelson dies he becomes stronger than you could ever imagine, just like ben kenobi

  • killed by a Viking ;D

  • 35 seconds. The look of mutual respect. I love how Skaarsgard isn't the typical villain and wants to kill his opponent while he has a weapon in his hand,

  • Portrayed by any other actor,Tristan´s death could appear a bit pathetic but Mads brings a nobility and calm to Tristan. No crybaby, this guy.He just notices blood under the armour n the look in his eyes...indifferent and fearless. Characters in epics might be intimidating, fascinating or inspiring...but Tristan´s the ONLY COOL char. As in we define the word.People aren´t cool in epics..n I know people were tough back then but he STABS Cedric in the leg andC doesn´t even go "Ouch"? Come on,man...

  • When I first watched this, I was sure Tristan's hawk would come back to help him...

  • Why didn't anybody fucking help him?

  • when he died the last thing he saw was his eagle that was searching him between all the people... i felt that damn pain in the throat that you feel when you can hardly hold yourself...

  • lol look at some of the guys in the background xD Doesnt even look like they are supposed to fight xD

  • what kind of a knife is that saxon guy using? a seax/sax? probably because he is a saxon, so a seax

  • That blonde haired guy (Cederic) cheated (using a knife with his sword).

  • From an historical context it would be interesting to examine how exactly Tristan wields both a Saracen style sword and Mongolian composite bow in addition to being trained in the traditional use of each. Considering all of the knights were supposedly serving their entire term in Britannia.

  • @Zhi8606 hehe it looks like a chinese dao sword, is that inaccurate? they prolly had single -edged swords but not like those in china or anywhere else, i think they were more like falchions than daos or something rather, and the bow did they have siyahs at this time? or just regular curved tips, i thought the siyahs were a later development like after the mongols

  • what style would u fight? me probably cederic's cause im part scandinavian, russian more like were russians eastern vikings or are they different?

  • @jabames I'm alot of scottish so I take William Wallaces fighting style. Vikings are badasses though!

  • @jabames I know about the Vareg´s story of course, but I think Russians do not have that much to do with Vikings. Saxons have more in common with the Scandinavians in my view.

I am Hungarian and really like Tristan´s style. He really looks like and fights like a Sarmatian, nomadic knight. I think has a Hungarian composite bow in the film and before the final battle he wears a nomadic hat.

Some part of the Sarmatians (the Alans or Jas) settled down in Hungary in the 13th century.

  • dude fuck dis if tristian wanted to kill arthur he could he was the best fighter aint no way in hell arthur coulda taken him in this movie

  • tristan was the cewlest character in this movie

  • Tristan is epic look how he made that first guy look like shit

  • It is a barbarian fight, why be fair? You do what it takes to get the job done

  • Tristan and Marv, the two best characters in the history of cinema

  • fuck of cederic, the asshole; why do you kill tristan and not merlin or yourself...xD

  • thx :D for the video and i found the movie :D thx :D

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Tristan was all about the challenge. He was a warrior completely satisfied with his place in the world. He wasn't about to back down from a fight with anyone. Even if it meant certain death

  • I generally dislike it when movie bad-asses die.

  • why the fuck is that old sakon king strong he looks so weak

  • @barsyha Weak? he has a big badass beard, he can't be weak :D

  • I think he saw a equal warrior in the King and wanted to fight him. Likewise i think the King saw a opponent of equal skill, and wanted to fight him. He was constantly saying how so many warrior are not worth the effort to kill, and i think thats why he let Tristan reclaim his sword when he lost it, because he wanted to fight him.

  • definitly my favorite, nice smoothe style, alway's in control, has alot of honor, fights efficiently and owns every fight, exept this one lol, witout that dagger, he'd win im sure of it, his stamina i think would have bin better , he''d wear the saxon out eventually , his style takes more time then arthus wit this saxon guy but ah well

  • Gay, one of the worst movies EVER!

  • Tristan was the best of all the knights in my opinion, WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T ANYONE HELP HIM!! Tristan and Lancelot shouldn't have died the others could switch places with them.

  • @Azdeth11 fuck lancelot I was happy he died

  • @SgtSamProductions c'mon hes mr. fantastic from fantastic 4

  • its not cheap their is no thing as unfair in war ur killing people kill or be killed and besides if u look tristen pulled the knife from his armor and cedric countered it oh and about if he would have went about it differently its not like im going to fight like this right now its a fighting style pounded into you over years musle memory automatic reaction and either way cedric was meeting him blow for blow eforlesly it didnt matter about the knife and tristens sword is a scimitar and

  • @swordplay4 Responding outta boredom...U have a more gifted warrior in his prime vs a more experienced and cunning.Notice how after the 1st swordexchange,Cerdic understands that he likely will get sliced up.THAT´S when he pulls the dagger n EVERY injury until Tristan is finished comes from that dagger alone.Cedric´s scum but not cheating,it´s life or death. PS.Tristan vs the woads...compare dat ninja to Mads swordhandling n speed here just to adjust to Stellans lack of it. A bit"unrealistic"?

  • this part was sooo gay,Tristan was the best! but you think him being that smooth and smart would be able to see the little tricks he had commin at him.

  • I cryed the first time I saw him die -_- Because he was the best :P

  • What song is being Played?

    Please Answer:

  • Tristan was amazing, he was good with the swrod and an excellent archer, i really wonder what would be the outcome of that battle if Cedric didn't have that dagger, but Cedric has a lot more strength, but strength alone doesn't win fights

  • I think Tristan was Scythian

  • Tristan was the best...

  • If you bend Tristan's sword a little more he'd look like a Samuri

  • Cedric The saxon Was a powerful warrior he even gave tristan a chance its tristan who failed!cedric should have killed arthur fucking british bitches!

  • @JediXful

You've got a point man. Cerdic held his own well against Tristan. But I still think he would've died if he hadn't pulled that dagger. Cerdic's good, but Tristan's good too. Either Cerdic died, or the fight would've just ended in a stalemate. Plus, he did almost kill Arthur. He WOULD have killed him if he had a little more physical endurance.

  • Haha wow can't believe tristan is played by the villian from Casino Royale.

  • @Greentonic i know! :-D

  • dagger not a knife srry XD

  • dagger not knife srry XD

    R.I.P Tristan

  • dagger not knife srry XD

    R

  • if u watch cerdic in the fight against tristan u can watch he puls a knife so when tristan defends of the atacks of cerdic sword cerdic would attack him whith the knife... ad before tristran is killed u can see the knife stabed in his arm.

that shure is a coward way to fight

  • Ruf i o, Ruf i o , Ruf i o

  • Its fucking sad that Tristan dies but maybe Arthur hadn't a so largely incentive to kill the Saxon leader without his death....

  • Oh yeah hes by far the most impressive knight of the bunch. so is it a scimitar or a dao? During this battle, I like to think Tristan was seeing the Saxon leader dismantle his allies one after another and decided to take a crack at him. I really like how focused he is approaching the saxon leader. He effortlessly sliced through a few before getting to him.

  • Dao. Those swords used by orcs in The Lord of The Rings were scimitars

  • The Saxon just fought smart, he indeed saw an opening in Tristans defence.

In war you dont fight fair you fight smart or else you die.

  • thats a Scimatar thats Trisitians using i think

  • it's a dao lol

  • Yeah, he has Asian influenced armor and scimitar. The armor is mongol I think.

  • Tristan should've stabbed him in the pelvic area, the guy wouldn't be able to move without having lots of pain.

  • You talking about the dagger attack?

  • @TheBlackPhoenix100 of course...

  • i act like tristan all the time at school its so funny but anyway he was awsome he rocked the best fighter i love how he fights

  • @mboy115

So do I. He kicked ass in that film didn't he?

  • oh hells yeah he's the best knight out of all of them

  • *sniffle*

  • Comment removed

  • Tristan, the most bad ass of them all..hands down..styleeeee, hes the man, wish he didnt die, but he went out like a champ

  • @balllerstatus

The only guy who went in a better way then he did was Lancelot. Not only did he throw a sword at that guy, but he also ran him through the neck with his other.

  • When I saw the film for first time... I cant handle this moment. What a rofl men... The unique Knight who appear to know who to attack with two swords without screaming like a crazy pig had a humilliating dead by a barbarian. Cause you can see in the battle against Arturo he only makes normal attacks like a no brain man...

No comments about the Great Wizard Merlin who in the film was a simple homeless who dont know how to speak and appeared that he was oversmoker

  • @WiTeAnGeL

Actually, Cerdic did win that battle. He won underhandedly, but he won nonetheless. He saw an opening in Tristan's defenses, and he used it by getting him with his dagger. Arthur was a lot harder for him to take on, because he was a lot more aggressive and his blow were a lot more powerful. Tristan looked and waited, that was his style, but the aggression in Arthur's style gave made him fiercer and gave him an edge when facing another swordsman.

  • Actually, the style he used against Tristan wouldn't have worked against Arthur's aggression. Arthur's attacks were relentless and powerful, so Cerdic needed to be the same.

  • Tristan kills with a slight enjoyment of the taking of life. He would have won if he haden't fought like that against the saxon since he was a good swordman, more feroucious and he would have taken the saxons life

  • Hmm...he makes three very basic mistakes in technique which are, I am sure, for dramatic effect...ie, as trained killer, if he didn't notice the Saxon draw a shorter weapon he was on to a SERIOUS loser...this spoiled it a bit for me...but his death did spoil the whole brilliant performace! If ever there was a sequel...

  • @Julius55555

He was taking that guy seriously, but the style that Cerdic was using was a style that Tristan wasn't used to.

  • most charismatic knight...

  • funny that both actors is scandiavian they are supposed to be on the same side XD

  • @simon9999912 one is Swedish, the other is Danish. Some huge gaps in between, especially in history. Not always friends.

  • Dude dun got fucked up

  • That anglo looked big.

  • I hate how they can BUTCHER Gawain and then murder AWESOME TRISTAN. Kill GAWAIN instead dammit!

  • I know, this movie makes Gawain and Dagonet look stupid, and they should have given Til Schweiger a bigger role.Well, at least Lancelot was pretty tight.

  • Oh yeah and Galahad is pretty cool.

  • I was so sad when Tristan died. He was my favorite.... They shouldn't have killed him. I agree with you totally AntiHero12109. *sniffle*

  • I don't really care how accurate this is to the original tales, but this charctor of Tristran was incredible, I wish they would have just wounded him instead of killing him off. His charactor was so unique. It's as stupid as how they killed off Prince Nuada in hellboy 2. Such great charactors wasted.

  • good shout

  • I don't like how all the cool characters always have to die.

A few of my all time favorites - Marv from sin city, rorchach from Watchmen, tristan here. These characters made the movies for me.

  • Yeah, and with those characters you always want to see more of them but nope, they're dead.

  • Dude, your awesome for your taste in movies! Sin City is my fav. I wasn't thrilled with Watchmen, but Rorscach was the best character.

Tristan, by far, was the best knight. His skills were just awesome. He was an awesome bowsman, swordsman, and wasn't afraid of anyone. Well, none of the knights were.

"Yeah, yeah. We're all going to die someday. If death at the hands of a Saxon frightens you, stay home.

  • Oh yea, you forgot Priest Vallon from Gangs of New York.

  • yea tristans character was definatly the best one in the movie. had a cool style with that mongolian armor and sword.

  • Poor Tristan, I liked him best out of all of them. Too bad he had to die =[

  • That while old man was a fucking beast!!

  • Mads Mikkelsen born 11. 22.

    My born 11. 22. :)

    Great Movie!

  • Stellan

  • Actually in history, Tristan was the second best warrior only behind Lancelot. He was killed during a love triangle, not a battle. This actor (Mads Milkkenson) played the role awesome! This movie was great to watch!

  • Tristan would have won if cederic did not used his knife, and fought fairly...

  • Hm, Cederic disarmed tristan, and than he returned him his blade. I'd call that fairly.

  • True. Cerdic was enjoying that fight. If he used only his sword, they would've been matched evenly throughout the entire fight.

  • @EricBloodaxeTheRed i'd call the hidden dagger unfair =/

  • @OnlyJoven

I'd call that strategy. Proper use of war tools while fighting a better armed opponent. Thumps up for Cederic!

  • @OnlyJoven unfair, but it's war, if you go always for the fair, it's better if you and your men just quit, 'cause your opponent won't play fairly

  • @EricBloodaxeTheRe Very true, i think Cedric saw Tristan as one of the few skilled enough to battle with him and present a uncertain outcome. I don't think Cedric wanted to waste that chance by winning 'unfairly' even though technically there is no such thing as fair in battle.

  • Comment removed

  • The Saxon leader killed him with his own sword!Tristan should kill him.Tristan was the best Samartian warrior,I think he was better than Arthur.
